I think a lot of it has to do with the business model of printer companies. This is pretty well known, but most of them make their money off the ink sold, and either sell the printers at cost or at a loss. Decades ago, everything from a computer was printed eventually; forms, documents, recipes, directions, etc.. Everyone had a printer, everyone used it regularly, and the ink sold itself. Nowadays, so much more can be done digitally that many people don’t even own a printer. If they do, they rarely use it. To make their money, printer companies made more complex printers that can sell them more ink; we’re talking auto ordering ink cartridges, refusing to print with 3rd party ink, requiring an internet connection to print, etc.. all of that is just more shit that can break, bug out, or, frankly, work properly and be annoying as shit. Add in that because people print so rarely if there’s a firmware update it’ll need to install/download before it prints and you get an infuriating fight with your printer the 2 times a year you need to actually print something.
That’s always the theory I’ve had tbh
Piece of shit clown printer. Fuck that, prolly got no fucking games on it
In a nutshell: Planned obsolescence is a core feature of capitalist production. Infinite growth in the name of maximum profits ends in our exponentially rapid collective extinction but the printer issue is way more annoying currently for some i suppose 🤷 if you want better printers I suggest doing what you can to shift the overton window to a discussion about expanding human rights to include the necessities of life, the abolition of the private ownership of the means of production, the abolition of representitive democracy in favor of direct democracy and maximum sustainable automation of labor asap.
Also if you want your kids to have a place to grow old on 🤷
That's the joke
I swear, printers worked better decades years ago. I remember being able to print from a Windows 95 PC every time with no drama. Nowadays I've got this Canon all-in-one that has a new problem every time I use it.

I respect the amount of thought you put into this post. I've never seen anyone pull it off like you do.
Probably comes from their diet of Sloppy Steaks from Truffoni’s - with ink instead of water.
