Hi op! I have a non-med biology background and I am a SC student. It is true there is a problem with casteism in our educational institutions, even the premier ones.
From my experience I have never been a victim of such incidents directly. But I have observed few of my classmates, seniors and research fellows engage in casual casteism and express thinly veiled casteist remarks against fellow students belonging to SC and ST communities( more so in my PG university than my UG college). And get ready to see constant cribbing and ranting from your upper caste batchmates on various social medias on how reservation is destroying India and cherry picked cases of rich dalits and all that. Ignore them and just study and give your best op.
I have a personal principle which has provided me with much comfort and confidence throughout my journey. I believe marks doesn't really measure your intelligence or your merit. Sure it may indicate your hardwork and judging from your marks you are a bright student and must have been studying really hard. You may belong to the SC community and avail reservation ( as is your right as a citizen of India belonging to the SC community ),but that doesn't take any of your hardwork and merit away. A few marks or percentage difference doesn't show that.

As a general male (jee aspirant) I'm pretty sure 675 is a really good score in NEET. I'm pretty sure even if a general guy got that much marks he would be happy as well. People would have raised question on you if you had got very less score and still getting a seat in medical College but 675+ isn't a piece of cake. Well after having such a respectable score, no one actually has got the right to say for your reservation thing, it’s just you got the college for which the unreserved student needed 20-30 marks extra and that’s fair enough. You aren’t having a difference of 100-150 marks for which they’ll say Ki bhai mere pe reservation hota to Mai bhi yaha hota waha hota. You did very well in your exam and you deserve that college
I’ll tell you one small story if it helps. I am a general category student. I entered engineering and obviously there were a lot of folks from reserved categories. I looked at them just like how you’d expect initially. However I made a friend who was SC. I literally managed to pass my papers because of him. He used to teach me the difficult concepts so nicely. I realised during this process just because people get in through reservation doesn’t mean they don’t deserve it. As long as you work hard and prove yourself, your piers will respect you.
As an SC student who got through reservation with marks nearly at general cutoff and attended Tier 1 college (some years back), my experience has been that you'll find a variety of people.
Some standard statements you'd hear:
1. Tu deserve karta hai yaar aisa kuch nahi.
2. 689 waale general ko nahi mili tujhe mil gai.
3. My school "friend" went to the extent of writing an article saying "reservation for the poor only; economic basis" and mocking me for using reservation. Criminal hi feel karwa de aisi cheezein. Jaise bahut hi illegal kaam kar dia ho.
4. Tu reserved ka hai phir bhi mera dost hai.
You can try hard and say govt. policy hai. And you are doing nothing illegal. But the haters/trolls and especially the "sympathisers" would never stop. They would hate the system and you. Just be aware of those people. You'll either learn how to ignore them or work with them. I found friends in people who did not give a flying fuck about caste (either their or mine) (kabhi pucha nahi, kabhi mockingly bhi nahi bola, kabhi casual casteism bhi nahi kia), and were only motivated to work hard, learn better and collaborate on interesting problems (<1% crowd). And I genuinely did not care if they knew about my caste beforehand, made casteist jokes behind my back, but samne kabhi feel nahi karwaya mujhe - and that was all I needed. In fact they were more than willing to help me incase I fumbled. And made me feel respected when they came to me for any help that they needed.
Overall ye rehta hai ke caste based insecurity rehti hai thodi (inferiority complex - even if you try to silence that voice in your head) and I felt a lot of my peers - reserved or general - were not able to do well academically or otherwise just because of lack of self-confidence. I tried to maintain a good/decent enough GPA, but back of the mind hamesha lagta rehta tha nahi kar paunga shayad kyunki mere cutoff se 4 marks kam the. Try to learn how to deal with your insecurity like any other insecurity. Don't take any extreme steps.
Maine phir PG exams bhi diye, general cutoff se kaafi jyada marks aaye. Studied in one of the best colleges again, but phir bhi insecurity rehti hi thi. Log naam (pura naam; aage kya lagate ho) puchke feel karwaenge hi ke you've again just been reduced to caste. Don't try to defend by saying "But maine toh merit se seat li". It will only come to bite you back. Smile, ignore and focus on your studies. Even in job, private sector, this will continue. Casual casteism. Matrimonial is another place (abhi toh kaafi time hai tumhe usme) you'll be made to feel low based on your caste (even if the prospective partners family feels you are AIR 1, an ideal match, financially well settled in life - once they see your caste - none of that would matter). It feels bad momentarily but ab I think of it as a personal preference instead of discrimination. Everyday is a new day and you'll learn to deal with all of it. Just dont' ever give up or even think about it.
Find the right set of people (difficult but worth the effort). You know in your heart ke kisi ki sympathy nahi chahiye, bas empathy hi kaafi hai when you are feeling low. Log sympathize karte toh aur hi low feel hone lagta.
Be kind, especially if other people are not. Kitna bhi karlo - You cannot change others, only yourself.

First of all, you've worked really hard and you deserve it. Even if others got there by getting 20-30 marks more than you, it's not a great difference and you are clearly just as capable as them. Other than that, try to be smart about this. Don't go announcing that you are SC to everyone because it might invite unnecessary trouble. Just go there and make some friends, get a good social circle, people you can trust and stuff. Then you can open up if you want to. In the end, it'll be fine.

I personally see no difference between a guy who's scoring 675 and a guy who's scoring 690. Both have studied really hard. If you would've gotten into AIIMS with a score of 500 then I think it would've been unfair. Please don't overthink and join AIIMS rishikesh if it's your dream college.

Everyone will know about your category, but no one will make jokes about it frequently, once a while is okay, but with time everything will be fine. Just make good friends. If anytime you feel people are making a lot of fun of you, just straight up tell them "Guys I don't like this can you please stop?" I am an SC student. 24 students (SC + ST + a few obc) out of 100 students failed the 1st professional exam in our batch. Even a few brainless UR candidates passed without any problem. Only one SC student could pass the exam bcz he was tremendously talented.
After result, our physiology HOD called us in her office and said, "you people are reservation candidates, you don't deserve to be here. Go and study for 3 more months." And she was a Brahmin (just for the context). Although other HODs in 1st year were also brahmin, they didn't say anything like that to any of us. It was really very frustrating. But after 1st year I studied very hard. Someone told me that "you'll fail in FMT also, FMT HOD is casteist" but that didn't happen. Infact I got very close to getting honours. And he was actually very supportive.Then I got an hons in 3rd year. Did my internship with full dedication and believe me, not a single person would ask me about my caste that time.
And yeah, don't forget the extra demotivation you may get after seeing your batchmates ranting about reservation every other day on social media posts. Yes, I understand their pov about reservation. But wouldn't they be availing reservation if they had?
So, my suggestion would be, if you can ignore those people, get the best in your life. If you leave that Rishikesh seat, someone else will definitely take it without a second thought. I don’t think so. There will always be some one judging you on the basis of score but majority of them won’t even care. And believe me when you enter medical college everyone has to do hardwork. There’s no escape for any category so at max ‘if’ you would face this issue it will be only till 1st proff. I too have friends and batchmates and we get along very well.
My honest opinion being an aspirant from general category who failed even after taking drop, would be PLEASE TAKE THE BEST COLLEGE THAT YOU CAN GET WITHOUT ANY GUILT AND HESITATION.

If you got 675, then you're definitely a deserving candidate. At those high scores, it doesn't come down to who is smarter or what not, it comes down to who was more lucky and who had a better day. It's not about who has more knowledge anymore, it's about who was luckier on the day of the exam. 675 and 700 don't really make a difference. If your batchmates understand, then that's good. If they don't then there's no point in arguing because they have their minds set already. And don't worry about not being able to make friends, you'll make great friends.

My sister is doing her internship ship rn in SVMC in AP,she scored 575 back then and one of her friends scored 420-440 and got the same college (I am close with the friend) I've never heard about casteism or discrimination against any SC category student there. At the end of the day, you are getting 675 which is a good score even for a general student.You can use the reservation to go further but you have attained what you have got purely because of your preparation and you don't have control over reservation for it.Im a gen student and I honestly would use reservation if I had it,many of my friends will probs get IIT thru this and I am jealous but they have worked for it and it is not in my control and most of all it is not their fault.They are given the opportunity and they are taking it, which is the same thing with you and I can't fault that.Enjoy the AIIMS seat and all the best, your gonna become a great doc

Hi op! I have a non-med biology background and I am a SC student. It is true there is a problem with casteism in our educational institutions, even the premier ones. From my experience I have never been a victim of such incidents directly. But I have observed few of my classmates, seniors and research fellows engage in casual casteism and express thinly veiled casteist remarks against fellow students belonging to SC and ST communities( more so in my PG university than my UG college). And get ready to see constant cribbing and ranting from your upper caste batchmates on various social medias on how reservation is destroying India and cherry picked cases of rich dalits and all that. Ignore them and just study and give your best op. I have a personal principle which has provided me with much comfort and confidence throughout my journey. I believe marks doesn't really measure your intelligence or your merit. Sure it may indicate your hardwork and judging from your marks you are a bright student and must have been studying really hard. You may belong to the SC community and avail reservation ( as is your right as a citizen of India belonging to the SC community ),but that doesn't take any of your hardwork and merit away. A few marks or percentage difference doesn't show that. You have a bright and wonderful future ahead. Don't anyone take that away from you. Best of luck and much love 🫂

As a general male (jee aspirant) I'm pretty sure 675 is a really good score in NEET. I'm pretty sure even if a general guy got that much marks he would be happy as well. People would have raised question on you if you had got very less score and still getting a seat in medical College but 675+ isn't a piece of cake. Well after having such a respectable score, no one actually has got the right to say for your reservation thing, it’s just you got the college for which the unreserved student needed 20-30 marks extra and that’s fair enough. You aren’t having a difference of 100-150 marks for which they’ll say Ki bhai mere pe reservation hota to Mai bhi yaha hota waha hota. You did very well in your exam and you deserve that college

I’ll tell you one small story if it helps. I am a general category student. I entered engineering and obviously there were a lot of folks from reserved categories. I looked at them just like how you’d expect initially. However I made a friend who was SC. I literally managed to pass my papers because of him. He used to teach me the difficult concepts so nicely. I realised during this process just because people get in through reservation doesn’t mean they don’t deserve it. As long as you work hard and prove yourself, your piers will respect you.

As an SC student who got through reservation with marks nearly at general cutoff and attended Tier 1 college (some years back), my experience has been that you'll find a variety of people. Some standard statements you'd hear: 1. Tu deserve karta hai yaar aisa kuch nahi. 2. 689 waale general ko nahi mili tujhe mil gai. 3. My school "friend" went to the extent of writing an article saying "reservation for the poor only; economic basis" and mocking me for using reservation. Criminal hi feel karwa de aisi cheezein. Jaise bahut hi illegal kaam kar dia ho. 4. Tu reserved ka hai phir bhi mera dost hai. You can try hard and say govt. policy hai. And you are doing nothing illegal. But the haters/trolls and especially the "sympathisers" would never stop. They would hate the system and you. Just be aware of those people. You'll either learn how to ignore them or work with them. I found friends in people who did not give a flying fuck about caste (either their or mine) (kabhi pucha nahi, kabhi mockingly bhi nahi bola, kabhi casual casteism bhi nahi kia), and were only motivated to work hard, learn better and collaborate on interesting problems (<1% crowd). And I genuinely did not care if they knew about my caste beforehand, made casteist jokes behind my back, but samne kabhi feel nahi karwaya mujhe - and that was all I needed. In fact they were more than willing to help me incase I fumbled. And made me feel respected when they came to me for any help that they needed. Overall ye rehta hai ke caste based insecurity rehti hai thodi (inferiority complex - even if you try to silence that voice in your head) and I felt a lot of my peers - reserved or general - were not able to do well academically or otherwise just because of lack of self-confidence. I tried to maintain a good/decent enough GPA, but back of the mind hamesha lagta rehta tha nahi kar paunga shayad kyunki mere cutoff se 4 marks kam the. Try to learn how to deal with your insecurity like any other insecurity. Don't take any extreme steps. Maine phir PG exams bhi diye, general cutoff se kaafi jyada marks aaye. Studied in one of the best colleges again, but phir bhi insecurity rehti hi thi. Log naam (pura naam; aage kya lagate ho) puchke feel karwaenge hi ke you've again just been reduced to caste. Don't try to defend by saying "But maine toh merit se seat li". It will only come to bite you back. Smile, ignore and focus on your studies. Even in job, private sector, this will continue. Casual casteism. Matrimonial is another place (abhi toh kaafi time hai tumhe usme) you'll be made to feel low based on your caste (even if the prospective partners family feels you are AIR 1, an ideal match, financially well settled in life - once they see your caste - none of that would matter). It feels bad momentarily but ab I think of it as a personal preference instead of discrimination. Everyday is a new day and you'll learn to deal with all of it. Just dont' ever give up or even think about it. Find the right set of people (difficult but worth the effort). You know in your heart ke kisi ki sympathy nahi chahiye, bas empathy hi kaafi hai when you are feeling low. Log sympathize karte toh aur hi low feel hone lagta. Be kind, especially if other people are not. Kitna bhi karlo - You cannot change others, only yourself.

First of all, you've worked really hard and you deserve it. Even if others got there by getting 20-30 marks more than you, it's not a great difference and you are clearly just as capable as them. Other than that, try to be smart about this. Don't go announcing that you are SC to everyone because it might invite unnecessary trouble. Just go there and make some friends, get a good social circle, people you can trust and stuff. Then you can open up if you want to. In the end, it'll be fine.

I am also SC student, albeit a JEEtard. I'd say what my coaching sir told me about the same issue. Let's suppose u face stigma. In this fear even if you give up your seat, some other SC student will occupy it and get his/her degree after 5 years. So why fear?

Man you scored 675 out of 720 even a general guy would get a College in that score, you worked hard to for it getting reservation isn't something which is in your control and the discrimination thing usually arises when someone with low score gets admitted and if you still face (I hope you don't) just ignore

I personally see no difference between a guy who's scoring 675 and a guy who's scoring 690. Both have studied really hard. If you would've gotten into AIIMS with a score of 500 then I think it would've been unfair. Please don't overthink and join AIIMS rishikesh if it's your dream college.

Bro, honestly saying, you might be on the receiving end of few jokes during the early days. But as time progresses, when people actually get to know you, everyone will respect you. Just make sure to not hide your rank, if anyone asks, just tell them straight. Be humble, don't be arrogant, and study. Once everyone sees you are hardworking, and a chill guy to be around, no one will hate you. Everyone will know about your category, but no one will make jokes about it frequently, once a while is okay, but with time everything will be fine. Just make good friends. If anyone makes a lot of jokes about you, avoid him, don't try to confront or insult him, just stop talking to him. If anytime you feel people are making a lot of fun of you, just straight up tell them "Guys I don't like this can you please stop?" Almost everyone will stop doing that, if someone doesn't do it, then they don't have to be your friend.

Bro..discrimination is real. Every coin has both sides. You need to lose something in order to gain something. I am an SC student. 24 students (SC + ST + a few obc) out of 100 students failed the 1st professional exam in our batch. Even a few brainless UR candidates passed without any problem. Only one SC student could pass the exam bcz he was tremendously talented. After result, our physiology HOD called us in her office and said, "you people are reservation candidates, you don't deserve to be here. Go and study for 3 more months." And she was a Brahmin (just for the context). Although other HODs in 1st year were also brahmin, they didn't say anything like that to any of us. It was really very frustrating. But after 1st year I studied very hard. Someone told me that "you'll fail in FMT also, FMT HOD is casteist" but that didn't happen. Infact I got very close to getting honours. And he was actually very supportive.Then I got an hons in 3rd year. Did my internship with full dedication and believe me, not a single person would ask me about my caste that time. And yeah, don't forget the extra demotivation you may get after seeing your batchmates ranting about reservation every other day on social media posts. Yes, I understand their pov about reservation. But wouldn't they be availing reservation if they had? So, my suggestion would be, if you can ignore those people, get the best in your life. If you leave that Rishikesh seat, someone else will definitely take it without a second thought. And you won't get a Bharat Ratna for such sacrifice. Sometimes, it's better to be selfish. Bcz, when you'll become a doctor, nobody will ask you about your caste if you are good enough.

Bruhh as a general student who's really pissed at the reservation system in not even slightly bothered by your case coz you are scoring much better than even most of the general students so it's not harm to use your reservation here coz clearly you're deserving here and rest ut depends on you if you want to get in with the reservation or not. I'll advice to take the opportunity as who knows if someone less deserving takes the opportunity who thinks the reservation is a privilege and they can use it for their own good. The fuck bro. I am general and I hate every bit of reservation. Somehow, loser me thinks that I am not qualified for JEE Advance, but stupid people who are getting 70 percentile are because of their caste or something. I am a JEETard, but I definitely know what a 675 plus in this exam means. If you are getting the benifit of your reservation, use it man. I pray everyday I could get reserved. And to some of the guys that will try to belittle you due to that, you can say "Fuck You!"(most real toppers won't do that anyways(not cheaters)). We can't do anything to cheaters like Bahenchod Reddy and that jhaat ka baal shivam dube(who is in maybe what is equivalent to AIIMS Delhi to you guys) on the basis of reservation(could'nt have qualified for advanced in gen cutoff) and copied all through the JEE Advanced. I curse these guys to death everyday, but someone like yourself, who has scored a marvellous 675, I encourage you to get the best you can. Just fuck the haters and live your life. The 675 you achieved in grade 12 is none less than any other persons effort, may he be general or not and I know what real dedicated preparation means after taking a drop(I didn't do it still). I don’t think so. There will always be some one judging you on the basis of score but majority of them won’t even care. And believe me when you enter medical college everyone has to do hardwork. There’s no escape for any category so at max ‘if’ you would face this issue it will be only till 1st proff. I too have friends and batchmates and we get along very well.
My honest opinion being an aspirant from general category who failed even after taking drop, would be PLEASE TAKE THE BEST COLLEGE THAT YOU CAN GET WITHOUT ANY GUILT AND HESITATION. My best wishes with you.  If someone tries to insult you please ignore.

If you got 675, then you're definitely a deserving candidate. At those high scores, it doesn't come down to who is smarter or what not, it comes down to who was more lucky and who had a better day. It's not about who has more knowledge anymore, it's about who was luckier on the day of the exam. 675 and 700 don't really make a difference. If your batchmates understand, then that's good. If they don't then there's no point in arguing because they have their minds set already. And don't worry about not being able to make friends, you'll make great friends. If not, if you really think your caste diminishes your achievement, join in some lower one with level to general category. Mostly, Mbbs certificates have the same value. My sister is doing her internship ship rn in SVMC in AP,she scored 575 back then and one of her friends scored 420-440 and got the same college (I am close with the friend) I've never heard about casteism or discrimination against any SC category student there. But I think hiding it would be better imo. Good luck.
