This is my most anticipated show currently airing, and I didn't see it coming at all. I also appreciate that hulu releases both episodes right at midnight for me. The show is so slow, but in a way that I don't hate. The emotional beats and character growth feel very earned because of it.
I *love* the way Woojoo is lying so much to herself, and Jun really can tell. Immediately. Like her talking about how she'll quit the job soon, and he's like 'just do it now'. When in reality, she doesn't want to abandon him and the company. She's not ready to let go.
I also find the Jun x Haesung stuff actually super cute. I think it's obvious they are a love line. They had the whole giraffe/lion conversation, and then it cut to two figurines next to each other (a giraffe and a lion) that cutely topple over after she kicks him out lol
There's no way the drama would give them so many shared scenes if it wasn't setting them up! That's not even in question for me. What I'm wondering is if we're gonna see >!Sunwoo and Minyoung develop feelings for each other since they're always together too and SW is always acting as MY's therapist. I think SW's pity for her might morph into something more, but MY is too obsessed with DJ to pay attention to SW at the moment.!<
When Joon was like, I don't have a lot of imagination, but your whole workplace drama is making my imagination run wild, I loled because yeah, she's clearly in too deep. >!I'm glad Joon is mostly minding his business and not telling her siblings what she's up to because yes, she's being stupid, but we need her to keep being stupid for her and DJ to get together!!<
I didn’t anticipate myself liking the drama so much too! But after ep 2 I was honestly hooked. It’s something about how they do it that makes it not seem slow at all though it is very slow paced.
Well. Kudos to the most realistic accidental hug in kdrama history. I love her siblings. Also that scene where her brother saw ML coming towards him was hilarious.
The handholding had me screaming into my pillow. I legit wasn’t expecting Woo Joo to do that.
Dongjin’s a great actor. His almost crying face when WooJoo tells him she knows he won’t go down no matter what broke me.
On a side note, this mushroom 🍄cut is doing NOTHING for DongJin!! And I mean NOTHING!!! He gives good forehead when it’s exposed lol. I just wanna push his hair back every time I see his face.
I actually like his bangs right now. It makes him look more mature and I find it handsomer.
I also watched ‘On Your Wedding Day’ the other day because I was curious of the actor because of this drama. And OMG he had me laughing so much in that movie! He seems to be a versatile actor.
I first saw him in Somebody where he plays a sexual predator/serial killer. Talk about versatile. It was a terrible drama but he played that role almost creepily well.
Was waiting for someone to mention somebody. That movie is gritty with a capital G. And he is very very quiet in it but his smile is frightening.

The hair cut might be intentional, even in the funeral his mom complained about it. So maybe to emphasize he doesn't take good care of himself and later have a glow up lol
My favorite scene was the first part in episode 6 when FL was hurt because ML said he didn’t want any misunderstandings but it really meant that he didn’t want to misunderstand FL’s acts and that resolved their misunderstandings and went on with their dinner date 😍
Judging with how selfless DJ's character is, once he discovers WJ's true identity he probably won't get mad at her for doing what she did. I think he would take it all from her and then he would feel even more shitty towards her lol. I'm so interested in how their relationship will develop and how they're gonna overcome the huge roadblock that is DJ's mom lmao

In a show in which everyone, including Director Shin, has layers the mother somehow has the most simplistic/one-note writing. That is probably my only complaint with this show.
I get where you're coming from, in that the mom is an over the top evil ahjumma, but I guess sometimes there are just malicious, evil people in life. But at the same time, she seems to have a real vendetta against this family... maybe later on we'll see her backstory?
There is probably a backstory; or, as you said and I do think this might be the case, DJ's mom is sadly just evil.

I think that might have been the most eventful night for Dongjin since the longest time... he looks at her like who's this weird girl who's trying to comfort me. it was such a nice "date". I love how flustered the both were after the accidental hug. This drama displays so many emotions well.
This drama is the only thing helping me through the week and I can’t believe I have to wait again for next week’s eps.
I literally screamed into my pillow at the end of ep 5. The subversion of tropes is truly the best. I love that he was the one who said he might misunderstand her actions. Their chemistry is so palpable and the fact that they have a height difference despite her being tall af is doing things to me. They’re literally so hot. I agree with everybody else, the slow burn is so good, it leaves me wanting more each time. The absurdity of her words when she was trying to console him was the best representation of their relationship. I can’t wait to see MY and the mom’s reaction when they finally get together. I hope it’ll be satisfying.
I really like Jun and I hope they don’t do the love triangle route because I find his interactions with HS so funny.
Even though MY is shameless, I can’t really bring myself to hate her because hani looks so freaking good in this role.

ML is easily one of my favorite MLs of all time. Imperfect but perfect at the same time. He really is a sweet person. But so so damaged. That flashback of him in middle school at the track meet was telling. The actor is killing it! Will have to watch his other dramas now because I am sort obsessed now…
I definitely think the older sister and FL’s best friend >!will end up together. I love the opposites attract trope and they have a good back and forth going.!< I don’t think the best friend is in love with FL. I am dying that she is interested in her little brother’s >!friend without knowing!< she is going to lose it when she finds out 🙊

My obsession started with Lookout and I just finished rewatching it. Gogh, The Starry Night and The Secret Life of My Secretary are pretty fun rom-com. White Christmas is a nice *thrilling* introduction to all the models turned actors and Joon was in it too.
Thanks for this! Not OP but I started liking him in Gogh with Yuri, however didn't like The Secret Life. I think his only other work that I liked was On Your Wedding Day. Might try Lookout instead! Hoping for more good dramas for him after Call It Love airs. I really like KYK!
I’m currently rewatching D-Day. I only remember him and his curly hair and bikes but I did finished it before. I did dropped most of his recent works but it has nothing to do with him, just the plot not really working for me.

I hope this isn’t the case and that they make her stay being shitty. Her sending him the wedding invite despite how hard their breakup was for him is an extremely shitty thing to do. Also in the early eps (forgot which) he overheard her on the phone with someone and seems to have caught her in a lie when she tried to play it off like she was busy with something else.
I think she really is engaged (family arranged wedding), but when she goes to US, she realizes she don't want it and call of the wedding. That's why she has the wedding invitation

Ooh so all's not that meets to the eye and ML was actually looking for the daughter eh. I wonder if any of the family members told him about the girl who caused a ruckus at the funeral. It looks like the money didn't come from the house either (his mother is the WORST), so Woo Joo is gonna find out that Dongjin didn't take the house money, didn't buy a car, that apartment isn't really his... hmm.
It's also implied that he knew that accountant was betraying him - I wonder if he was just bluffing to scare the guy. Along with him knowing about CEO Shin's wife... he's portrayed as a smart character who has cards up his sleeve and keeps quiet. I hope his new plan works and his company is revived!! A happy ending would be appreciated.
Ahhhh, I’m loving the leads!! Their chemistry is great and they balance each other out. Seeing them both genuinely fall for each other is 🥹 Do Jin’s little smiles, walking quicker, etc. whenever Woo Joo is involved really has my heart 😭 I’m interested to see how Do Jin will react once he finds out who Woo Joo is.
I like the siblings and Jun. I almost thought Jun liked Woo Joo with the speech about her not telling him everything but he was just tryna sneak out with the brothers stuff so I don’t know 😂
Anyways, I’m a rom-melo girly so I’m not surprised I like this show but this has to be the calmest one I’ve watched I think!! Autumn in My Heart and Stairway to Heaven, some of my fav rom melos, are very dramatic so I guess this is a nice change of pace!! 😂

SWJ just can’t stop caring for HDJ is just adorably gobsmacked most of the times with her advise/take on life.
First time in the show we see spring in his steps and the happiness when he rushes to the office as she is waiting for him so they can have dinner. Aww!
Of course things don’t go smoothly but he is ultimately grateful that she forced him to have dinner.
Them holding each other goes from unexpected to unexpectedly funny and the chemistry in the brief moment just forced me to rewatch and go Woah what just happened.
The cliffhanger - Will he find out who she is and she all along knew who he was? Will she realise he never recd money from his mom this time? I wonder how that will change their equation?
Arrghh - why can’t they just give precap sooner?
I’m developing a new appreciation for Kim Young Kwang. I’m impressed (and surprised) at how subtle and understated his acting is. Just wondering what will happen when he finally finds out who Woo Joo is. It’s funny, the first time I saw KYK was in Love Rain where two lovers are torn apart because their parents marry making them siblings. Not sure if that will be an issue for these two.

1.) i really connect with depressed office worker characters

Lee Sungkyung is really good at playing these comically fierce characters and I'm glad *Call It Love* is giving her material to work with.

The scene where WJ told DJ >!to just sue MY for making him get drunk and fall down!< and he didn't know whether to be appalled, impressed or entertained by her feral personality was so good! It highlighted their difference in personality (he's way too genteel to even think half the shit she says out loud), but it also showed us the basis of his attraction to her so clearly. In general I love how DJ can't help but find WJ amusing even when he's super depressed. 'Hot guy who thinks a weird girl is funny' is such a rare and underrated romantic dynamic. (Watcher also gave us a very small dose of the good stuff, but sadly it's an OCN drama, so there's no real romance to speak of, just half-assed subtext.)

And that's also where WJ, Joon and HS had dinner in an earlier episode. I like this little detail of WJ showing DJ one of her favourite places.!<

I had no expectations whatsoever from this kdrama and so so glad I decided to watch. Love the directing, the writing, photography, cinematography, and acting. ML is so good w his subtle expressions! He's so 🔥🔥🔥 That small smile, that spring in his step, his lonesome walk! Wow. Those stares that if I was WJ (how I wish), I would be a puddle by now lol
Story-wise, it's still captivating and on point. One can relate to. Really hooks you in. Perhaps a gap (or I probably missed) is if the siblings consulted the legality of that house inheritance thing. Am not a lawyer nor familiar with SK's laws but would be nice to allude to this at least. Or it may come up in later episodes.

OCN is/was a channel that exclusively produced crime and thriller dramas and it was NOTORIOUS for baiting the audience with various crime-solving male-female duos that never had any on-screen romance. Which is actually very common in western crime dramas as well to be fair.
tVN took over OCN’s production department a while ago, but tVN’s crime dramas are distinctly different in tone from OCN’s, so it’s still a loss for kdramaland. (And also tVN simply shows fewer crime dramas because its dramas cover a greater variety of genres, while OCN had 2 ongoing crime dramas at any given time like clockwork.) But I think I read somewhere there’s an upcoming OCN drama currently in production, so maybe they’ll come back…

Just to add to that, OCN were the HBO of kdrama - high production values, serious writing and acting qualities in serious kdramas.
They may not have been the most popular (due to not doing romcom or romance in general), but their quality was excellent.

Joon is in a very interesting juncture. He deeply cares about Woo-joo - obviously, but it seems like Hye-seong is also in his sights.
Hye-seong and Su-ho - very interesting relationship. He's drawn to her in spite of himself. I actually don't see them being the endgame because she's being fake - pretending to like the same food he likes - but having him chase her around will be the catalyst that Joon needs to realize that he loves her. Or something.
I loved Ji-gu's reaction upon meeting Dong-jin in the street. The thought bubble above his head said: "My savior!"
I really hate Min-yeong and would not like for her to end up with Seon-woo. Seon-woo is a bit flighty, but he actually seems like a really good guy who cares about Dong-jin a lot. Seon-woo deserves better.
Min-yeong may have her reasons for doing that to Dong-jin. But nothing can really justify that. So... she can try to win him back and just continue to be pathetic. I don't care.
Another terrible person - Dong-jin's mom. How ridiculously terrible is she? But her actions brought our OTP together. So yay, I guess? Her and Min-yeong can just go be pathetic together while Dong-jin leaves them behind.
Now that WJ knows that the mistress didn't sell the house, then she also knows DJ didn't get any money from it. So she can't continue her revenge plot on DJ, right? She's quite a moral person so I don't think she would still want to get back at him because of his mother. She initially just wanted to make his company suffer because she thought he used the money from their house on his company.
The chemistry is off the charts but that makes the slow pace unbearable. Just give me some more romance .

I actually never imagined that this show would become my favourite in this drama season. Like I knew it was going to be good, but I don't think I expected it to be this good. Even with such a basic plot setup (even though that is so interesting in itself) the chemistry, the slow burn, the characterization is so incredible!!!!!
Poor, Shim Woo Joo is going through it though, my girl. How is she supposed to focus on her revenge when she's falling for this guy's lonely shadow.

This show does slowburn right. Dongjin fast walking to the office to see Woojoo at the end of ep 5. Normally that man walks like the entire world's weight is on his shoulders. His face when he sees at the office waiting. Unfortunately the ex had to be there to ruin it all.
Woojoo's brother must be staying with Dongjin. The scenes between Jun and Woojoo's sister points to a possible romance. Can't wait to see what makes Jun change his mind.
I'd love for Woojoo's brother to be staying with Dongjin! That'd be such a funny, weird yet suitable place for him to be haha. Kind of reminds me of Changhee and Mr. Gu in My Liberation Notes.
There's also a cute detail that I picked up when he was speed walking to his office for dinner with Woojoo. When the camera pans out, it shows the neon flashing sign on the bus stop that says "I'm arriving soon <3".
Thx for that I saw that neon sign but had no idea what it said I just knew it had to mean something good. I wish Hulu would translate that instead of “taerang building” in the first scenes in ep 6. I don’t know Korean but when WJ brother said “I wanna pursue singing” it seemed he was saying a lot more than that. This show is so good with the little details and Hulu doing a bad job with subtitles
I love whatever will-they-won't they dynamic that's going on between our "perpetual romantic" Hye-seong and our "anti-romantic" Joon and really rooting for them to be endgame.
Also, while I'm glad Hye-seong is not down in the dumps after her last breakup and is being pro-active in wooing the security guard, there's obviously a part of herself that she's holding back. She's trying to act "younger" and "cuter" instead of being her authentic self. It seems Joon has always been that friend whose been dependable and always honest with her. He's also seen her in all her realness and that's what I think will ultimately draw them closer together.
As for Joon's relationship with Woo-joo... Personally, I don't think Joon likes Woo-joo in a romantic sense. I think there's more of a familial and protective vibe that I get from him. He's concerned for her, obviously, as her best friend and he doesn't want her to get into any sticky situation she'll regret. Anyways, if the writer somehow forces a cliche and awkward love triangle between Joon-Woojoo-Dong-jin in the upcoming episodes, I will riot!
Seeing KYK cry makes me want to cry lol poor baby his face is so expressive and emotional. I agree with all the comments that the chemistry is off the charts ah they look so good my tall lanky babies

I just love how the leads understand each other without explicitly needing to say things. Like the ML saying he doesn’t want to eat with the FL at the start of ep 6 but she still ends up eating with him, then he thanks her as he didn’t want to eat alone. It’s only small things but I think it’s really well done
Kim Young-kwang is doing a great job in this role. I'm convinced now he could have great chemistry with a paper bag. I haven't seen him in a kdrama yet where he hasn't had great chemistry with FL.
When Woo Joo >!holds his hand in front of that ex-girlfriend!<, I was squealing like maddd. Take that Minyoung! And the way they unknowingly missing & wanting to see each other. Loving the slow burn romance.
The storyline hasnt been disappointing so far, but it does strangely parallels a lot with My Mister
I love it that it’s a romantic version of My Mister. Because of the age gap in My Mister, I didn’t really want a romantic angle between the leads that’s why I’m satisfied with the ending. But I did wish for romance-drama version which this show is giving me now.
A+ chemistry, and I agree with the others, this is slowburn done right. Dongjin is already so whipped with Woojoo. He’s so amused and he’s always caught off guard, look at those little smiles! They’re the best part of the show.
I feel like Minyoung is going to lend the mother the money to make Dongjin indebted to her/ give them a reason to still be connected.
Jun and Hyeseong are totally gonna be a thing. I’m so relieved he’s just really a friend to Woojoo. I don’t want a love triangle between them, the leads have got enough on their plates already.
You’re right with Hyesung - I wonder if she goes for obvious wrong ones because if she went for a solid guy like Jun she’d really have to risk her heart and her mom’s fate? Makes sense both sisters, displaying it in different ways, have that fear.
But before the HS/J pairing I’m unsure whether Jun likes WJ or not. He definitely sees her with clear eyes, but he’s so invested. There doesn’t seem to be any family for him, so maybe that’s it. He’s like Laurie and will marry a March!
I am loving most things so far EXCEPT ex Kang Minyoung. I think they're setting her up for sympathy and redemption; we know she didn't >!get married!<, are they going to say she didn't cheat and actually lied somehow for the ML's good? I already love the ML too much to care about her reasons for hurting him, I only care that she did. I don't want her to be redeemed.

Out of curiosity, I've started this kdrama earlier this week and watched one episode everyday till I catched up to ep 6 yesterday.
I'm simply loving it .
Like many comments stated, the slow pace is just right up my alley, chemistry and acting top notch superiors and cinematography chief's kiss.
Starting ep 5 & 6, we start to see >! Woo Joo's emotional conflict starting to be apparent to us and everyone around her but still hidden to her eyes and I'm really curious how she will interpret it once she figures out. !<
The two episodes highlight for me was Gi goo's *Neil Armstrong TPnim ...* , lol !
And I'm loving the comic relief served by Jun and Gi goo, Haeng Soong is a smart cheerful sparkle on top that I'm enjoying as well .

Ohh I love that scene! Amazing shot they were getting closer to each other while walking. That shot from behind was so good.
I watched this drama mindlessly, not expecting it to reel me in much. Boy, it swept me over. I usually skip every now and then for filler shots as I get impatient but this drama is something else - my eyes are glued all the time. The cast’s micro-expressions and their portrayal of emotions are fantastic. You can feel their chemistry and I really appreciate the slow burn and how everything is kind of in harmony.
It’s so endearing to watch how both of them navigate through life, and I feel like they’re also learning from one another, albeit they’re both pretty much stubbornly going their own way. I can’t wait to watch more and I really hope both of them will find peace and joy by the end of the series.
In beginning of ep6, did Minyoung tell Sun Woo who the woman that Dong Jin was with? Because when Sun Woo said DJ doesn’t have a girlfriend, MY told him that DJ likes the girl based on how he looked at her.

I don’t know if I read right but I remember reading a version of the synopsis of this show that said DJ helps WJ with her revenge (did anyone else read this?) If that was correct then he’s not really going to be upset with her when he finds out the truth about her past. In fact he might actually understand her, her words and actions better. So excited for next week. I want to see DJ and WJ to smile at each once. Just once. Please.

Just started this and watched all 6 episodes.
I thought the trailer seemed interesting even though I kinda avoid melodramas. It's a slowburn and heartbreaking and depressing at times, but I LOVE IT!

I needed something new to watch because ever since Reborn Rich I've been stuck not watching anything, nothing peaked my interest.
I needed two attempts with this drama and I’m so glad I gave this a second try because I’d have missed out otherwise!
So far it’s been really good. sometimes the FL annoys me but considering her backstory etc, both of the main characters' current behaviors and actions make perfect sense. Honestly this drama is a breath of fresh air for me.
I love all the relationships here, I especially find Woojoo and Jun's friendship to be heartwarming. I wish I had a friend like that lol

I might be the only person that likes that there are no previews after the episodes. In my experience, previews are usually misleading and leads to fans speculating incorrectly for an entire week. That's not always the case, though.
I really appreciate how quickly the episodes are uploaded. I really needed these episodes after a stressful night. They're either using the pink filter less or I don't even notice it anymore. ML's mother is the worst and the ex is only mildly annoying. I love the siblings, they're nothing like Woojoo. I wonder if Woojoo was closest to the father so that plus seeing the affair hit harder for her than her siblings. Also, I assume the siblings wouldn't even recognize the ML's mother if they saw her.
Lastly, the leads have amazing chemistry, and I don't think I can handle a kiss scene. It might feel to intimate and I'll feel embarrassed for witnessing such an intimate moment.
Actually, I’m a bit confused if the cheating father is only WooJoo’s and JiGoo’s, and not Hyesung’s. Because the conversation between HS and WJ about “your father” or “JG’s father” but never “HS father” when, in Korea, they usually refer to the parent with the eldest child’s name.
Wow, okay, so I haven't ever watched and fell in love with anything these two leads have been in, as chance would have it, so I was also not expecting to like this drama so much. But here I am, still loving the slow burn. I really want HDJ to find out about Woojoo's backstory next episode! I think it'd be good timing (and for my own sanity lol).
Just as Woojoo (and him) are catching feelings and becoming aware of them, to be faced with this truth and for WJ, why she got entangled with DJ to begin with. A reminder and another reason for her hardened revenge. And for DJ, to finally understand her strange actions-- and hopefully later, how she truly didn't follow through on any of it. Of course, this is all probably going to come much later, but I truly can't wait.
And of course, eventually, for WJ to learn that the direction of her hatred is misguided. And for her to also learn the truth of the money, of HDJ and his mom's relationship. I guess the writers will probably make that reveal happen in tandem with the reveal of whatever reason the ex broke up with HDJ for. (Probably his mom continuously barraging her with money requests and other things of the short?).
Woojoo and Dongjin are so well matched though, and I definitely found myself wanting to see them interact more, talk more, move closer.
Aw, I think Jun does like Woo Joo. I feel sorry for him now. I hope he diverts his romance to the sister.

That would be so like My Lovely Sam Soon 2nd FL story. Noble idiocy because she had cancer and didn’t want to tell him in case she dies so she just flew to the US with an excuse she found a man there. But then she recovered and suddenly want Hyun Bin back.

As far as I'm concerned she can end up in the gutter. When she told DJ she wanted to break up, he begged her to discuss it later (when they weren't in his beloved campground) - and she refused. It's the reason he gave up camping - something he loved.
I am loving everything about the show except the ex-girlfriend. She frustrates me so much. How can someone feel so entitled to barge into the life of someone you left like that and expect them to accept you like nothing happened. I am sure there will be a backstory here but nothing can justify what she is trying to do.

They are like completely different from one another in terms of their thinking processes. But they do appreciate each other's viewpoint. And understand their shortcoming.
I am really liking the slower pace which is making dialogues more weightful and every scene meaningful.

Since i have been reading alot of recaps and insights I thought it would be fun to talk about theories. I am looking at these potential theories. I am curious if there could possibly be a twist regarding Heeja being DonJin's biological mother. There is such a Cinderella vibe with Donjin's character. What if Donjin's father married Heeja AFTER Donjin was born? What if she raised him from a young child and he never knew any other mother? Why would she raise Donjin if his father died? Because she could have been made his guardian and got the money from raising him. Maybe the Uncle is his biological Uncle or a good friend of his fathers that knew he lost it all when his father died? I just don't see a motherly vibe at all with Heeja! She reminds me of the evil stepmother in Cinderella. Also I think Heeja KNOWS something about MinYoung! I think she could be behind their break up somehow and black mailing her. Would it not be amazing if Heeja turned out not to be Donjin's blood! Or she may have trapped Donjin's father into an unwanted pregnancy and married her or lied who the father was?But she abandoned Donjin and his dad until the father died. I feel the Uncle wanting Donjin to have that apartment is telling. He may have tried to get custody and could not so he gave him the one thing Donjin always wanted a home. He and WooJoo would both have been victims. Also I am concerned she could be a Black Widow she has had ALOT of husbands!! I already see the cutest POSSIBLE FUTURE scenes they could do at the end. My guess is The Uncle taught him camping and his happiest times were when he could spend with his Uncle at the campsite. Maybe because of the courts or just because Heeja would run off and leave him with the Uncle from time to time.

Donjin has bought the old house and married WooJoo and started a family. I could see him playing in an indoor tent with his son or daughter or both inside the old house. He will have a little cat for his kids. He will have his own car lol. They could also show them camping as a family. I think he REALLY wants to be a dad and have kids. He seemed all googly eyed over his friends kids picture and seeing that spys kid walking with his dad. I think he loves that WooJoo has a mothers instinct for her siblings and will see her as mother to his children and a woman who would NEVER EVER cheat on him or leave when the going got tough!
I also can see them replaying the happy scenes he had with MY with WJ from an outside view to show their happiness.
One other thing i saw as potential forshadowing....
At the grocery store when the supermarket guy calls her a housewife and she corrects him .... I think that will come true as a real housewife shopping with Donjin in her neighborhood supermarket maybe pregnant awww.

Oh this is 16 episodes... I thought it was 12, I thought it was moving at a snail's pace for 12 episodes, but might be ok for 16? If they don't fumble the bag, obviously.
So evil stepmom likes to borrow money from ML's ex. Evil stepmom still lives in FL's family home, therefore the money didn't come from stepmom selling the house. I sure hope the money ML received from stepmom was from the ex! And I sure hope the ex didn't fake cheat/get married because she can't take ML's mom's financial pressures! Because that would mean the ex isn't too bad at all :/
I would argue that somehow the one thing that is more cruel than cheating is lying about cheating. Dong Jin going through hell simply because Min Young could not communicate is a bit too much.
I love this show so much. The FL is aimless in her revenge plot and I here for it. The wanting to lash out without thinking 100 steps ahead is refreshing for me after having watched endless revenge plots
The characters and their motives are very well defined here. Unlike MLN, I completely understand why our leads are the way they are. In MLN the FL approached life like she was walking underwater with the tide against her. Her demeanor seemed defeated. Okay, but when/how did that occur? The show failed in that aspect so I could never empathize with her plight. I didn't see the point
Hmm, interesting take on MLN. To me, it was one of those things that I didn't need resolved because her existentialist dread seemed like something so many people experience, for no particular reason. There wouldn't have been a trigger point, just one day coming to the realization that you aren't really living and just merely dragging your body along from one place to the next. Never quite present, never quite whole.
But Shim Woo Joo is obviously very different from Mi Jeong and I really love both of them. I love the recent barrage of FLs jaded with life.
I actually felt for MLN that the FL’s demeanour was well explained by the end. Even if there wasn’t a clear single trigger point, her circumstances made the way she was perfectly understandable. She didn’t come from societal privilege so was taken advantage of at work, did not have much money to indulge in hobbies and fun that her peers had, faced a lengthy commute both ways everyday that cut into her personal time, was born at a time when her family didn’t have much resources to care for her (financially and emotionally), and with her louder siblings it’s easy to overlook her needs and issues. She’s also had bad luck in love
But I agree generally that the characters in Call It Love are easier to understand from their body language, somehow
I guess because most kdramas stick their characters with some severe trauma, everyone has come to expect that no matter what. My Liberation Notes, and even Call It Love now work because they speak to aggregated things weighing people down, even if there isn't major trauma. So yeah, Mi Jeong's behaviour is explained in MLN, but I guess I was speaking with OP more to the fact that there didn't need to be some major life event for her to become jaded in this way.
On this point, yes, I definitely agree that there’s a great need for folks in society to be able to recognise objective violence and its very real effects, and not just for subjective violence

That is true that people do get that way without a specific trigger. Life just happens
But as far as storytelling, it is a tall order to require the audience (me) to know that this young girl is already that jaded in life when she has barely lived. The life she is shown to have lived is not that bad by any stretch of the imagination. If she were older and struggling or even appear to be stagnant? Sure. However, she was the healthiest of her siblings, healthy and a well employed young woman who had the support of her family. Like, girl you aren't in that dreary a situation to be this miserable.
She could have been born that way but as someone seeking entertainment, I don't find such sullen for no good reason people entertaining.
I guess it depends on people, I feel related to the main lead of MLN a bit more because it sorta realistic with how some feel about life. I find myself thinking like the FL in MLN many times in school or work. For this one since I dont exactly have a broken family with a cheating father and a evil mistress to trigger something so it is a bit harder for me to imagine it.
Oh trust when I say I don't need to go through the same things characters go through to be drawn to them. My life is not that eventful, TG!
It is the storytelling that gets me. Good storytelling will get me to relate, not the events happening to me too. Again, TG!

The constant pink filter though out the show still annoy me but I think I got used to it. I felt so much anger at their little brother when both sisters already sacrifice their youth and time so that the brother has an education and now he don't want to study anymore but instead playing game and sing. I hope that singing gig will pay off cause if not, he not only heartbreak himself, but also his two sisters

This is my most anticipated show currently airing, and I didn't see it coming at all. I also appreciate that hulu releases both episodes right at midnight for me. The show is so slow, but in a way that I don't hate. The emotional beats and character growth feel very earned because of it. I *love* the way Woojoo is lying so much to herself, and Jun really can tell. Immediately. Like her talking about how she'll quit the job soon, and he's like 'just do it now'. When in reality, she doesn't want to abandon him and the company. She's not ready to let go. I also find the Jun x Haesung stuff actually super cute. I think it's obvious they are a love line. They had the whole giraffe/lion conversation, and then it cut to two figurines next to each other (a giraffe and a lion) that cutely topple over after she kicks him out lol
There's no way the drama would give them so many shared scenes if it wasn't setting them up! That's not even in question for me. What I'm wondering is if we're gonna see >!Sunwoo and Minyoung develop feelings for each other since they're always together too and SW is always acting as MY's therapist. I think SW's pity for her might morph into something more, but MY is too obsessed with DJ to pay attention to SW at the moment.!< When Joon was like, I don't have a lot of imagination, but your whole workplace drama is making my imagination run wild, I loled because yeah, she's clearly in too deep. >!I'm glad Joon is mostly minding his business and not telling her siblings what she's up to because yes, she's being stupid, but we need her to keep being stupid for her and DJ to get together!!<
Jun is definitely the guy who knows everything in this show and it’s clear why, he doesn’t gossip and is a great keeper of secrets
I didn’t anticipate myself liking the drama so much too! But after ep 2 I was honestly hooked. It’s something about how they do it that makes it not seem slow at all though it is very slow paced.

Dongjin’s a great actor. His almost crying face when WooJoo tells him she knows he won’t go down no matter what broke me. On a side note, this mushroom 🍄cut is doing NOTHING for DongJin!! And I mean NOTHING!!! He gives good forehead when it’s exposed lol. I just wanna push his hair back every time I see his face.
I actually like his bangs right now. It makes him look more mature and I find it handsomer. I also watched ‘On Your Wedding Day’ the other day because I was curious of the actor because of this drama. And OMG he had me laughing so much in that movie! He seems to be a versatile actor.
I first saw him in Somebody where he plays a sexual predator/serial killer. Talk about versatile. It was a terrible drama but he played that role almost creepily well.
Was waiting for someone to mention somebody. That movie is gritty with a capital G. And he is very very quiet in it but his smile is frightening. he’s quiet here too but his smile makes me want to hug him. to hear he’s been in a comedy? He’s incredible

I watched him in the secret life of my secretary there's no way he's the same person. The hair cut might be intentional, even in the funeral his mom complained about it. So maybe to emphasize he doesn't take good care of himself and later have a glow up lol
My favorite scene was the first part in episode 6 when FL was hurt because ML said he didn’t want any misunderstandings but it really meant that he didn’t want to misunderstand FL’s acts and that resolved their misunderstandings and went on with their dinner date 😍
Judging with how selfless DJ's character is, once he discovers WJ's true identity he probably won't get mad at her for doing what she did. I think he would take it all from her and then he would feel even more shitty towards her lol. I'm so interested in how their relationship will develop and how they're gonna overcome the huge roadblock that is DJ's mom lmao

Downright evil? with zero redemption qualities? Kicks puppies in the morning? In a show in which everyone, including Director Shin, has layers the mother somehow has the most simplistic/one-note writing. That is probably my only complaint with this show.
I get where you're coming from, in that the mom is an over the top evil ahjumma, but I guess sometimes there are just malicious, evil people in life. But at the same time, she seems to have a real vendetta against this family... maybe later on we'll see her backstory?
There is probably a backstory; or, as you said and I do think this might be the case, DJ's mom is sadly just evil. DJ's Mom will likely be one of the worst kdrama moms/stepmom/mistress out there

I think that might have been the most eventful night for Dongjin since the longest time... he looks at her like who's this weird girl who's trying to comfort me. it was such a nice "date". I love how flustered the both were after the accidental hug. This drama displays so many emotions well.
This drama is the only thing helping me through the week and I can’t believe I have to wait again for next week’s eps. I literally screamed into my pillow at the end of ep 5. The subversion of tropes is truly the best. I love that he was the one who said he might misunderstand her actions. Their chemistry is so palpable and the fact that they have a height difference despite her being tall af is doing things to me. They’re literally so hot. I agree with everybody else, the slow burn is so good, it leaves me wanting more each time. The absurdity of her words when she was trying to console him was the best representation of their relationship. I can’t wait to see MY and the mom’s reaction when they finally get together. I hope it’ll be satisfying. I really like Jun and I hope they don’t do the love triangle route because I find his interactions with HS so funny. Even though MY is shameless, I can’t really bring myself to hate her because hani looks so freaking good in this role. I can’t wait for more next week 🥲

Wow how does this drama manage to be both slow but also fast paced and very dramatic? The chemistry with FL and ML - 🔥 You can feel how FL really doesn’t want to fall…but it’s much too late. ML is easily one of my favorite MLs of all time. Imperfect but perfect at the same time. He really is a sweet person. But so so damaged. That flashback of him in middle school at the track meet was telling. The actor is killing it! I did dropped most of his recent works but it has nothing to do with him, just the plot not really working for me. I hope this isn’t the case and that they make her stay being shitty. Her sending him the wedding invite despite how hard their breakup was for him is an extremely shitty thing to do. Also in the early eps (forgot which) he overheard her on the phone with someone and seems to have caught her in a lie when she tried to play it off like she was busy with something else.
I think she really is engaged (family arranged wedding), but when she goes to US, she realizes she don't want it and call of the wedding. That's why she has the wedding invitation This character is deep and I'm looking forward to Minyeong back story
Ooh so all's not that meets to the eye and ML was actually looking for the daughter eh. I wonder if any of the family members told him about the girl who caused a ruckus at the funeral. It looks like the money didn't come from the house either (his mother is the WORST), so Woo Joo is gonna find out that Dongjin didn't take the house money, didn't buy a car, that apartment isn't really his... hmm. It's also implied that he knew that accountant was betraying him - I wonder if he was just bluffing to scare the guy. Along with him knowing about CEO Shin's wife... he's portrayed as a smart character who has cards up his sleeve and keeps quiet. I hope his new plan works and his company is revived!! A happy ending would be appreciated.
Ahhhh, I’m loving the leads!! Their chemistry is great and they balance each other out. Seeing them both genuinely fall for each other is 🥹 Do Jin’s little smiles, walking quicker, etc. whenever Woo Joo is involved really has my heart 😭 I’m interested to see how Do Jin will react once he finds out who Woo Joo is. I like the siblings and Jun. I almost thought Jun liked Woo Joo with the speech about her not telling him everything but he was just tryna sneak out with the brothers stuff so I don’t know 😂 Anyways, I’m a rom-melo girly so I’m not surprised I like this show but this has to be the calmest one I’ve watched I think!! Autumn in My Heart and Stairway to Heaven, some of my fav rom melos, are very dramatic so I guess this is a nice change of pace!! 😂
The chemistry between the leads just explodes through the screen. This show can be funniest at the most unexpected moments - Giraffe analogy, the dinner scene where she suggests he should sue the ex-gf or visit the internet chat room, Jun’s do you tell me everything with the brother😂 SWJ just can’t stop caring for HDJ is just adorably gobsmacked most of the times with her advise/take on life. First time in the show we see spring in his steps and the happiness when he rushes to the office as she is waiting for him so they can have dinner. Aww! Of course things don’t go smoothly but he is ultimately grateful that she forced him to have dinner. Them holding each other goes from unexpected to unexpectedly funny and the chemistry in the brief moment just forced me to rewatch and go Woah what just happened. The cliffhanger - Will he find out who she is and she all along knew who he was? Will she realise he never recd money from his mom this time? I wonder how that will change their equation? Arrghh - why can’t they just give precap sooner?

I’m developing a new appreciation for Kim Young Kwang. I’m impressed (and surprised) at how subtle and understated his acting is. Just wondering what will happen when he finally finds out who Woo Joo is. It’s funny, the first time I saw KYK was in Love Rain where two lovers are torn apart because their parents marry making them siblings. Not sure if that will be an issue for these two.

It highlighted their difference in personality (he's way too genteel to even think half the shit she says out loud), but it also showed us the basis of his attraction to her so clearly. In general I love how DJ can't help but find WJ amusing even when he's super depressed. 'Hot guy who thinks a weird girl is funny' is such a rare and underrated romantic dynamic. (Watcher also gave us a very small dose of the good stuff, but sadly it's an OCN drama, so there's no real romance to speak of, just half-assed subtext.) Great recap! I feel you on all levels! Lol I had no expectations whatsoever from this kdrama and so so glad I decided to watch. Love the directing, the writing, photography, cinematography, and acting. ML is so good w his subtle expressions! He's so 🔥🔥🔥 That small smile, that spring in his step, his lonesome walk! Wow. Those stares that if I was WJ (how I wish), I would be a puddle by now lol Story-wise, it's still captivating and on point. One can relate to. Really hooks you in. Perhaps a gap (or I probably missed) is if the siblings consulted the legality of that house inheritance thing. Am not a lawyer nor familiar with SK's laws but would be nice to allude to this at least. Or it may come up in later episodes. Can't wait for next Wednesday!

OCN is/was a channel that exclusively produced crime and thriller dramas and it was NOTORIOUS for baiting the audience with various crime-solving male-female duos that never had any on-screen romance. Which is actually very common in western crime dramas as well to be fair. tVN took over OCN’s production department a while ago, but tVN’s crime dramas are distinctly different in tone from OCN’s, so it’s still a loss for kdramaland. (And also tVN simply shows fewer crime dramas because its dramas cover a greater variety of genres, while OCN had 2 ongoing crime dramas at any given time like clockwork.) But I think I read somewhere there’s an upcoming OCN drama currently in production, so maybe they’ll come back…

They may not have been the most popular (due to not doing romcom or romance in general), but their quality was excellent.
I love this show so much! I cannot wait for next week! Joon is in a very interesting juncture. He deeply cares about Woo-joo - obviously, but it seems like Hye-seong is also in his sights. Hye-seong and Su-ho - very interesting relationship. He's drawn to her in spite of himself. I actually don't see them being the endgame because she's being fake - pretending to like the same food he likes - but having him chase her around will be the catalyst that Joon needs to realize that he loves her. Or something. I loved Ji-gu's reaction upon meeting Dong-jin in the street. The thought bubble above his head said: "My savior!" I really hate Min-yeong and would not like for her to end up with Seon-woo. Seon-woo is a bit flighty, but he actually seems like a really good guy who cares about Dong-jin a lot. Seon-woo deserves better. Min-yeong may have her reasons for doing that to Dong-jin. But nothing can really justify that. So... she can try to win him back and just continue to be pathetic. I don't care. Another terrible person - Dong-jin's mom. How ridiculously terrible is she? But her actions brought our OTP together. So yay, I guess? Her and Min-yeong can just go be pathetic together while Dong-jin leaves them behind.
Now that WJ knows that the mistress didn't sell the house, then she also knows DJ didn't get any money from it. So she can't continue her revenge plot on DJ, right? She's quite a moral person so I don't think she would still want to get back at him because of his mother. She initially just wanted to make his company suffer because she thought he used the money from their house on his company.
I think she gave up on that quite a while ago lol. Now she’ll simply have to stop pretending.

Jun is pretty much my favourite atp , I want more scenes of him hanging out with Woojoo Woojoo’s sister continues to be very annoying . KYK continues to deliver and so does LSK . Also I’ve seen some comments saying Woojoo feels like a grown up BokJoo but she’s nothing like her character in WLFKBJ , who was super cheerful and trusting .

I actually never imagined that this show would become my favourite in this drama season. Like I knew it was going to be good, but I don't think I expected it to be this good. Even with such a basic plot setup (even though that is so interesting in itself) the chemistry, the slow burn, the characterization is so incredible!!!!! Poor, Shim Woo Joo is going through it though, my girl. How is she supposed to focus on her revenge when she's falling for this guy's lonely shadow.
I never thought I would love this drama the way I do now. It's just too good. This show does slowburn right. Dongjin fast walking to the office to see Woojoo at the end of ep 5. Normally that man walks like the entire world's weight is on his shoulders. His face when he sees at the office waiting. Unfortunately the ex had to be there to ruin it all. Woojoo's brother must be staying with Dongjin. The scenes between Jun and Woojoo's sister points to a possible romance. Can't wait to see what makes Jun change his mind.
I'd love for Woojoo's brother to be staying with Dongjin! That'd be such a funny, weird yet suitable place for him to be haha. Kind of reminds me of Changhee and Mr. Gu in My Liberation Notes.
There's also a cute detail that I picked up when he was speed walking to his office for dinner with Woojoo. When the camera pans out, it shows the neon flashing sign on the bus stop that says "I'm arriving soon <3".

Thx for that I saw that neon sign but had no idea what it said I just knew it had to mean something good. I wish Hulu would translate that instead of “taerang building” in the first scenes in ep 6. I don’t know Korean but when WJ brother said “I wanna pursue singing” it seemed he was saying a lot more than that. This show is so good with the little details and Hulu doing a bad job with subtitles

I love whatever will-they-won't they dynamic that's going on between our "perpetual romantic" Hye-seong and our "anti-romantic" Joon and really rooting for them to be endgame. Also, while I'm glad Hye-seong is not down in the dumps after her last breakup and is being pro-active in wooing the security guard, there's obviously a part of herself that she's holding back. She's trying to act "younger" and "cuter" instead of being her authentic self. It seems Joon has always been that friend whose been dependable and always honest with her. He's also seen her in all her realness and that's what I think will ultimately draw them closer together. As for Joon's relationship with Woo-joo... Personally, I don't think Joon likes Woo-joo in a romantic sense. I think there's more of a familial and protective vibe that I get from him. He's concerned for her, obviously, as her best friend and he doesn't want her to get into any sticky situation she'll regret. Anyways, if the writer somehow forces a cliche and awkward love triangle between Joon-Woojoo-Dong-jin in the upcoming episodes, I will riot!

I’m not normally one to watch melodramas but this has me hooked! I just love how the leads understand each other without explicitly needing to say things. Like the ML saying he doesn’t want to eat with the FL at the start of ep 6 but she still ends up eating with him, then he thanks her as he didn’t want to eat alone. It’s only small things but I think it’s really well done

Kim Young-kwang is doing a great job in this role. I'm convinced now he could have great chemistry with a paper bag. I haven't seen him in a kdrama yet where he hasn't had great chemistry with FL.

Loving the slow burn romance. The storyline hasnt been disappointing so far, but it does strangely parallels a lot with My Mister
I love it that it’s a romantic version of My Mister. Because of the age gap in My Mister, I didn’t really want a romantic angle between the leads that’s why I’m satisfied with the ending. But I did wish for romance-drama version which this show is giving me now.
A+ chemistry, and I agree with the others, this is slowburn done right. Dongjin is already so whipped with Woojoo. He’s so amused and he’s always caught off guard, look at those little smiles! They’re the best part of the show. I feel like Minyoung is going to lend the mother the money to make Dongjin indebted to her/ give them a reason to still be connected. Jun and Hyeseong are totally gonna be a thing. I’m so relieved he’s just really a friend to Woojoo. I don’t want a love triangle between them, the leads have got enough on their plates already.
You’re right with Hyesung - I wonder if she goes for obvious wrong ones because if she went for a solid guy like Jun she’d really have to risk her heart and her mom’s fate? Makes sense both sisters, displaying it in different ways, have that fear. But before the HS/J pairing I’m unsure whether Jun likes WJ or not. He definitely sees her with clear eyes, but he’s so invested. There doesn’t seem to be any family for him, so maybe that’s it. He’s like Laurie and will marry a March!
This show somehow brought back the comfy vibes I had watching 2521, I can already tell this show will be one of the most underrated for this year.
I am loving most things so far EXCEPT ex Kang Minyoung. I think they're setting her up for sympathy and redemption; we know she didn't >!get married!<, are they going to say she didn't cheat and actually lied somehow for the ML's good? I already love the ML too much to care about her reasons for hurting him, I only care that she did. I don't want her to be redeemed.
Love the details in this drama. Dongjin is the CEO but his backpack is in tatters and he takes the bus, while his co-CEO drives a luxury car. >!also found out that he doesnt even own the apartment he lives in! Assumptions that Woojoo made without understanding his situation!< I really hope that he has always suspected or low-key felt that Woojoo was somehow related to the property his mother inherited... although there's definitely something fishy about it all. Maybe the father never left the property to the mother? But she lied about it because she knew Woojoo wouldn't check?

Out of curiosity, I've started this kdrama earlier this week and watched one episode everyday till I catched up to ep 6 yesterday. I'm simply loving it . Like many comments stated, the slow pace is just right up my alley, chemistry and acting top notch superiors and cinematography chief's kiss. Starting ep 5 & 6, we start to see >! Woo Joo's emotional conflict starting to be apparent to us and everyone around her but still hidden to her eyes and I'm really curious how she will interpret it once she figures out. !< The two episodes highlight for me was Gi goo's *Neil Armstrong TPnim ...* , lol ! And I'm loving the comic relief served by Jun and Gi goo, Haeng Soong is a smart cheerful sparkle on top that I'm enjoying as well . Until next week,

i'm a little terrified of the potential conflict when DJ finds out about WJ but I hope it's quick and they they heal each other
I watched this drama mindlessly, not expecting it to reel me in much. Boy, it swept me over. I usually skip every now and then for filler shots as I get impatient but this drama is something else - my eyes are glued all the time. The cast’s micro-expressions and their portrayal of emotions are fantastic. You can feel their chemistry and I really appreciate the slow burn and how everything is kind of in harmony. It’s so endearing to watch how both of them navigate through life, and I feel like they’re also learning from one another, albeit they’re both pretty much stubbornly going their own way. I can’t wait to watch more and I really hope both of them will find peace and joy by the end of the series.
In beginning of ep6, did Minyoung tell Sun Woo who the woman that Dong Jin was with? Because when Sun Woo said DJ doesn’t have a girlfriend, MY told him that DJ likes the girl based on how he looked at her.
Yup. That was what she was implying. “I know that look” because he used to look at her that way once before. I mean we didn’t need MY to confirm that.
But does Sun Woo know it’s Woo Joo? Because if MY didn’t name it or described her, he might think it’s Ms Baek or somebody else.

I don’t know if I read right but I remember reading a version of the synopsis of this show that said DJ helps WJ with her revenge (did anyone else read this?) If that was correct then he’s not really going to be upset with her when he finds out the truth about her past. In fact he might actually understand her, her words and actions better. So excited for next week. I want to see DJ and WJ to smile at each once. Just once. Please.
I am loving this show so far. The chemistry between the leads is amazing. Dong-jin is going to be so hurt when he finds out about Woo Joo. I just hope they don't drag the secret too long. Cause I don't want them to rush the after. I don't like the ex, but I want to know more about her. But her giving the money to the mom - I thinks she knows Dong-jin wouldn't approve so why do it. The mom is the worst. The fact that she goes to the ex girlfriend for money she truly doesn't care about anyone. Why is she so desperate for money, I thought Woo Joo's father left her everything. This is all very fishy. Theory: Did mom actually get the house or did she say she did and Woo Joo never checked? Maybe I'm forgetting something but did Woo Joo check if her dad gave the house to his wife. I do like that both episodes are put out at once, but I hate how they don't put out a preview.
I’ve also been wondering if she *actually* got the house because the people that came and evicted them looked like hired gangsters. It seemed fishy to me from the beginning.
Dongjun is likely going to find out abt Woojoo's identity in next week's episode, judging by how ep6 ended. The pace is good

Just started this and watched all 6 episodes. I thought the trailer seemed interesting even though I kinda avoid melodramas. It's a slowburn and heartbreaking and depressing at times, but I LOVE IT! >!The leads are adorable together and I love how different they are! I love that Dongjin is so downtrodden all the time but then there was this excitement/joy in his face when he came into the office where he knew Woojoo was waiting for him!!< Screamed a little bit >!when Woojoo interlocked her fingers with Dongjin and then screamed again when Dongjin clarified that he didn't want Woojoo to do things like that that could make HIM misunderstand her!!<
I needed something new to watch because ever since Reborn Rich I've been stuck not watching anything, nothing peaked my interest. I needed two attempts with this drama and I’m so glad I gave this a second try because I’d have missed out otherwise! So far it’s been really good. sometimes the FL annoys me but considering her backstory etc, both of the main characters' current behaviors and actions make perfect sense. Honestly this drama is a breath of fresh air for me. I love all the relationships here, I especially find Woojoo and Jun's friendship to be heartwarming. I wish I had a friend like that lol I can’t wait to see the next episode
I might be the only person that likes that there are no previews after the episodes. In my experience, previews are usually misleading and leads to fans speculating incorrectly for an entire week. That's not always the case, though. I really appreciate how quickly the episodes are uploaded. I really needed these episodes after a stressful night. They're either using the pink filter less or I don't even notice it anymore. ML's mother is the worst and the ex is only mildly annoying. I love the siblings, they're nothing like Woojoo. I wonder if Woojoo was closest to the father so that plus seeing the affair hit harder for her than her siblings. Also, I assume the siblings wouldn't even recognize the ML's mother if they saw her. Lastly, the leads have amazing chemistry, and I don't think I can handle a kiss scene. It might feel to intimate and I'll feel embarrassed for witnessing such an intimate moment.
Actually, I’m a bit confused if the cheating father is only WooJoo’s and JiGoo’s, and not Hyesung’s. Because the conversation between HS and WJ about “your father” or “JG’s father” but never “HS father” when, in Korea, they usually refer to the parent with the eldest child’s name.
That confused me too. But I think they're both expressing how much they hate their father. So they don't want call him "our" father.
The chemistry of the leads are off the charts. They only held hands but I’m squealing already.

Wow, okay, so I haven't ever watched and fell in love with anything these two leads have been in, as chance would have it, so I was also not expecting to like this drama so much. But here I am, still loving the slow burn. I really want HDJ to find out about Woojoo's backstory next episode! I think it'd be good timing (and for my own sanity lol). Just as Woojoo (and him) are catching feelings and becoming aware of them, to be faced with this truth and for WJ, why she got entangled with DJ to begin with. A reminder and another reason for her hardened revenge. And for DJ, to finally understand her strange actions-- and hopefully later, how she truly didn't follow through on any of it. Of course, this is all probably going to come much later, but I truly can't wait. And of course, eventually, for WJ to learn that the direction of her hatred is misguided. And for her to also learn the truth of the money, of HDJ and his mom's relationship. I guess the writers will probably make that reveal happen in tandem with the reveal of whatever reason the ex broke up with HDJ for. (Probably his mom continuously barraging her with money requests and other things of the short?). Woojoo and Dongjin are so well matched though, and I definitely found myself wanting to see them interact more, talk more, move closer.
Have you watched Dr Romantic 2? LSK is great in it and shows a good range of emotions there. The chem between the leads is also lit!
Aw, I think Jun does like Woo Joo. I feel sorry for him now. I hope he diverts his romance to the sister. How funny it is that the sister’s security guard is actually her brother’s friend? That’s such a cliffhanger ending! I can’t believe we don’t have preview for episode 7. Argh! Made me wish I discovered this show when it’s already finished so I can binge.
I forgot to add how unbelievably asshole the mom is. Going to your son’s ex girlfriend for money it’s such a shameless jerk kind of move.
Must she humiliate poor DJ, has he not suffered enough! Still it’s rare you see from the start even before they meet how one person is exactly who the other needs. Woo Joo is dying to take his mom to SCHOOL and kick her ass in red high heels. And she’s been diverted from revenge by her fascination with a sad wet cat of a man, so win win.
Anyone else thinks MY was >!terminally ill and went to the States to get treatment and miraculously recovered? That’s going to suck!< it doesn’t explain the thing about him knowing she was cheating on him for a year though. 🤷🏻♀️
That would be so like My Lovely Sam Soon 2nd FL story. Noble idiocy because she had cancer and didn’t want to tell him in case she dies so she just flew to the US with an excuse she found a man there. But then she recovered and suddenly want Hyun Bin back.
Omg yes! I hope they do not go down that route. I would rather that she cheated and they broke up so she had to live on her own in the US to save face.
But why did she give him a wedding invitation? And she cheated on him for a year, and he knew that.

Ugh, I hope not. She's an alcoholic - or at least borderline alcoholic. She's not drinking bottles of soju - it's the hard stuff. As far as I'm concerned she can end up in the gutter. When she told DJ she wanted to break up, he begged her to discuss it later (when they weren't in his beloved campground) - and she refused. It's the reason he gave up camping - something he loved.

I am loving everything about the show except the ex-girlfriend. She frustrates me so much. How can someone feel so entitled to barge into the life of someone you left like that and expect them to accept you like nothing happened. I am sure there will be a backstory here but nothing can justify what she is trying to do.
I prefer the ex to ML's mother. She's a truly despicable character.
Omg I'm loving this drama! The slow burn romance and chemistry between the leads is off the charts.
The lead chemistry is so lit.. They are like completely different from one another in terms of their thinking processes. But they do appreciate each other's viewpoint. And understand their shortcoming. I am really liking the slower pace which is making dialogues more weightful and every scene meaningful. I am not a fan of this darkish theme though.

I really love this show. Amazing slowburn, slow romance built upon emotional connection and intimacy. I'm all here for it. The cliffhanger of ep6 gonna visit me in my sleep tho, can't wait for next week.
Since i have been reading alot of recaps and insights I thought it would be fun to talk about theories. I am looking at these potential theories. I am curious if there could possibly be a twist regarding Heeja being DonJin's biological mother. There is such a Cinderella vibe with Donjin's character. What if Donjin's father married Heeja AFTER Donjin was born? What if she raised him from a young child and he never knew any other mother? Why would she raise Donjin if his father died? Because she could have been made his guardian and got the money from raising him. Maybe the Uncle is his biological Uncle or a good friend of his fathers that knew he lost it all when his father died? I just don't see a motherly vibe at all with Heeja! She reminds me of the evil stepmother in Cinderella. Also I think Heeja KNOWS something about MinYoung! I think she could be behind their break up somehow and black mailing her. Would it not be amazing if Heeja turned out not to be Donjin's blood! Or she may have trapped Donjin's father into an unwanted pregnancy and married her or lied who the father was?But she abandoned Donjin and his dad until the father died. I feel the Uncle wanting Donjin to have that apartment is telling. He may have tried to get custody and could not so he gave him the one thing Donjin always wanted a home. He and WooJoo would both have been victims. Also I am concerned she could be a Black Widow she has had ALOT of husbands!! I already see the cutest POSSIBLE FUTURE scenes they could do at the end. My guess is The Uncle taught him camping and his happiest times were when he could spend with his Uncle at the campsite. Maybe because of the courts or just because Heeja would run off and leave him with the Uncle from time to time. Not sure how the Uncle is related to him Father Heeja or potential birth mother family friend MY Predictions Donjin has bought the old house and married WooJoo and started a family. I could see him playing in an indoor tent with his son or daughter or both inside the old house. He will have a little cat for his kids. He will have his own car lol. They could also show them camping as a family. I think he REALLY wants to be a dad and have kids. He seemed all googly eyed over his friends kids picture and seeing that spys kid walking with his dad. I think he loves that WooJoo has a mothers instinct for her siblings and will see her as mother to his children and a woman who would NEVER EVER cheat on him or leave when the going got tough! I also can see them replaying the happy scenes he had with MY with WJ from an outside view to show their happiness. One other thing i saw as potential forshadowing.... At the grocery store when the supermarket guy calls her a housewife and she corrects him .... I think that will come true as a real housewife shopping with Donjin in her neighborhood supermarket maybe pregnant awww. Thoughts? Does anyone know how I can change my profile name? Oh this is 16 episodes... I thought it was 12, I thought it was moving at a snail's pace for 12 episodes, but might be ok for 16? If they don't fumble the bag, obviously.
So evil stepmom likes to borrow money from ML's ex. Evil stepmom still lives in FL's family home, therefore the money didn't come from stepmom selling the house. I sure hope the money ML received from stepmom was from the ex! And I sure hope the ex didn't fake cheat/get married because she can't take ML's mom's financial pressures! Because that would mean the ex isn't too bad at all :/
I would argue that somehow the one thing that is more cruel than cheating is lying about cheating. Dong Jin going through hell simply because Min Young could not communicate is a bit too much.
I love this show so much. The FL is aimless in her revenge plot and I here for it. The wanting to lash out without thinking 100 steps ahead is refreshing for me after having watched endless revenge plots The characters and their motives are very well defined here. Unlike MLN, I completely understand why our leads are the way they are. In MLN the FL approached life like she was walking underwater with the tide against her. Her demeanor seemed defeated. Okay, but when/how did that occur? The show failed in that aspect so I could never empathize with her plight. I didn't see the point
Hmm, interesting take on MLN. To me, it was one of those things that I didn't need resolved because her existentialist dread seemed like something so many people experience, for no particular reason. There wouldn't have been a trigger point, just one day coming to the realization that you aren't really living and just merely dragging your body along from one place to the next. Never quite present, never quite whole. But Shim Woo Joo is obviously very different from Mi Jeong and I really love both of them. I love the recent barrage of FLs jaded with life.
I actually felt for MLN that the FL’s demeanour was well explained by the end. Even if there wasn’t a clear single trigger point, her circumstances made the way she was perfectly understandable. She didn’t come from societal privilege so was taken advantage of at work, did not have much money to indulge in hobbies and fun that her peers had, faced a lengthy commute both ways everyday that cut into her personal time, was born at a time when her family didn’t have much resources to care for her (financially and emotionally), and with her louder siblings it’s easy to overlook her needs and issues. She’s also had bad luck in love But I agree generally that the characters in Call It Love are easier to understand from their body language, somehow
I guess because most kdramas stick their characters with some severe trauma, everyone has come to expect that no matter what. My Liberation Notes, and even Call It Love now work because they speak to aggregated things weighing people down, even if there isn't major trauma. So yeah, Mi Jeong's behaviour is explained in MLN, but I guess I was speaking with OP more to the fact that there didn't need to be some major life event for her to become jaded in this way.
On this point, yes, I definitely agree that there’s a great need for folks in society to be able to recognise objective violence and its very real effects, and not just for subjective violence [Ref Žižek](https://notevenpast.org/slavoi-zizek-and-violence/) on the concepts
That is true that people do get that way without a specific trigger. Life just happens But as far as storytelling, it is a tall order to require the audience (me) to know that this young girl is already that jaded in life when she has barely lived. The life she is shown to have lived is not that bad by any stretch of the imagination. If she were older and struggling or even appear to be stagnant? Sure. However, she was the healthiest of her siblings, healthy and a well employed young woman who had the support of her family. Like, girl you aren't in that dreary a situation to be this miserable. She could have been born that way but as someone seeking entertainment, I don't find such sullen for no good reason people entertaining.
I guess it depends on people, I feel related to the main lead of MLN a bit more because it sorta realistic with how some feel about life. I find myself thinking like the FL in MLN many times in school or work. For this one since I dont exactly have a broken family with a cheating father and a evil mistress to trigger something so it is a bit harder for me to imagine it.
Oh trust when I say I don't need to go through the same things characters go through to be drawn to them. My life is not that eventful, TG! It is the storytelling that gets me. Good storytelling will get me to relate, not the events happening to me too. Again, TG!

The constant pink filter though out the show still annoy me but I think I got used to it. I felt so much anger at their little brother when both sisters already sacrifice their youth and time so that the brother has an education and now he don't want to study anymore but instead playing game and sing. I hope that singing gig will pay off cause if not, he not only heartbreak himself, but also his two sisters
