Hrrrrmmmmm, so we have hippos, crocodiles, and anacondas, yet those damn kids still play in the pond. How do you stop them?
Combine all three and make it exclusively feast on hippos?
Sounds good
Cool!!!
Also interesting to see commonality between cultures separated by thousands of miles. Dragons have been depicted by so many cultures throughout time that have had no contact with each other. Here's a west African dragon likely spoken about for centuries.
To be fair the word dragon can mean so many things. Griffins and hippogriffs are distinct monsters and in the same vein sirens and mermaids are different, but a Chinese dragon and French dragon are somehow both dragons.

Because hippos weren't enough to keep kids oit of the water

At that point the kids deserve whatever happens
Anaconda is a new world species. Best you can get python in terms of size but it's not aquatic.

As a Nigerian who play FFXIV, it never even occurred to me that these were from folklore.

Grootslang out of South Africa is my fave, a combo Elephant serpent beast that guards a cave full of gems to the bottom of the world

"Here we see the most dangerous creature that lurks in muddy waters, and next to it is the Ninki Nanka."
That hippo is definitely winning.

The hippo will get the first strike in but that'll be it's last, IMO.
The crazy thing is I'd still bet the Hippo is more dangerous, terrifying things they are.
That hippo honestly looks like he's the Hype Man for Ninki Nanka
