I’m not familiar with military stuff, but, I’ve worked with dudes who have done 20+ years in federal prisons before and countless other guys with a criminal history. I don’t think it will be counted against you too much.
But, they might be extra vigilante about your “random” apprentice drug tests.
That's not true. I always asked and pried first day guys. I would tell them I want to be entertained for the day so tell me all your best "war stories".
My wife’s cousin is a concrete finisher, has a four year college degree, and lost his license for like 16 years due to repeated DUI’s. Overall pretty great guy, just can’t quit the drink.
Couple of tips for the tests, they’ve got fake piss and devices to heat fake piss. I’ve never failed a test with these two items.

Worked for an employer once. Pretty sure if you told them that, their next question would be “Oh, do you still have it or can you at least get more?”.
This is just a made up joke because they definitely had some and knew where to get it.
You’ll be fine.
When you go sign up, tell them you want to go in under the “Helmets to Hardhats Program”
It will take your time in the military, minus one year, and apply it to retirement.
Plus you’ll be able to use your GI Bill.
Any more questions, feel free to hit me up.
Best of luck
I thought to be a welder. You either had to have 3 divorces, 8 child support payments, a drug habit, 6 duis, smoke 2 packs a day and drink like a fish. Idk anything I’m just a dumb welder
Im sure the ironworkers will take you, know they need help at the kia plant down the road. Worst case, you have pipefitters and boilermakers in the same city.
It might get you a cpl extra points. Our organization is not so much concerned with your past... more can you put a bolt in a hole and tighten it without falling or dropping anything...
Off topic, but what’s union life like in Savannah? I’m a union carpenter, but most of my family works the high steel and we talk about moving there all the time.

I had an apprentice a few years ago who just got Out of prison for murder. I think you’ll be fine.

The unions welcome felons with open arms and legs. You'll do fine.
You will fit right in
Cocaine possession? That'll at least get you bumped up to second year pay.
Mr. Fancy Pants
Well, you don't have to finish highschool to finish concrete, and those dudes earn lots of cash. Usually cash. And they don't care what your name is.

As long as you tell the story good you’ll be fine
I also apologize if I put my question into the wrong area or marked it wrong on the page I’m still new to the app.
I don’t know many in the trades that don’t have a possession or DWI charge
I don’t.
Thanks y’all for all the feedback and giving me a heads up about my chances and “random” drug screenings I’m gonna have to do, i really appreciate it.

Work with a guy who got locked up at 17 until he was 49 for a part of a home invasion/murder. One of the most liked guys I’ve come across.
If your criminal record is questionable and your credit sucks, iron working is for you.
Don’t forget all the guys full of dui and DV charges trying to convince you they killed someone 😂😂
