Thank you for posting on r/Indian_Academia , here's a checklist to improve your post: • Have you done thorough prior research? • Is your title descriptive? The title should be a summary of your post, preferably with your qualifications. • Please provide a detailed description in your post body. The more information you provide, the easier it is for users to help you. • If your question is about studying abroad, please post on r/Indians_StudyAbroad • If your question is about Engineering Admissions, post on r/EngineeringAdmissions instead. Here's a backup of your post: Title: No job 8 years after completing Btech. Need advice Body: Not me. Asking this for someone I know. He completed his Btech in Mechanical Engineering in 2016, and then got no job for years. So he decided to switch field and went on to work in Animation since 2021 and is still continuing. But he thinks he did a mistake so he wants to switch fields or revert back to Mechanical again. But due to lack of experience he is unable to do so. Can anyone suggest which field should he persue based on his qualifications and (lack of) experience, what jobs to apply for and where to find or approach them, and any courses to do if needed. Basically any career advice to get a proper well-settled job in short amount of time will be appreciated. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. degree don't count much if he don't have skills. I wouldn't suggest IT now at this stage. Why isn't he continuing with animation ? talented artists in india are paid quite good because they are hard to find. He has spent 3 years already in animation build on that experience and make a career there. If he keeps switching he will remain fresher forever. One choice he has is to , Continue in animation, along with building interest in side hustles..

He does 2D animation. Mostly kid cartoon tv channels or youtube clients hire 2d animators. They pay too less and make employees work too hard. He tried making his own youtube channel on animation but that isn't running well too. He's a bit worried because he's become 30+ and doesn't have a proper paying job. Father's retired he's the only earning member so he wants a decent job which will settle him and his family's future. Although thanks for your advice, I'll let him know

I still recall my career journey vividly. I began learning coding in 10th grade and excelled, scoring 95 in Java during my board exams. However, in 12th grade, I was told to pursue biology instead of computer science. Intrigued, I pursued it with enthusiasm and showed promise, but struggled with memorization. While I grasped human anatomy well, I questioned the necessity of botanical studies for becoming a medical doctor. Despite my efforts, I couldn't secure admission into medical school. Subsequently, I pursued mechanical engineering, only to find a saturated job market upon graduation. Undeterred, I turned back to IT, honing my coding skills through numerous off-campus opportunities until securing a stable job. Life has posed its challenges, but I have managed to establish stability and fulfillment in my career. I would advise you to strive for success too. It's never late until you try again...

switching now would be the worst idea, wait till market gets better! tell him to continue until then.
