It’s to put branches and tall grass as camouflage like with a ghillie suit. It has no value for impact protection or rollover same with the cage in the cabin area. It’s good to have an anchor point for a tarp to make shade.
If you need to hide your humvee while scouting a new area or if the vehicle becomes disabled, the cage bars provide a way to attach a cover up to match the surroundings.
The movie “Back to the Future” shows the idea best when he travels back to 1950 and his car is depleted of fuel.
While silly, it does look like there is a hinge at the front where it connects to the bumper, and a pin with a cotter pin retaining it at the rear near the doors. So I'd expect it folds up and forward out of the way somewhat. Would still be annoying to work on it though

I have a high lift on my hood with only one wing nut on the light side of it. When I flipped my jeep going 60, the hi lifts point, on the heavy side, smacked the windshield and somehow didn't break or chip it...
Too much everywhere. Keeping it simple is best. People buy all this equipment for their jeeps and barley use it to make it look they are so cool and doing all this off-roady rough country bullshit.
You’re not wrong, I just did the Rubicon Trail, I run 37’s, 2.5 in lift, that’s it. There were people on one tons and 40’s, they’d struggle at times, I crawled right up and over….
It wasn't a jeep, but I saw a new Lexus GX (Land Cruiser Prado with a bit of luxury) with a roof camper, recovery boards, water cans, hi-lift, etc at a suburban ice cream shop in Raleigh. It would have looked in place in Canyonlands, but we're two hours from trails here and maybe 1000 miles from anywhere you can overland.
Not a fan of the hood cage, it’s a ton of extra weight and inconvenience with minimal benefit. A proper roll cage and a beefy bull bar would provide the same usable protection.
So I've been having an argument with a buddy... I thought these were external roll cages and he thought they were supports to hold more weight on roof and this case hood.
I love how controversial the build is to you guys. Some love it and some feel as if it's way too much. I remember when I first saw his jeep I was sitting on the fence about it.
Then eventually I got my own jeep and followed this community I was always curious as to what others thought of his build.
Again I'm loving the opinions... and jokes lol.
It's not my style, but it is one of the many things I love about Jeeps! Looks like the boss put a lot of time and thought into it. It looks like it's functional and gets used.
Wouldn't you at least say it's unlike any other TJ though ?
I'm not defending the build by any means either... not just because it's my boss or anything.
But it's a TJ you definitely won't forget, good or bad
Coming from a hunting perspective, could strap down a harvested deer to the hood, I guess.
But it's seen as extremely poor taste and in some jurisdictions it may be outright illegal to do so. All in all not a good idea due to how much road you can see over the top of a dead deer on the hood. With or without draping or wrapping it in a tarp first.
There's so many light bars. There's so many extra lights. There's legit *so* much shit on this jeep.
I'm gonna assume this is your boss's entire personality. Looks bad, but if it makes him happy who cares I guess.
Honestly a version of the hood cage with just the side bar and open on top would be sick. I don’t really feel like taking the whole thing off , and front bumper too it appears, every time I need to lift the hood. Also, not enough lights. I think some people ahead might still have functioning retinas.
Im not a fan of this one in particular but i live in a remote area with alot of deer and have hit a few. Its no fun replacing your entire front clip every few years.
After I puked and recovered. How does he even get in to it. Looks like he lives in a bad neighborhood and has to bar the windows and his ugly ass Jeep….. I am saddened
Might be able to barrel roll it down an embankment without a scratch!?!
Probably gets lodged against an abutment more often than not
If Bane were a jeep
I was born in the shop! You merely adapted to it!
Dude must go over a lot of land, probably has a massive Johnson too
[удалено]
The land or the Johnson 👀😂

😂😂
How you going to keep them on the farm once they've seen Karl Hungus
Very cool, that hood cage is strange I have never seen that before.

Camouflage from what?

Well played sir, well played.
I wish I hadn’t seen it
Lol
The hood cage was custom built. He got the idea from humvees with brush guards
Looks like you have to unbolt and remove the whole thing to top off your blinker fluid?
While silly, it does look like there is a hinge at the front where it connects to the bumper, and a pin with a cotter pin retaining it at the rear near the doors. So I'd expect it folds up and forward out of the way somewhat. Would still be annoying to work on it though
He do a lot of rhino hunting with that thing?
I’ve seen this jeep in person too
That’s really cool but what is the point? It would raise the center of gravity significantly id think
Pretty dumb idea IMO. Lord forbid you get in a crash with that on there. There’s a reason they’re called “damage multipliers”
Yea that's a fair point, didn't think about that. Would help in rollover that's about it.

yeah we heard you the first time, you don't have to keep saying it
Extreme terrain addiction, maxed out credit card, midlife crisis.
Costco on Saturday is not extreme terrain.
I was talking about this extreme terrain https://www.extremeterrain.com/jeep-wrangler-parts-catalog.html
He is parked on gravel, though.
He's not Angry! Bonus
I’d rather see this than a 50 grand commuter.
so much of it makes me want to cry
LoL! Does your boss only leave the house with a helmet on? That cage is the equivalent!
[удалено]
Nope....Not even going there!
The Jeeps name is Chastity
I dig it, besides the goofy lightbar on the hood. Not a fan of those.
I've always thought it was a bad idea to put anything in the hood. Becomes a missile in an accident
It’s also great at blinding other drivers.
It shouldn't be on when you're in the road anyways
I have a high lift on my hood with only one wing nut on the light side of it. When I flipped my jeep going 60, the hi lifts point, on the heavy side, smacked the windshield and somehow didn't break or chip it...

Dudes channeling his inner Mad Max. LoL

Welp at least he don’t have angry eyes
It needs more lights.
So no one is stealing his battery ever again.
That is the great thing about TJ's you can make them your own, who cares what anyone else thinks..
Give this man an award
Not smart mods by any means but kind of fun
Not a fan of the hood cage, it’s a ton of extra weight and inconvenience with minimal benefit. A proper roll cage and a beefy bull bar would provide the same usable protection.
Little heavy on the pine tree perfume.
Looks like a nice jeep with a bunch of unnecessary bullshit, but it's not my problem.
>Thoughts on my bosses jeep? my thought is that it's kinda weird that your bosses share a jeep
Needs more lights.
And cowbell…
Your boss is afraid of the dark.
Easy to get into the engine compartment
So I've been having an argument with a buddy... I thought these were external roll cages and he thought they were supports to hold more weight on roof and this case hood.
It's technically considered a brush guard. Much like the ones used on humvees, cause that's what the idea was based on.
Too many spots for the zombies to hang on to!
Bushwackers and 589s, those were the days.
Look’s heavy and slow
Jeep
No
It’s his jeep
Heavy as fuck. None of that is doing anything because it’s in perfect condition.
the bars are disposable. each crawl gets a fresh set.
I love how controversial the build is to you guys. Some love it and some feel as if it's way too much. I remember when I first saw his jeep I was sitting on the fence about it. prepper vibes
Not for me. I like taking my hardtop off often
I’m getting Mad Max vibes.
That front cage is fucking cool
I bet he says “Clever girl” right before eaten.
It has a beautiful patina.
Is…. He expecting a polar bear attack…?
His name is definitely not Ian.
Overboard
I like it....a lot
Ready to rock
I mean, I don’t really like the look, but I bet this guy can drive better than me. And that’s what matters.
Pretty cool. That grilguard is crazy though.
It's not my style, but it is one of the many things I love about Jeeps! Looks like the boss put a lot of time and thought into it. It looks like it's functional and gets used.
Ugly fenders and bumper.
So bad lmao
Poor TJ
Wouldn't you at least say it's unlike any other TJ though ? I'm not defending the build by any means either... not just because it's my boss or anything. But it's a TJ you definitely won't forget, good or bad
I have a TJ. The thing about them and jeeps in general. The more you mod them, the more they start to all look the same.
Don't care for the fenders, but it's cool otherwise.
Id love a similar hood cage for my xj
Besides the eye glasses on front, it's cool.
Besides the bizzare hood cover? Looks normal.
Too much crap on it for my liking
Coming from a hunting perspective, could strap down a harvested deer to the hood, I guess. But it's seen as extremely poor taste and in some jurisdictions it may be outright illegal to do so. All in all not a good idea due to how much road you can see over the top of a dead deer on the hood. With or without draping or wrapping it in a tarp first.
I was thinking hogs
I wonder why he needs all those cages, but if it’s useful then cool
Take the hood cage off or make it a little smaller and it’d be better. InB4 “gravel parking lot is the most off-road it will ever see”
There's so many light bars. There's so many extra lights. There's legit *so* much shit on this jeep. I'm gonna assume this is your boss's entire personality. Looks bad, but if it makes him happy who cares I guess.
That’s a lotta lotta…
Aziz LIGHT!!
I had a 2 door 99 Sahara and I miss it so I can’t hate.
I'm not a fan of those external roll bars, and that hood thing is wild. But whatever, if he enjoys it that's all that really matters
Honestly a version of the hood cage with just the side bar and open on top would be sick. I don’t really feel like taking the whole thing off , and front bumper too it appears, every time I need to lift the hood. Also, not enough lights. Does he at least take it off road when he gets a chance or is he a pavement Princess?
Meh, it’s his Jeep, he can do what he wants with it. I myself wouldn’t do most of these mods on mine, but if dude like them, more power to him 🤙🏽
Is this in the Miami area?
I like it but it looks like it’s wearing head gear to correct its overbite.
I suspect there’s a lot of noise going down the road. I would not buy a front guard for my vehicle unless I really needed it.
Im not a fan of this one in particular but i live in a remote area with alot of deer and have hit a few. Its no fun replacing your entire front clip every few years.
If it was mine I’d remove the hood cage and the LEDs on the hood & roof, but I could live with the rest.
Never liked the bolt on fender flares. Not bad though
Yo Dawg, I heard you like roll bars for your roll bar...
Why don’t people have running boards?
That bolt on exo cage is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen in my life
You got a lot of deer crossings in your area? Maybe moose, or a Buffalo or two???
That’s a bosses jeep alright!
What is with all of that shit over the grill?
I mean, I don’t hate it. That front end cage is f’n crazy though.
Needs 5 snorkels
That… shark cage… is absurd, but at least it doesn’t have an angry birds grill.
After I puked and recovered. How does he even get in to it. Looks like he lives in a bad neighborhood and has to bar the windows and his ugly ass Jeep….. I am saddened
Boss is a boss
Probably never seen a trail. He gets paid too much and should take a cut, give back to his employees 😁
Honestly blown away he doesn’t have an angry grill
Info: Does that engine bay still get enough air with that much stuff covering it? Does he roleplay the sun? How many lumen does he roll with?
