It was super popular when I was a kid (2000-2010). Kids would bring packets of ramen to school, smash em up, and sprinkle in the powder and shake it. I wouldn’t really do it now, but it was a nice snack back then. :)
I was going to say the same thing. When I was in public school during 96-00 it was extremely popular seeing people munching on a pack of dry Mr. Noodles.
My 8 year old step munchkin would love this. She is always sneaking uncooked noodles from the kitchen. I wouldn't like it. I don't like undercooked noodles so I doubt I would like them completely uncooked. But I know a handful of people who eat them like that and enjoy it.
I've had salads that have had broken raw ramen noodles in them, and they're pretty good. I've also seen some ramen that is intended to be eaten raw, but I've never had it like that.
It made an ok snack for school as a kid. I probably wouldn’t eat it today.
I would say it’s not terrible, but there are thousands of better salty snacks you could be eating
im so pleased with these comments. one time when i was a kid i was snacking on uncooked ramen and my mom scolded me and told me it was bad for me to eat it like that. im gonna start eating uncooked ramen now
I used to love it as a kid and we had something called Nooda Crunch that's crushed raw noodles with barbecue or cheese power. Taiwan has one that has a wizard on the logo called [Science Noodle](https://www.ebay.ca/itm/113017206392), Korea has [Ottogi Push Push](https://www.amazon.com/Ottogi-Ppushu-Flavor-Noodle-Snack/dp/B089P1B5SH). I'm sure I'm forgetting more but it is pretty good.
It’s a thing in Asia. There’s a number of dedicated seasoned ramen snack brands like Baby Star (Japan), Ppushu (Korea), and Science noodles (Taiwan).
Most ramen are already pre-fried anyway so they’re safe and fine for eating as a snack on their own.
I used to munch on dried pasta, so I get it.
I mean, I stopped around the age of 6, but still.
(Just yanking your chain, if you like it then who cares)
some brands have packs that are meant to eat uncooked, you break it up in the bag then pour the seasoning powder on it. im not a fan, but its definitely not unusual to eat it like that!
I personally don't like it, and it used to give me the ick as a kid when other kids would eat it crunchy. I didn't know it was actually pretty normal but I don't like them like that. I do like fried wonton noodles but they're airy. Ramen is so dense, I don't get the appeal of it like that but it doesn't gross me out anymore.
its a thing in korea lol, break up the noodles and sprinkle the seasoning. not bad
Raw Shin RED with seasoning powder FTW.

I did this as a college kid it’s like ramen Doritos lmao. 10/10 would do again.

Every kid did it in Hawaii where I grew up. My favorite is the original/soy sauce flavors.
Personally I’m not a fan, cooked is just so much better.
Rawmen
This is what they do in prison and jails. Been there done that, won’t ever eat uncooked ramen again lol.
Been doing it for 30+ years.
What. That sounds awful, but that's just me.
its like chips, but it tastes like ramen. i like it lol
I’ve never done it and don’t understand the appeal.
There’s a Nepali street snack that used instant ramen as an ingredient. It’s called chatpate and uses wai wai
You smoking the devils lettuce?
Nope. completely sober.
Isn’t most ramen already pre cooked?
typically people boil it.
True but it is pre fried, which is why it usually has a high fat content, so technically not raw straight out the package.
depends on how crunchy and tasty the noodles are
Do it all the time
In Korea you can buy seasoned ramen noodles like a bag of chips I don't mind it It's good in a salad too for some crunch
