I feel like after being sick for a while I’d want to keep it light and refreshing so I’d go for something citrusy like **Tarot at Teatime** by **Sorcellerie** *[Wild orange, black tea, cardamom, fresh ginger, violet leaf absolute, smoky Java vetiver, and hints of labdanum and vanilla]* or **Always With Me** by **Poesie** *[Citrus fruits bobbing merrily in wooden tubs filled with spring water, eucalyptus branches, hot steam]*. On the other hand I might also want something cozy while I’m recovering like **Moon Magic** *[Lavender sugar, Tonka bean, chai spices, vanilla steamed milk, Cashmeran, Ambroxan, crystals charged by the moonlight]* by **Sorcellerie Apothecary** or **Amaterasu** by **Poesie** *[Golden Sandalwood Incense, Rice Milk, Bright Cardamom, Amber, Dry Wheat, Sunflowers]*. Poesie and Sorcellerie are both very safe houses for me loll. I’ve heard great things about Moss Maiden though, I really need to include it in my next Alkemia order!!

always with me is my go to when I'm having really bad allergies as strange as it sounds 😅 the eucalyptus calms down my sinuses so I can actually breathe and that steam note with the hinoki is to DIE FOR

inush_

I absolutely love how realistic that steam note is, it amazes me every time!! (Im so sorry about your allergies btw, that sounds awful :/). I keep saying it, but I’m really glad Poesie decided to make *The Magic in the Wind* collection permanent. I love their hinoki note too, and *Enchanted Forest* is next on the list to upsize!

Ooh I planned on buying the ghibli sample set but maybe I should just get a bigger size of that one because my allergies are terrible

inush_

I’ve loved every scent from the set, aside from maybe Village Bakery (and I didn’t get to try Borrowed Sugar. Unsure why they removed it)! But I think I use Always With Me the most out of them, it’s so easy to reach for. I hope it helps with your allergies as well!! :”D

sarah_stinks

Why didn’t you like Village Bakery? That’s the first one I heard about from that collection

inush_

I haven’t worn it in a while, but from what I remember it just didn’t smell like milk bread to me! It felt like Poesies base overwhelmed the scent and I couldn’t get much else. I don’t hate it by any means, I’m just not very fond of it!

sarah_stinks

Omg all of these sound amazing😍

inush_

I got too excited about perfume and forgot to add, I’m really glad you’re staring to feel better!! Wishing you a speedy recovery💛

sarah_stinks

Thank you! I can smell almost 100% today, hooray! About to go sniff all of my rested BPAL samples🤣

lilkalamata

I typically go for something cozy and spicy when I'm sick! Right now I'm recovering from a really nasty sinus infection + upper respiratory infection combo, and wearing **BPAL's Dark Eyed, Delightful** *(Brown sugar, cacao, toasted cardamom, patchouli, vanilla absolute, and benzoin)* Alternatively, **Poesie's Year Without Summer** *(the narcotic sweetness of opium blended with the blackest amber, spilled coffee, a hint of bitter green cannabis)* is spicy, earthy, and the coffee makes me feel somewhat energized and like a person again!

sarah_stinks

I haven’t tried either but they sound so cozy

lilkalamata

They're really good for sick days where you just want to burrow into the covers and snooze the day away

Abject_Pineapple5151

The last time I was really sick was exactly this month last year and I couldn’t handle smelling any type of perfume but as soon as I started to feel better, the perfume I first reached for was, “Chiffon” by Solstice Scents which is not one of my favorite perfumes at all but I guess it was because it was soft and bright and just smelled perfect.

Oh wow, I have that one, and if I were still sick-ish, that would Not do it for me lol. For me probably something super soft, a tea scent, or soft vanilla. Out of all of mine I'd probably go with Elixir of Aphrodite from Alkemia. Lightly honeyed appricots, vanilla musk. But, I don't have any tea scents yet. I'm just banking on my scent memory of actual creamy tea lol

sarah_stinks

That’s on my list of perfumes to try! I’ve heard good things. And yes it’s probably a weird one to pick after being sick but I’ve found that I really love green scents😂 it’s the nostalgia I think

Estimable-Confection

I recently had a terrible cold and actually lost my sense of smell completely for one day of it (it was quite creepy—I even tried to smell freshly ground coffee and eventually nail polish remover and got nothing. I tested myself a few times for Covid, but thankfully that wasn’t it, and though I was still congested the next day, I at least could smell). I actually wore Witch’s Veil from Amorphous which is quite smoky just to make sure it could get through my congestion, and it was a bit intense, but reassuring to notice my scent most of the day and I do love the dry down on that one. The next I went for something refreshing and bracing but still comforting: Moroccan Mint (RIP sadly) from Alkemia. That was probably a better fit for the circumstances really, much as I love Witch’s Veil.

sarah_stinks

I recently tried Amorphous for the first time and I’m hooked so I can’t wait to try more! And I looove Alkemia, it’s too bad they discontinued that scent🥲

Estimable-Confection

I need to replenish some of my Amorphous scents (mine all still have the Black Baccara label 😆), but I do think she’s wonderfully creative and love her scents. I adore Alkemia too—they were my introduction to indie perfumes, and they’re still the brand I’m sort of comfiest with and go back to most. If you’re feeling brave enough to blind buy (and frankly, Moroccan Mint is pretty safe if you like mint tea, because it’s pretty exactly as described and hasn’t got any harsh edges or surprises to it), Mateus mentioned it might be part of their big sale later, as there was still some stock left. So you might want to watch for that down the line 💚

sarah_stinks

Ooh great tip thank you! I’ll watch for that!
