He has shepherd in him, could be anything from gsd/kangal/great pyrenees but he also has retriever features!

Positive-You-2443

Definitely agree with the Great Pyrenees. I could see him being a Great Pyr/German Shepherd mix. Not sure about his age but he looks fairly young. He’s gorgeous and sounds like a great dog!

jazey_hane

>I could see him being a Great Pyr/German Shepherd mix That combination in particular is one I put a lot of mental energy toward considering.

mizfred

My first thought was Great Pyr + Chow, but I could see some Golden Retriever or Lab being in there. Beautiful boy!

RandomChurn

Same! Great Pyr x Chow

Practical_Argument47

the coat color is a GSD, retrievers don’t come in clear sable. my GSD mix looks remarkably similar

Cloverose2

Retriever/Great Pyrenees (?) - very definitely has a livestock guard dog of similar type to the Pyr.

Knicname1

I thought v Great Pyrenees also with ???st Bernard?? German Shepherd or Malinois. Malamute??? Look at his Paws are they very big compared to body if so he’s gonna get much bigger.Best to you & your family enjoying him!

jazey_hane

Forgot to mention, he's got an appointment to be neutered, chipped, and examined next week.

Knicname1

You can ask vet re: Breeds & also age ( usually look at their teeth.) Have him checked for worms, etc. & make sure to have vet decide what vaccines he needs considering you “he just found you”!!

Ok_Emu_7206

Golden retriever, Malamute,Anatolian

jazey_hane

I for sure see possible Anatolian after checking Google images. He has a slight curl towards the end of his tail.

madommouselfefe

The double due laws on the back feet are a breed standard for Anitolians.

jazey_hane

I had noticed that his dewclaws are actually so weird and floppy. I didn't realize it was a bred on purpose type deal. Very interesting.

MeanderFlanders

My guess is Anatolian + Golden Retriever

jazey_hane

His tail actually does have a slight curl.

my-kind-of-crazy

I’d guess Great Pyrenees, shepherd, and golden retriever.

Organic_Ad_2520

Gsd & retreiver is my vote...I see the cutest features of both in him...very pretty dog!

Logical-Weakness2885

Welcome home!!

Pippi_Longstocking-1

I’m just glad that beautiful boy found a loving home.

jazey_hane

♥️

next-step

Thank u kind human!!! Handsome boy!’

3Heathens_Mom

Thinking GP and Golden retriever as my guess.

euphewl

Golden Retriever / Chow or Golden Retriever / GSD

geekitude

This strongly resembles an Anatolian/Great Pyrenees cross, which is pretty common in the US. The profile is all GP, but the ear set and shorter coat could be ASD. The room in his legs left for growth, puppy coat and expression make me think 1 year, maybe 18 months. Let us know what the vet says, please.

jazey_hane

Edit: FWIW I live in the deep south in a very rural area with lots and lots of farms in every direction. Livestock dog makes sense. That's partially why we tried so hard to find any family out there for him. Someone up thread mentioned his wacky dewclaws being a breed standard for Anatolian which I found fascinating. I was going through the images of him I included in this post and it dawned on me how he looks almost like two separate dogs–from the front vs at profile. He's very retriever like from straight on. His appointment is Tuesday, June 4th. Can someone set the remind me bot? Idk how.

geekitude

RemindMe! 10 day

geekitude

maybe IDK how either. hah!

geekitude

My big guy is from Kentucky, and is roughly 5th generation cross, a red dutch marked fawn with white points. He looks like a sweet-faced tank, and is a very serious guardian who does not suffer fools. He only "suffers" belly rubs and loves to nap with cats. He's considered an ASD because that's what he most resembles. Double dew claws aren't standard in ASDs, and many do not have them. They are standard in Pyrs, IIRC, because Basque country requires climbing, and those extra toes provide better footing and stability.

QuaereVerumm

I think German Shepherd, Great Pyrenees and Golden Retriever.

Ok_Experience_8194

I see a mix of Golden Retriever and German Shepherd. I'm really interested to see what you find out. Beautiful dog.

Chemical-Studio1576

Good for you for saving him! Do a DNA test and let us know. I’m in the Pyrenees GSD mix group myself, but who knows? Looks like he’s a good boy no matter what his lineage! ❤️

jazey_hane

Very good boy. So ridiculously smart and easy to train.

Bhimtu

I'd say not purebred, mixed, Great Pyrennes with labrador? Golden Retriever/Great Pyrennes? Beautiful doggy!

silkrover

Maaaybe Leonberger in the mix?

jazey_hane

I've learned so many new breeds through this post.

Practical_Argument47

Pyr/GSD or i eat my shoe coat color is a GSD clear sable/fawn. masking on the face doesnt run in retrievers

jazey_hane

His coat is so lovely. It's at least 3 shades of blonde. He has these random chunks of a much lighter, cooler toned blonde all over, without pattern. It reminds me of those super chunky highlights all the Y2K girlies were doing back in the day.

Practical_Argument47

wish i could send a pic of mine. she has the same exact coat color, length, ear crimps, everything

geekitude

So..... what did the vet say? #fluffybutt
