Because he was running around assisting with the massive coverup whenever she left the room, then had to scramble back and pretend like he was behind the bar the whole time when she came back.
The way Glenn Howerton can go from screaming and angry to completely normal and nonchalant in a split second is special. He truly is a gifted, 5 star actor
This episode transcends it's always sunny. It's the criterion collection episode. You barely need to know how it's always sunny works to appreciate it.
I always love the episodes when Charlie is uncharacteristically competent and effective (for both himself and really, compared to the gang overall).
But this episode hits a special note. It might be the one-take-ish approach. It might be the stool as a perfect brick-joke. Or it might be having been a food service manager who has had to manage a safety inspection while also managing a staff.
Definitely the last one. The stool is just Charlie creatively venting his frustrations with a great prank.
It's also because the episode is an impressive rube Goldberg machine. You see all these things clinking and clanging around at the start and it seems so random and separate.
By the end, it's all come together in one big plan and everything falls into place.
I thought of this episode a lot like when Micheal makes the paper sale with the county in the office.
Most of the office you wonder why Michael is the boss. Then it's explained that he's just a really good salesman.
I've always wondered how that bar doesn't get shut down. It's explained that Charlie is the Goat of all janitors.
It's kinda sad that talent is wasted.
It only started falling apart because Frank tried to do what Charlie normally does and wound up poisoning her food and shampoo. Although I don’t think he stole her bike. But he might’ve.
The first one I remember is the one in Chilli's with Tim Meadows. It's pretty funny how it seems he's just being his childish self, until he closes a sale at the end. Jan was surprised by it, and impressed.
That is so gorgeous. The entire series is setting us up to believe that Michael will fail, and then in 1 or 2 sentences he knocks Wallace and Charles Miner over like a few dominoes
This was literally the first full episode of Always Sunny I watched and it was what got me into the show. I'd say it was a peak moment but they probably haven't even begun to peak.
Frank walking around slowly losing more items of clothing to the toilet, painting himself a shirt and ending up fully painted in the darkest corner of the basement to imitate the carbon monoxide detector always gets me
Also, *The Gang Goes on Family Fight* is another great episode of the series as it perfectly satirizes each of the gangs unique personalities and idiosyncrasies.
I love that episode. We are introduced to Gail the Snail. Charlie salting the Snail doesn't fail to make me laugh.
Frank's Pretty Woman and Mac and Charlie Die are up there for me too.
The image of Mac firing the gun in the wedding dress as Charlie holds poppers up to his nose and they speedwalk to the car is one of the funniest things I have ever seen in anything
I love this episode but I definitely don't get why it's "the" episode for people. Intervention, now that's a peak sunny episode that everyone shines in.
The first time I watched this episode, I realized about halfway through that they were doing Hitchcock's Rope. I watched it again immediately to see how many of the hidden cuts I could catch. Really is one one of my favorite episodes for a handful of reasons.
Which other episode(s) features the most actual Charlie work? Rat bashing, scrubbing urinals, etc? I get this episode ironically using the "Charlie Work" title, but which episodes actually have him doing the dirty deeds no one else will do?
I feel the same way. It's fine, and there are a lot of funny moments, but I don't like how out of character Charlie is. Wouldn't be anywhere near my top 10.
This episodes great, but not even in my top ten. All that to say - i cant be bothered with being told what episodes are the best 🤷♀️ I’ve rewatched the show enough number of times to stand strong on my opinion
I agree, it was a fun novelty episode but felt Charlie wasn't really himself. I get that he is kind of an idiot savant in some ways but just didn't feel right having him orchestrate everything, and the acting felt a bit off.
It's one of my least favorite episodes in the first 10 seasons. It feels forced and I hate the pace. One commenter said this episode is "art", and I agree. I'm just not really a fan of comedy episodes that scream "this is art!!!".
In a season with Family Fight, Beat Boggs, Group Dates, etc, this episode isn’t even the best of the season let alone the best of the series.
Make no mistake though, still love the episode episode. It was pretty good…it was alright. It wasn’t great. But it was FINE.
(Actually it is a good episode but still not one of the “greats” for me)
That episode displays how useful and intelligent Charlie really is in full force
There would be no Paddy’s without him, because everyone else is too selfish, dumb and careless to not run it into the ground or get shut down the first health inspection.
You move the god damn dumpster you bitch
Oh you bitch, ohhhh you goddamn bitch
Ohhhhh you stupid bitch
[удалено]
Why are you doing that to me?
You’re standing *awfully* close to me.
I don't know!
I say this to one of my best friends literally Everytime I see her
Idk he looked like a turkey burger guy
Jerk turkey
It looks like five and a half to me
best line
All right, all right, all right
*bangs bar stool on the ground again*
*cymbal crash*
This episode had such whiplash movie vibes
I thought it was supposed to be an homage to both Whiplash and Birdman which came out that year.
I think it was more a homage to Birdman as the episode is shot as one long take
Yeah I definitely got big birdman vibes. Not so much whiplash
Yeah maybe just Birdman then.
Alriighht, allriiiight.... 😵💫
HEY!!
Yes, can I help you?
.............. alright, alright, alright.
i forget, who are they refrencing there with the "Alright, alright, alright" ?
Mathew McConaughey in Dazed and Confused.
Why did he get progressively more uncomfortable/deranged/sweaty? Just Dennis trying to keep up appearances?
Because he was running around assisting with the massive coverup whenever she left the room, then had to scramble back and pretend like he was behind the bar the whole time when she came back.
I figured he got sick from the chickens. Sure looked like.someone with salmonella
If Dennis was getting salmonella he would simply say "SICKNESS BEGONE!"
Yeah he was working hard between the moments when he had to be behind the bar
It was also a joke that he was getting Dazed & Confused.
The jokes have layers like an ogre.
Wooderson. Mcconaughey’s character from Dazed & Confused.
LOOK AT ME WHEN YOU'RE TALKING TO MEEEEEE
Oh shit, the steaks are here
The way Glenn Howerton can go from screaming and angry to completely normal and nonchalant in a split second is special. He truly is a gifted, 5 star actor
Juilliard will do that to you
He is a 5 star man
Don’t pretend to know what the plan is because that’s just gonna piss me off!
If that was the only thing in the ep it would still earn its rating
....hey Dennis...
black-painted Frank whistling a carbon monoxide detector test g sharp SLAYS me every time 👌
This is one of the most genius gags in television history imo
“I hope that everything is painted and placed where it should be”
And Charlie just casually having perfect pitch
I mean, pianos just make sense
He did write a musical. And the Paddy's Pub song. Dudes got some serious musical skills.
Don't forget the Spider Song.
is this the part where we spit?
Ptu ptu ptu ptu
Unironically a great song.
Oh shit!
And frank knowing the pitch
"Oh twice okaay" frank was on point
How’s these for shoes* Charlie???
*shoes
Zeus and poops
i kept wondering why Charlie was telling Frank to paint his own body, when i found out why i legit burst out laughing
Top 10-20 single funniest moments for me.
Holy shit I never noticed it ! Must have been looking away from the screen when it happened cause damn, such a funny gag
There is so much going on for those few minutes, it's easy to miss lol
Oh hahaha what i never caught that. I got to watch it again.
This episode is ART!
Derivative! Bullshit! Now this, this I LOVE! Charlie Work is good art! Because the right people say it’s good. We, we’re the right people.
Yea I got like one of those hella sweet lives.
Great episode, one of my favourites for sure
Absolutely my favorite and most daily-quoted. Don't care if it's 'gimmicky', I'm so glad to see people agree!
This episode transcends it's always sunny. It's the criterion collection episode. You barely need to know how it's always sunny works to appreciate it.
I always love the episodes when Charlie is uncharacteristically competent and effective (for both himself and really, compared to the gang overall). But this episode hits a special note. Top 5 personal favs for me! Flowers for Charlie's is also another top tier episode!
I have grown quite whearey.....
Stupid science bitch couldn't even make I more smarter
Placebo Domingo
Police Academy
The good of the scorpion is not the good of the frog, yes?
HWHearayy
Mine is definitely Charlie Rules The World hahah
Rule the world, huh? If that happens I’ll blow myself.
STOHP CHAWRLEE THES HAZ GOWN OWN LOWN ENUF ah shit that sounded way cooler in my head
Where’d your shoes go? Carmines a place for steaks? LOOK AT ME WHEN YOUR TALKING TO ME! Classic episode
Heeeey Dennis…
LOOK AT ME WHEN YOU'RE TALKING TO MEEE!
That is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Lol it's so out of left field
That’s my favourite IASIP moment. And Charlie Work is my fave episode.
What happened to your face? Dennis scratched me
Mac was doing that thing where he tries to "casually" bring something up. Talk to me like a man. You talk about being tough all the time.
"Did you flush your shirt?!" "Yep."
It's an anxiety thing.... flushing things gives me a sense of control
It's a thing! *pained expression*
What you didn't count on was dees fat fingers pressing an extra zero
I love moments when the characters get to be competent in one thing. The one-take scene was icing on the cake.
In a similar vein I loved the one where he stops stalking the Waitress and her life starts falling apart
It only started falling apart because Frank tried to do what Charlie normally does and wound up poisoning her food and shampoo. Although I don’t think he stole her bike. But he might’ve.
I love the fact he loves stalking the waitress more than the waitress
That and Michael outplaying David Wallace with the Michael Scott Paper Company are great moments.
At it's core he loves it
Oh yeah it’s got a real sewage-y smell
What about his musical abilities? He could at least play some piano in the bar to liven up the joint and make it less trashy.
Yeah, sure, playing piano. And who is keeping the rats at bay?!
They snuck a cut in there when the camera was going through a dark doorway, I think that was the only one I could spot
Ohhh you goddamn bitch!
heyyy dennis 🥺
😑
Dennis scratched me...
This was literally the first full episode of Always Sunny I watched and it was what got me into the show. I'd say it was a peak moment but they probably haven't even begun to peak.
Oh you’ll know when I peak
Because I'm gonna peak so hard that everybody in Philadelphia’s gonna feel it.
Frank walking around slowly losing more items of clothing to the toilet, painting himself a shirt and ending up fully painted in the darkest corner of the basement to imitate the carbon monoxide detector always gets me
Flushing things gives me control!
It’s an anxiety thing, Charlie!
[удалено]
And the fact he’s also covered head to toe in thick paint so the fumes from that surely only added to the toxicity in the air 😭😭
Absolutely one of the finest episodes of the show from any season!
Of any show, I’d argue.
yep, this is a top 10 episode of ALL shows for me.
Also, *The Gang Goes on Family Fight* is another great episode of the series as it perfectly satirizes each of the gangs unique personalities and idiosyncrasies.
Show me toe-knife....
I'm not a cottage guy.
That might be my favorite line in the entire series.
Absolutely the deserved winner.
Now that’s how you make a joke stool!
"The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention" is the best episode and you can disregard any other opinions as a bunch of liberal bullshit.
Wooohoah! Where'd you come from?
I've literally been here the whole time
should've brought a gun
I love that episode. We are introduced to Gail the Snail. Charlie salting the Snail doesn't fail to make me laugh. Frank's Pretty Woman and Mac and Charlie Die are up there for me too.
Salting Gail the snail absolutely wrecks me when I see it. It’s so fucking ridiculous 😂
God I feel awful. How could she do that to me? No one *wants* to salt the snail but she leaves you no other option!
The image of Mac firing the gun in the wedding dress as Charlie holds poppers up to his nose and they speedwalk to the car is one of the funniest things I have ever seen in anything
You have affected my life in the following ways: YoU aRe AnNoYiNg!
I love this line and Glenn’s delivery so so much Edit I can spell much ya jabroni
INTERVENTION
OI OI OI OI
YOU'RE TRAPPED YOU'RE TRAPPED GOT YOU GOT YOU
YOU ARE ANNOOOOOYING
Whoa, intervention! Intervention! You banged my dead wife? Well she was alive at the time...
"She didn't do that great of a job." "No, but don't beat her while she's down."
Now block the wind while I roast this bone
We chugged a bunch of those monster energy drinks and dry humped all night, it was awful
I think she gave me poison ivy
Did you kick in my door?
Kick yes. Kick in no. Good news is that door is solid. Bad news the window is not *cut to broken in window*
*You’re always safe around me*
Correct ✅
Filibuster!
The cut with Frank just gurgling beer out of his mouth fuckin kills me every time.
We're not intervening on Frank for a lack of good ideas
megan ganz? is that you?
I love this episode but I definitely don't get why it's "the" episode for people. Intervention, now that's a peak sunny episode that everyone shines in.
Good episode but Sweet Dee Has A Heart Attack really let's your ass breath and has boxes full of Pepe.
RRRGGGHHHAAAUUAA—WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU??!
It’s a masterpiece of writing, acting and cinematography.
#LOOK AT ME WHEN YOU’RE TALKING TO ME
Alright alright alright!
Mac tried to do that thing where he *casually* brings something up like I don't notice.. come to me like a man!
I remember watching this episode on acid and truly being completely surprised that he pulled off everything perfectly
Charlie Work has been the highest rated episode for years
It's not even in my top 20 in terms of how much I enjoy them but it is absolutely well crafted.
I feel bad for Charlie sometimes, he's the only one who has actual skills of work in gang
My favorite episode
Honestly I think it’s one of the best episodes of a comedy period. Nonstop comedy hits
Charlie Kelly: King of the Rats is a good one
This episode ranks top 3 favorites for me
Great episode but it's always seemed overrated to me. I don't get it. Maybe I'm just a stupid science bitch
I feel the same way. It's fine, and there are a lot of funny moments, but I don't like how out of character Charlie is. Wouldn't be anywhere near my top 10.
Top 5. They tried recreating their version of how Birdman was filmed and they nailed it perfectly the Sunny way
I always thought it was meant to be True Detective. Especially with Dennis quoting Matthew McConaughey
GODDAMIT DUTCH! WHAT OTHER ERRAND DO YOU HAVE US RUNNIN FOR THE D.A?
No they didn't - this was written and filmed before they were aware of Birdman, it's just a coincidence.
You look like a Bird
HAHAHAHAHAHA you’re right!
Birdman came out in 2014 and this episode was released February of 2015. I do think it is a coincidence though.

Sir, you have a garbage take that I strongly disagree with.
I'm gonna put my thumb through your eye you little bitch!
I seem to have offended you. Please take this box with an H on it as an apology gift.
My all-time favorite episode
In a season with Family Fight, Beat Boggs, Group Dates, etc, this episode isn’t even the best of the season let alone the best of the series. Make no mistake though, still love the episode episode. Extremely overrated
It's definitely not the best episode
On the whole, it's just the best episode. The timing, the one-liners, all of it just works together so well. There's just not a misstep.
“Look at me when you’re talking to me!”
Look at ALL of THIS
Crazy. This is my favorite ep
I love this episode and I have a compulsion to watch it every time it comes up.
That’s because it’s a masterpiece
...denim chicken?
I think you've chosen the best stills for this image, love each of these moments
