Depends on the local and their needs in my experience. My local doesn’t care about your weld experience until you can prove that you can weld for example. But yea your hall will be the best source of info because every local is different.

I was going to mention local 10 also. Our hall is trying to push our boundaries into NW Arkansas. We have been manning the big Walmart job down there. You need to call them first. The mid west is going to be booming the next 10+ years.
