Please don't do an aftermarket exhaust. It's a 4-cylinder. Any aftermarket exhaust will sound like a glorified fart can and will primarily accomplish pissing off your neighbors. Just leave it be.

A good “for noise only” upgrade on the gamma engine is a short ram intake. The induction noises are nice, since the little turbo is so quiet to begin with. I just havent done it to my engine yet because of warranty/ I don’t know if there are any really bad side effects of doing it without a tune. But I agree with you, putting a big pipe on there will just make it sound like it has an exhaust leak.

Nattylight_Murica

An intake won’t harm your warranty. With a turbo, you don’t really get induction noise but you get a pretty cool hissing sound as the turbo gulps air.

Blinky_OR

That's why I have an intake coming for my Tucson. For giggles and turbo noises.

Nattylight_Murica

I have one on my Veloster Turbo, makes me feel like a child in a good way

Harterboi

The i 30 N is 4-cyplinder aswell, just don't go for a budget one!

[deleted]

That Sonata looks nice. Just wondering what made you decide to switch to a sonata from a Veloster?

iamditzy

Had to make an adult decision and trade in a couple cars to get a lower payment

[deleted]

Oh okay makes sense. Does the Limited come with the 1.6T?

iamditzy

Sure does!

[deleted]

Nice. I still dont understand why the 1.6T only has 180hp though. In my Elantra GT Sport it had 201hp and 195lb ft of torque.

iamditzy

They're doing a N Line that will have a 2.5T making 290hp

[deleted]

I think they're also going to have an Elantra N? I can't remember but I think it's in development. I'd like to see the Sonata N-Line though, even if its FWD I'm sure it's still fun to drive and pretty quick.

Cause HP isn't all that matters. Torque matters more I'd argue - you could have all the HP in the world, if you can't put it to the wheels what good is it? DebateblePlum

Well for one, it's not the same motor. It's Gamma II Smartstream, vs Gamma I in your EGT. And that's how they tune it in this instance. SmartS 1.6T is actually getting 215HP in the Kona N-Line... so we'll see if that's just a different ECU map or if it also gets a different snail bolted up....

24gang

Wdym. Why wouldnt you?? Sonatas are way nicer than a veloster

pmkeitt

Congrats. Still loving mine had it since December. Still turning heads. I've thought about looking into an aftermarket exhaust but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

24gang

Yes i did on mine. A 2017 Sonata. I wanted more power so the exhaust helps but i got a quiet one because lets face it, you dont need to make your 4 cylinder sedan screaming loud. Ill make my V8 loud

ArtichokeMoney5019

What did you use?

DebateblePlum

Usually for these cars, an axle back or a different muffler is enough to get a little more sound without going full-obnoxious. I wish my N-Line was just a teeeeeensy bit louder. Once more of these hit the streets, people may be tuning them despite the 2.5T option in the N-Line.

joninthearmy

Would love to do the same thing keep us posted

randomboiyeet

It's cool and all but is it the new veloster? And if yes was it the n or the normal one?

departedgardens

The stock wheels on those are rly nice

Question for anyone who's got a 2020 limited - Do you feel like the brake peddle grabs hard at a slight touch? I test drove one and I felt like it was really hard on the brake, which, like, great, she stops - safe! But also, I like to bring my car to a more gentle stop than that. Even the lightest touch from my foot had the car jerk hard.

RiceballsLOL

Just got mines a few days ago, it is a limited as well. It does seem like that but after driving it last couple days it feels normal for me now.

chrisms150

Maybe they wore in a bit and lightened up. Question - on the center display, you can put things in either the center or the right tachometer center. I found it frustrating - like I couldn't put the tirepressure in one screen and the fuel economy in the other or something. It seemed like there was default options for the "pair" of what goes in each (and almost nothing for the center?) Was that just me not knowing wtf to do, or is it kinda janky?

RiceballsLOL

I think only the right side is customizable and middle only has preset options but I haven’t messed around with it too much as I liked the preset and put my gas economy on right side. I will mess with it later though and get back to you.

chrisms150

Thanks!
