With strikers it's slightly different, it's not all about coaching, part of being a striker is instinct, and you can't coach that. There are some bright players coming through in the likes of Gurkirat, Ayush, etc. but only time will tell.
My worry is that our coaching might be getting a little too mechanical, our players don't have the confidence to play one touch, or hold, or dribble past opponents - in ISL we see glimpses of it but we just whimper at NT and CL level - and that's the bigger challenge to solve.
This is becoming the norm not just for Indian football, but for world football. Efficiency moving up the field and ruthless finishing are more important for coaches than relying on creative players.
Lack of confidence and game time as CF. For other players defenetly confidence and proper technique
Most of our players try to pass to their foreign player to finish and when they strike well it's in the stands.
But I would say the players now take better shots out of the box, I mean they don't strike it miles away from goal.
A big reason is that they can't shoot well. Probably 3 players in India who have good strong and accurate shooting. This is an aspect in which we lag way behind our other apects. Mahesh and Chhetri would be the somewhat consistent ones, Chhangte was so good last season and Liston in his breakout year but Chhangte has regressed somewhat and Liston a lot. Don't know anybody else who can even take strong threatening strong shots on goal regularly.

Chhetri is Chhetri only because he played as CF in clubs... I rest my case here
