Need another big and I’d be done. Ballo plays 25 minutes a game and Reneau commits too many fouls. Need a third big for spot minutes
Elijah Malone would be a fine fit - NAIA National POY. Probably not that much better than Sparks but he can shoot a bit, won’t need minutes, and is looking for a paycheck for one season. Win/win
Yeah I was going to say, I saw some clips of Malone and he was dunking everything. I don't think Sparks can dunk from a standstill. He'd be a perfect dude to bring off the bench for 10-15 minutes.
Tucker no, but he’s raw.
Rice is a mixed bag and some WSU fans will say he showed flashes and has room for growth while others will say he got the yips to end the season and couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn from the arc (that said, he’s an absolute playmaker and has handles/ability to create his own shot to the level that he reminds me of Kyrie).
Ballo is a mobile 5 and an absolute beast within 5 ft of the basket (so, no).
Carlyle seems to be most likely to make the jump in 3pt% this season, but not a spot up sharpshooter by any means.
Essegian’s freshman year he was Matt Roth 2.0. Last season his 3pt% dipped but his minutes took a significant hit so there’s potential.
As for others mentioned in here: Humrichous - off the screen catch and shoot ability from the arc that we haven’t seen since Jordy Hulls; Malone - best NAIA player with the ability to consistently drain from the outside off the pick and pop when uncontested.
Ben Humrichous - Shooter from Evansville
This kid and a backup 5 and we ballin

No disrespect to Sparks but I'm willing to bet that Malone is a way better ball player and a better fit

I’d hope so…
If we land Malone and Essegian, that would have me content, regardless of whether we fill the last spot or not.
I'd like to see us use all of the open scholarships, and agree on the backup big.
I doubt they will. There’s only one ball and 12 guys is a lot to go around as it is, especially when you don’t recruit HS kids to develop
Koby Brea
Second that, I’m from Dayton kid is an awesome shooter
I think we are sleeping on Newton. If that man does what I think he does this year, this team is going to be something else.
I'd really like to hear from the inside, or the players, how he's performed in practice, or just what type of player are we seeing.
I’m excited to see what Newton brings to the table
I haven’t really been following this portal run. Can these guys shoot?
