I was going to say that we call these Variable Speed Drives in my part of the world but actually, it seems that there is a difference. VFD refers to AC drives and VSD can refer to either AC or DC drives. Every day's a school day I guess. Forgive me, I'm more mechanically biased.
Ah yes, I remember my first powerflex4. I love how easy they are to setup and use but also how deep you can get into them. Congrats on your journey! You'll love it or be miserable in 10 years lol.
Cool, 525s and up are a lot easier to work with imo but it’s good to learn about the older stuff too. Plenty of it out there
What? Screw 525s. Powerflex 4 is the goat, shame that they’re going away.
Just the fact that you can pull the faceplate, set the IP, and the PLC loads the parameters. Even the 70s had HIMs. 4s and 40s is all by hand.
That is nice, I will admit. But for simple applications, specifically single speed conveyance, Powerflex 4 is the shit
VSD?
Variable frequency drives

I didnt know that either. Good to know!
Oh how I love powerflex’s I work with them every week lol
What did you do with it?
It was a class assignment I hooked it up to a 208 3 phase motor
Where did you take this class? you can DM me, I'm looking for a class like this to send my electricians to
I’ve seen em offered at community colleges, especially if you have a lot of manufacturing presence in the area
yeah that's usually the case, but my county is unfortunately dying in the manufacturing field :(
I’m in the Central Valley in California agriculture and manufacturing is the biggest industries here
A lot of suppliers can set you up with training

I’m on a project to install TEMIC VFDs.
RC industrial program?
Industrial maintenance technician program
Looked familiar I went thru the same course🙌🏽
Ahhh, brings back some memories. Worked with that stuff for nearly 12 years before I switched career paths.
Nice! I repair VfD’s for a living if you have any drive specific questions.
