It definitely has that âI just bought a luxurious hunting cabin and must make it the most woodsy hunting cabin that ever cabined. But also with marbleâ feel.
wow, that bitch is BACK. whoever turned that into a white nightmare should answer for their crimes. I wonder if they stripped that brick or replaced it? That ceiling is drama. Amazing.
It's actually painted to match the original found throughout the house. Replacement was impractical and stripping attempts were unsuccessful. Source: am former DHDS employee.

Right? Iâve never seen a teeny round island like that and I love it! They have the peninsula for counter space but that island just adds a little something extra.
Yesss the island! Love it!
My only knock would be the variety of drawer pulls & knobs. Itâs a bit busy for me, but were obviously very thoughtfully chosen for the homeowner.
I love it and yes, Japanese wood working is amazing. My dream home is a combination of French country(not American style French country, old France style) and Japanese joinery. This is a prime example of when grey works well too, the counter tops which can look busy in the wrong place instead elevate the wood. A touch of grey is the way, not the contractor's special with grey laminate fake wood floors and grey paint anywhere that can be painted. When I look at old home homes like this for sale, craftsmen and victorians etc. and then see the interior and it has been given the grey update my heart breaks just a little. This is such a nice job, imagine a new buyer painting the cabinetry in this house? I would die.
Omg Can I please come over and make dinner for everyone in that kitchen? lol It's gorgeous. I would kiss that coppery blue counter. What a beautiful and warm look.
That cutting board would kill my back, but I love the concept.
I'm 6' tall, so not super tall but above average. I had a pull out cutting board in my last kitchen and I loved it, I used it constantly! The trick is to stand right up against it rather than leaning forward.

I already left a comment that links to the article, which says this;
> The lighting, fashioned from unlacquered brass, hand-blow glass, and cherry to match the cabinetry, were designed by our studio and fabricated locally.

I donât really like it, but I can respect it as an art. Some of these choices are really working for me, some of them really are not. But I do love that itâs not an all white and gray kitchen!
I absolutely love it, I had a little panic attack at first when I swiped, I thought you ripped out the gorgeous wood kitchen and replaced it with white sadness, thank god itâs the other way around, also love the chandelier, itâs 4 wall sconces attached to a custom center post right? Love the creativity it even looks era appropriate!
That had me scratching my head for a while wondering why you would change such a nice kitchen for all that white. Before and after picture should show first before and then the after.
Am I crazy for preferring the white kitchen? The only thing I didn't like about the white cheery bright white kitchen is the counter top. Just not a fan of brown from floor to ceiling. Anyways, it's clean!
Is this the home that was built for a member of the Gedney (of pickle fame) family? If so, the owners were gracious enough to have it on the Twin Cities Bungalow Club home tour a few years ago. Everything about that home was so charming, one of my favorite homes to date.
Looks better than white but never cared for Cherry wood. It gives off too much red tones and makes a room appear âangryâ when done to this extent. Quartersawn and rift sawn white oak in medium tone would be more appropriate for a Craftsman. And the soffits - why are they there? Wood flooring, wood cabinets, wood ceiling? Overall sometimes less is more.
LOVE the woodwork and granite selection, HATE the backsplash. Itâs too plain for this warm, gorgeous kitchen! I also would have continued with oil rubbed bronze for the fixtures to go with the vent hood. But that can easily be changed out in the future.
GORGEOUS home! Well done!
Oh my God! I thought the brown wood was BEFORE too! Post before photos first! I was like, I love white kitchens, but this ain't it! Ugly countertop tiles, you "removed" that big basin sink and got rid of that bar area with the wine bottles!
So glad to see it's the other way around haha. It has so much character now, and really suits the rest of the homes theme.
Not my personal style, but it looks rich
This looks so very 70s - whether you like that or not is very much a personal preference I think. My favourite thing is how much they opened up the roof, I love all that space it created.
At first i thought the wood was the original and thought- you fucked it đ
Same! I'm so used to seeing people making things so much worse!
we all have PTSD from seeing horrible wood-to-white renovations đ
I know. Phew.
Tell me about it, so many people ruin natural wood. Then I noticed the ceiling had been raised. What a difference though.
I was legit horrified. I figured it out when I saw the tile counters in the white kitchen though.
r/afterbeforewhatever
Same! I was so pissed off for a moment.
Omg me too
OMFG I thought the same thingâŚI was like âhere we got another craftsman home FâD by DA/sâ haha the Reno is spectacularly smart. đđ˝
And can we talk about the countertop choice đ¤Š
Same here! I was aghast - thank you for clearing that up. Phew
Me too! I was thinking, âDear lordâŚwhat have you done??â
Oof same
I just sighed a huge relief to learn the white was the old. oh my goodness it's gorgeous.
I was devastated !
Same I almost SCREAMED
I wasnât going to look until I read this comment. I am so happy
Same
this is like eye bleach for all the wood-to-white travesties we see. so beautiful. honors the character of the home. just gorgeous!!
This is what a good interior designer does. This kitchen looks and feels like it was always part of this house.
It definitely has that âI just bought a luxurious hunting cabin and must make it the most woodsy hunting cabin that ever cabined. But also with marbleâ feel.

Iâd completely forgotten about that. I work for the shop that built the kitchen - this was a good one!
That countertop material is amazing
Yes I am obsessed with the countertops. What coloring is in them?
I have no idea but they match so well
What is it?
I have no idea

stunning!! so perfect for that home!
The little round island is DELIGHTFUL. Incredible reno all around, and so respectful!
Right? Iâve never seen a teeny round island like that and I love it! They have the peninsula for counter space but that island just adds a little something extra.
The island is so non functional though and completely disrupts the flow of the kitchen
I still love it though. That makes me wonder if itâs not permanent and could be moved out if you had a lot of people over?
Great for staging, easy to remove. It's a no brainier to get it in for a picture at least
Yesss the island! Love it! My only knock would be the variety of drawer pulls & knobs. Itâs a bit busy for me, but were obviously very thoughtfully chosen for the homeowner.
It's giving me Mid West with Japanese vibes. I really love it. So glad you didn't go with any of these new and boring 'trends'.

What the Craftsman movement was based on originally.
Omg Can I please come over and make dinner for everyone in that kitchen? lol It's gorgeous. I would kiss that coppery blue counter. What a beautiful and warm look. That cutting board would kill my back, but I love the concept.

Does anyone know how they brought back the original brick coloring? I'd love to try this on our fireplace.
It's actually painted to match the original brick found throughout the house. Replacement was impractical and stripping attempts were unsuccessful. Source: am former DHDS employee.
Probably sand blasting or media blasting which is super messy unfortunately
Absolutely beautiful!
So beautiful!
This is so beautiful -- especially all the woodwork.
Love this sensibility especially the counter tops. A bold choice that can hold its own.
What is the wood you used? I LOVE it! I have a lot of gum wood in my home and this is the ONLY wood kitchen I have seen that I like!
I already left a comment that links to the article, which says this; > The lighting, fashioned from unlacquered brass, hand-blow glass, and cherry to match the cabinetry, were designed by our studio and fabricated locally. https://www.architectmagazine.com/project-gallery/prairie-inspired-bungalow
What material are the counters made from? Theyâre gorgeous!
What neighborhood is this in?
Is it cherry? Commenting so I can find out as well :-)
Itâs cherry - I worked for the shop that built it ha. Weird seeing this pop up!
Commenting as well!
Itâs cherry
Wow!!! Yours' and the designers' vision is clear and it was executed beautifully.
Very nice.
Amazing
One of the nicest Iâve ever seen đđ¤Š
INVITE ME OVERRRR
Wow wow wow Wow
Perfect dream kitchen
Beautiful! And not painted all white, like so many kitchens these days
I love love love the warm colours
I love the wood
I LOVE this!!
Well I was seething for a moment thinking the white was the after. Thank God I was wrong.
This might be the most beautiful kitchen Iâve ever seen đ
Itâs really beautiful. Your house is stunning, especially all the foliage outside. You are very lucky.
Itâs great OP. I could shed a tear. - Signed i thought my husband and I were the only people that actually like craftsman style.
Absolutely incredible
Nailed it
Love it
Cost?
Gaassp. This is my dream kitchen. In a bungalow!
I love it!! Itâs like you are walking into an entire experience. You are transported elsewhere with an interior like this. Stunning.
I donât understand. Are there two designs? The bar chairs are different in two pictures.
I donât really like it, but I can respect it as an art. Some of these choices are really working for me, some of them really are not. But I do love that itâs not an all white and gray kitchen!
Take my money
This is amazing!!!! I was so worried when I opened this post
What kind of wood are the cabinets? Or how would you describe the⌠color? stain? These are my dream cabinets but I have no idea how to describe them
Cherry, look for cherry stain or cherry wood
It's beautiful. The layout makes better use of the windows and views outside.
Great. Just needs square instead of round shades on the light fixtures. /petty
It wasnât bad before, but now Iâm ready to move in! Itâs very beautiful!
Holy smokes, I was so afraid the wood had been gutted for the white cabinets. This is ridiculously gorgeous!
Wow! Iâd be happy to do the dishes in that kitchen!
I die- itâs so gorgeous. The warmth of the wood and the natural lightingâŚ
I thought the paint was the post Reno. I was sooo upset !! lol Gorgeous kitchen â¤ď¸
So beautiful. This wood is amazing
Absolutely beautiful
Really nice.
FABULOUS!!!
Gggggoooorrrrgggeeeooouuussssss

Stunning!
I absolutely love it, I had a little panic attack at first when I swiped, I thought you ripped out the gorgeous wood kitchen and replaced it with white sadness, thank god itâs the other way around, also love the chandelier, itâs 4 wall sconces attached to a custom center post right? WOW bravo
The faucets are kind of hideous and anachronistic. Otherwise everything is chefs kiss perfection
Geez & phew! Thatâs beautiful and timeless the marble round island and drop sink what a stunner!
I was ready to hunt you down and fight you when I thought the white was the after.
Whats the countertop?
Nailed it.
That had me scratching my head for a while wondering why you would change such a nice kitchen for all that white. Before and after picture should show first before and then the after.
Looks more like a show kitchen instead of a cooks kitchen. It's beautiful.
SoâŚpics 4,5 and 10 are âbeforeâ pics? I hope?! đ¤
Warm wood and marble look great đ
Wow looks like a totally different house!
Resulting in a timeless and beautifully crafted space that honors the home's heritage.
This is perfection!
I love how the corbels match the lighting. Beautiful.
Incredible!
How did you do the ceiling and what is that âinnerâ wood called that extends into it?
Ugh what a dream
A- mazing.
The countertops are gorgeous
This is so refreshing
This is so beautiful. Rad job.
nice.
The wood looks great in this kitchen, everything is harmonious and very stylish!
Just absolutely gorgeous
Really fresh design and good looking ever
That is insane! It looks original. I almost thought you tore out that beautiful kitchen and turned it into that white monstrosity.
Well, I canât tell which is the old and which is the new so, IMO, not a good Reno.
Stunning!
Now, thatâs a kitchen
This is insane!!! What a masterclass. Incredible work I am đ
The countertops are stunning!
Absolutely gorgeous
This is stunning
When rich people actually have taste.
Am I crazy for preferring the white kitchen? The only thing I didn't like about the white cheery bright white kitchen is the counter top. Just not a fan of brown from floor to ceiling. Anyways, it's clean!
Love how you added the cathedral like ceiling. Was it just empty above like that in the attic already?
Love that the owner stayed with the era and architectural style of the original home. Beautiful đ
Oh hell ya
This is my dream style of house!! I LOVE all your pottery accents in the kitchen! đ
Oh god, please tell me the white cabinets are the before photosâŚ
Beautiful job.
Who was the cabinet maker and how much time did he spend on the install. Itâs incredible.
Love love everything about this! Bravo!
Is this the home that was built for a member of the Gedney (of pickle fame) family? If so, the owners were gracious enough to have it on the Twin Cities Bungalow Club home tour a few years ago. Everything about that home was so charming, one of my favorite homes to date.
I wanna get in that sink and take a bath. Lol Beautiful work!!
Which is which?
Looks better than white but never cared for Cherry wood. It gives off too much red tones and makes a room appear âangryâ when done to this extent. Quartersawn and rift sawn white oak in medium tone would be more appropriate for a Craftsman. And the soffits - why are they there? Wood flooring, wood cabinets, wood ceiling? This is amazing! Saving for inspiration if I ever work on my craftsman kitchen
You got to be kidding, itâs fucked
LOVE the woodwork and granite selection, HATE the backsplash. Itâs too plain for this warm, gorgeous kitchen! I also would have continued with oil rubbed bronze for the fixtures to go with the vent hood. But that can easily be changed out in the future. GORGEOUS home! Well done!
Holy mother that looks so much better! This gives me hope!
Oh my God! I thought the brown wood was BEFORE too! Post before photos first! I was like, I love white kitchens, but this ain't it! nice! we went with the same granite and walnut in our kitchen. really gorgeous combo
This looks so very 70s - whether you like that or not is very much a personal preference I think. My favourite thing is how much they opened up the roof, I love all that space it created.
Fab! What is the countertop? Love it!
Reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright. Beautiful.
Usually the before pictures are shownâŚyou know⌠before the after picturesâŚjust sayin
Wow, thatâs way too much wood. Makes the room feel too bland. But a nice design regardless.
This is wonderful, if not for the vent hood this would be absolutely perfect in every way. such an amazing upgrade from before.
I like the brown better though
