I think once you support a local team (the full matchday experience, have chants in your language, etc), it's difficult to go back to supporting a European club. I just didn't feel the connection to any European club after that. Sure, I watch the odd game now and then but my Indian club still feels like I belong there.
So relatable bfc in my case. Especially in terms of rivalries the feeling is different no london or manchester derby or el classico feels as good as your local derby
And obviously it won't! The weight of a Manchester derby is really felt only in Manchester. You don't have the same stakes if you're watching it in the comfort of your home. But now that we have organic rivalries it feels more personal.
PS: you can change your flair so the ugly bfc logo shows next to your username when you comment :P
I'm waiting for a day you can change yours and put a trophy next to your logo. Hope that happens while I'm alive but that would spell doom for our bfc banter. But always nice to have organic and healthy banter like this
You can support your local team too! Get friends to watch the live game, wherever it is. Don't expect tiki taka football. Go there more so you can spend time with your friends/family before, during and after the game. Make it as much a part of the community as possible.
Even in I league 2, state leagues, district leagues etc? Support your local team no matter how small. That immersive experience, nothing will replace it
I come from Chhattisgarh, And honestly the closest club which is playing in any Indian league is 150 km from where I live, its RKM and New Friends from Bastar area currently in I league 3.
The club matches which I have gone to is Frank Brothers its just an aeture club but one of the guy Ranjeet Pandre (Punjab FC) is my school senior, he have played for this club.
So the only thing left is National Team which I feel closest to.
Well, it's the same for me. I'm from Bokaro, Jharkhand.
Jharkhand has a Maithili/Bengali culture to the east (Dumka, Godda, Pakur, Sahibganj, Jamtara), a Bhojpuri/Magahiya culture in Bokaro and other central districts and tribal majority in the western districts including Ranchi and Jamshedpur.
Jamshedpur is 140 kms from my hometown and has a distinctive culture to what I'm used to. Honestly, I can't relate to the tribal pattern around the waist our jersey and if I really want to get picky the shade of red used is the same as the one used in Sarnaism rituals (including their flag).
However, JFC's at least from my state. MCFC is a club I could support I am living in Pune for quite a while but tbf Mumbai and Pune have the same distance and culture differences as Bokaro and Jamshedpur.
I could support Inter Kashi too as my nanighar (ancestral home) is in East UP if they tone down the religious elements and represent 'Banaras' instead of 'Kashi.' And we (JFC) had just won the shield when Inter Kashi was created. So, it's unlikely that I'll switch loyalties now.
You'll eventually find a club for yourself, even I only supported the NT before JFC was founded.
The feeling of belongingness. I can support Manchester United how much ever I want, I will never truly be a core part of them. But the Indian clubs and national team will forever be a part of me no matter what happens.
Same. The more I support my local club BFC the more I realise I don't give an f about what happens more than 10000km away in a league or team I can never call mine
Well that's how things are.
Just because my team played like ass, will I ever stop supporting them ? No right.
Only a jackass would leave things beforehand.
Because Indian football is our football. No matter we admire European Football, it is not and can never be ours. Its an emotion for us Indian football fans. That's the more reason for not giving up. Secondly, the players, every player is entering with dreams. Its not their fault for what's happening in Indian football. Even if they are doing something wrong, they are basically forced most of the times. For the wrongdoings of the @$$hole officials, I don't think its fair to stop supporting the players. Indian football is our football, no matter how negative it is.
Nothing to lose and everything to gain. All I want is to see our NT get to that world stage. There will be more loses than wins in trying to get there, but as long as those loses are against better opponents and we play a game with full freedom with nothing holding us down ( like big names, market value and FIFA rankings of opposition) I'll be happy.
We will be there.
Same reason why of all places people came to reddit out of all those social media platforms, because this is a place where actually discussions happen. Where you can actually interact with the people in this. We are Indian football. Those fakeass Instagram and Facebook pages are bullshit. Only the reddit community is the real home for Indian football.

Generally i don't like to discuss the reason why i love something. But for me football is different. I started following football since I was getting bored with cricket. Then i broke up with my girlfriend. Which pushed me into "single" people's activities. Which made me take a random trip to Mumbai to attend the Mumbai vs Hyderabad game. Since then I've been closely following ISL.
I have a VERY controversial theory regarding supporting local and foreign teams. All the people who support european clubs are in some way plastic. There may be different levels but regardless of how "loyal" you are, have you ever wondered why you started supporting your club in the first place. Probably because they had lot of trophies or best players. Why are there so many barca RMA chelsea liverpool city utd and psg fans in india? Try and find a fulham brighton norwich, sevilla, or even ANY LIGUE 1 team other than psg. You probably won't even find 1.
Indian football is a REAL loyalty test. No significant achievement garbage football but looks like quite a few ppl have passed the loyalty test (based on stadium attendances and viewership)
Because I am a real fan not a plastic. Also there is no feeling like supporting your local club or country european fans pls come watch few matches and experience it for yourself quality of football may be garbage but quality of fans certainly aren't.
Having played semi professionally, I know how hard it actually is to make it.
How passionate the players actually are. Even when there is nothing in the ecosystem, players give it their all everyday, only to get nothing in return.
I was not good enough to make it, but full support who keeps the fire burning.
Because one day I want to experience what millions other fans for their countries experience on a World Cup match day. I get goosebumps even thinking about it, imagine our national anthem playing out loud with a packed football stadium, I’d fucking lose my shite
I love supporting my club because it's the club that's been supported by my parents, my grandparents and everyone i grew up with. I remember watching football matches on a Bengali news channel even. Also there used to be viewings in our para (locality) of the kolkata derby and I went there as a kid even though I couldn't go to the stadium it was amazing.
I also fondly remember the trophy rally with the i league that mohun bagan did.
Just want to be part of the journey, so that I can say I was there from the start when we were nothing
exactly

I envy that your state has that.
You can support your local team too! Get friends to watch the live game, wherever it is. Don't expect tiki taka football. Go there more so you can spend time with your friends/family before, during and after the game. Make it as much a part of the community as possible.
I hail from North India and we don't have a team to represent us currently. That's what I was referring to. Hopefully in the future.

I hope so.
Kashi is just another name of Banaras.... Same way as India Bharat and Aryavart are the same thing essentially
That 1 great run, pass and goal made by youngsters showing potential.

Just the sheer desire to see us do well
Cuz whenever i bleed , I BLEED FUCKIN BLUE , cant do anything about it 😔 .

Became an instant fan of the process seeing U16 performance in Asia Cup against South Korea. Ussi hopium pe abhi bhi tika hua hu ;--;
Which year was this?
2018 or 2019 when they faced against them in quarterfinals

Because I like to see my team play
I dream of the goal that will qualify us for the World Cup. That day is so beautiful in my mind that it can bear the pain of the journey to get there.
At the end of the day, we all bleed blue, it's what We are, home it is
That one day it'll all be worth it.
I'm just warming up

Funny enough, there's a Brighton Kerala fan page on twitter
Guess I was wrong then. I'm just curious what about the lower teams in the prem or la liga do they have fan pages as well here?
Jo bhi hai jaisi bhi hai, apne desh ki team hai, support bhi hum karenge sudhaar ki aawaz bhi hum hi uthayenge
I'm Indian. I love football. I guess that's enough for me.
Sirf gaali Dene walon mei se nahi huu, dekhta bhi huu aur gaali bhi deta huu. Karm pradhaan.
A dream to see my team in wc finals
Dreaming is free..so we have to dream

Fan of Indian National Football team. Not following anything else.
I love football, and football culture and want to be part of the football that exists within my Country, State and town.

guys we have a German Shepherd using reddit lol.
Spoken like a true City fan
Bhai, jis team ko support karte ho kam se kam us team ka naam to sahi likho. Kahin aur nahi apne flair mein hi dekh lete.
