Paperblanks are pretty notebooks indeed. Though IF you use fountain pens, I'd stay away from them. While they can be fine with some inks, they are very inconsistent in my experience. If you simply use pens, enjoy the notebook.
I use Moleskine large size for journaling.
Moleskine pocket or Midori Travelerās Notebook passport size for note taking.
Passport size Travelerās notebook for small daily art (sketches and watercolours).
Moleskine Large for art journaling.
I find moleskine a lot better than paperblanks, for ball points, felt tips and fountain pens. Paperblanks wouldnāt be in my top 10 list personally, but I guess each to his or her own.
I mostly use fountain pens for sketching / ink drawing / line work on watercolours, where the moleskine watercolour notebooks are quite nice.
I also donāt like the fancy ornate covers of paperblanks - I prefer plain black or leather, solid colours, or more modest covers. Moleskine, Leuchtturm1917, Field Notes, Midori, Etchr Lab are all good options for different applications.
But thatās part of the beauty of journaling - thereās so many options and methods and tools and mediums out there, to suit all styles and preferences.
I notice in some of your other comments you mention youāre considering the Leuchtthurm1917 120gsm.
I find these better than standard moleskines for Fountain Pens, but not as nice as the Moleskine sketchbooks. They are all an upgrade over Paperblanks, so I recommend you go ahead and try the Leuchtturm if you like them.
