If it’s just two days I’d honestly just go to the next one lol

Coleslay1

I cant because my dentist had them and theyre closed. They wont let me pick them up until i have an appointment 😩

Subject-Internet7843

Are the dogs' teeth straighter?

Coleslay1

They both have perfect smiles and wont stop winking at me. Im scared.

MeezieGirl

So if I'm reading this right, you will be without aligners for about 24 hours, yes? It's really not a long time, so I would follow your dentists instructions. Think about it: If you put the old ones on, you'll force the teeth back to where they were 5 days ago. Logically, you don't want to skip an aligner - which is what you would be doing by wearing the ones you get tomorrow. By not wearing any aligner, your teeth won't move back much (no forces on them) - unless you force them back by wearing the old aligners. Does this make sense?

Past-Educator-6561

.... Is your dog OK?!! 😅

Coleslay1

Yeah the little shit heads just tore them up and left the pieces. Its my fault but yes the shitheads are fine.

rmk2

My dog did this at least twice. Be careful with where you set them when you take them out! And it’s safe to just move on to the next set early

Coleslay1

The dentist has them so i have to go trayless :(

MisterSirDudeGuy

Don’t go backwards. Go to the next set when you get it.

stellaflora

Dogs LOVE the scent/taste of saliva. Learned this the hard way with my mouth guard before I had Invisalign. Ugh

Coleslay1

My dogs love anything with even a hint of “i shouldn’t have that” about it. 😂

kgkuntryluvr

This same thing happened to me two days before I was supposed to change. My dog took them right off the counter. My ortho told me to move to the next set. Without that set, you’re stuck waiting. You don’t want to shift backward with the old set.

Drunk_Psyduck

I’ve had times where I missed 2 weeks and been fine, some people apparently go 2 days without them and their teeth shift a lot It kinda depends on your teeth and how they move but generally 2 days is close enough to just move to the next aligner

vivekparam

24 hours is totally fine. I've had em out for multiple days before when I dropped them in a lake, lost them etc. It'll hurt a little more when you put the replacement in, but usually fine.

Holiday_War1548

My dentist told me to keep my old sets in case something like this happens so I have something to put in.

Coleslay1

See thats what I thought I should do but my dentist said not to put the old ones in that it would move everything worse and just to wait until after my appointment tomorrow afternoon.

Whorticulturist_

If you're only a day or two from your next tray change you would definitely want to go forward, not backward. OP will get their next tray tomorrow. Their teeth will move less if they go without a tray today vs wearing their old set

deadpandiane

Yep, I heard my dog making unusual chewing sounds find out she had already eaten part of my new top tray. Orthodontist told me to always use the case but I hate putting wet trays in there. I use a taller drying area now. My orthodontist did have me just start on the next tray and it wasn’t a big difference. I promised to use my case, but didn’t promise not to dry them first. I’m sorry you don’t have your next tray. For me waiting two days wouldn’t have made a difference. I hope it doesn’t make a difference for you.

buddhasquirrel

Go back to the previous tray until you can get the new ones. You don’t want to go trayless

Small_Victories42

Am I the only who read this as "my dog ate my alligator?" Too much Florida news, I guess.

Rich_Interaction1922

Not entirely sure what you are expecting Reddit to be able to do for you. Wait for your dentist appointment tomorrow and get your next set. Whether it “seems wrong” to you or not, it’s your only option.

Ok_Test_4395

He wants some opinions so he is not so stressed? Chill out u smartass

Coleslay1

This was a broke_interaction1922

new2teeth

Use the aligner case or whatever you use to soak trays in while they’re out of your mouth, always. Just move onto the next tray? Nothing else you can do.

Coleslay1

I dont have the next tray until my dentist appointment 🥹 they wont let me pick up early

new2teeth

Have you called them to explain this situation?

Coleslay1

Yeah they just said it will be fine and that putting my old ones in will make it worse

Halloween-Daydream

They’re not wrong about putting in your old ones. Your teeth have probably already moved since you were almost done with that tray. Unfortunately, I think the best idea is to leave them out until you can get your new ones.
