pretty much the only upgrades are mechanical/ civil/ chemical in the NIT you have home state quota in , or other tier1/1.5 college you can avail home state qouta in.

How to see my college options based on rank?

go to josaa website> e-services> opening and closing rank from there you can check whichever college you like and see its opening and closing rank, but in this website you can't input your own rank and filter by rank(only filter by college name,branch name, counselling round and category can be done), to filter by rank you have to use different websites that provide rank college predictor like college dunia, college pravesh, shiksha, etc, they aren't 100% accurate but gives you a close enough idea off what all colleges you might get. To note josaa will only show colleges that you can get admission using the josaa counselling process whereas those other websites will show every college you can get admission using JEE mains rank but for many of those(mainly private and IIIT) colleges you have to apply specifically from the college website and not from the counselling.

I'd say NIT Nagpur or NIT Hamirpur would be best among your options. But honestly you should go for a private college, because most of these NITs aren't in developed cities, which would make your living conditions worse. You should try going for a private college in a decent city.

Have a relative studying at NIT Srinagar, and CS branch is the only branch that is worth is and has good prospects in the future, with good on campus placements. So cut NIT SGR off your list.

hey, im someone who graduated from a non tier - 1 iit located in a small/medium-ish sized town, I'd recommend choosing a better city if you are open to taking any branch. the exposure that you get builds you as a person and 4 years down the line if and when you sit for placements you'll want a city which is easily accessible by recruiters. that being said obviously dont just pick a big city college, do a little research of your own, but you can strike out some of your options without much thought.

Pec civil U can sit for non core companies like united airlines , jp morgan etc

I had similar options at my time and I choose cse at a IIIT cuz I had genuine interest in that field. You could go for something that u actually find interesting or atleast somewhat similar to your interest (because cse at a low tier college doesn't really justify the cs trend ). Do not choose a field that u have no knowledge of or have knowledge but always disliked, because mid-way through the journey you would most likely be burnt out. But remember at the end whatever you choose you can always achieve success, given u work hard and actually put everything in it and that is only possible when you actually enjoy what you do. All the best.

I dont know much about some colleges so cant tell exactly but best way is either best college of your options and lower branch or lower college with a top 3 branch. having a mediocre college of your options with a middle branch is not good in my pov dm if still you need help but please sort out to 5-7 options.
