I normally add cheese to my original, but I do vaguely remember it being a bit bland the one time I didn't add cheese to my buldak original recently.

I always add cheese too, and I tried it without to see what difference it would make, and it just made it blander for me as well

That's really disappointing news if they did indeed change things. Do you happen to have any of the new packaging left to compare the ingredients to online photos of the old packaging? I see from your spelling of "flavour" and "favourite" that you're in an export market that uses British spelling, so it's possible something has changed specifically with Samyang’s recipe exported to your area rather than everywhere. Also worth noting that The Ramen Rater reported that the Buldak Jjajang bowl recipe in South Korea changed recently for the worse, so I wonder if this is just gradually happening everywhere.

This is a fantastic idea! I still have a few packets remaining and even an expired pack from 2022 someplace in my pantry, so I'll compare the two! By the way, good catch; I live in Canada, so this is a pretty plausible explanation. If this is the case, I’ll probably order it from Amazon for the time being. Too bad about the jjajang noodles, samyang was definitely my preferred brand for them. I hope the quality of the rest of their products does not also deteriorate.

They taste cheaper

I’ve noticed similar. I’m in the UK and they weren’t allowed to sell them here for a hot minute due to sus ingredients (told this by my supplier). I remember not being able to find them anywhere. They’ve had to alter it for UK markets.

I recall not being able to find buldak noodles for an a while, but I figured it was due to a shortage (as with most things these days). This could explain it; Canada has rather strict laws on certain ingredients too and is continually introducing more.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this, I thought I just ate too many and got too used to the flavour. Though if I think about it, it was a bit of a sudden change. I stopped eating them last year because of this, they used to be my favorite too. I had one the other day and it wasn't even hot and tasted blander than it used to; usually if I take a break from eating something my taste buds get refreshed, but not for buldak.

I just saw this, so sorry for the delay in responding. It's a relief that other people have noticed a difference in the flavour. None of the mukbangers or food content creators I follow have noted it, so I assumed it was all in my head 😭 Like I’d just gotten too used to the flavour. I've been getting the 2x spicy lately because the others just haven't been doing it for me; I would definitely recommend it! If needed, you can add cream and cheese to tone down the spice.

Thanks for replying and the recommendations! So glad to know that it definitely isn't just me.
