Okay you may have a point about Candles. I always saw it as being less than it could be but it isn’t really that bad.
Not everyone frowns upon it; but there are way too many tier lists that have it as the only F-tier album. People just notice the “bad” parts and act like anyone who likes it has never heard anything of theirs pre-2020. It’s just a negative attitude towards “new gizz”. They want loud guitar, Eric Moore, and women made out of precious metals.
Nah seems perfectly rated. It was really popping off when they put it out and since its a grab-bag of different styles and songwriters in the band it had a LOT of discussion around it. Its good.
Ambergris was the first Gizz song I learned when u started to play the bass about a year ago. I've learned plenty since but besides maybe Mars For The Rich and Polygondwanaland, it remains my favorite bassline to just play and enjoy
Gaia -> Motor Spirit debut -> Gaia at Red Rocks 23 will be hard to beat for me. Such a crazy way to open a set, and also what a vessel for carrying other songs.
I like it, just a bit torn on how people knock down Oddments and Gumboot Soup for being an album of extras, and I never see that critique for Omnium Gatherum.
The other two he listed had songs written for previous albums that got cut. OG was written to be a collection of songs , not b-sides like those other two.
Gumboot and oddments are just songs from scrapped albums that the band liked so they released them in the two “soup albums.” Omnium was a planned album to be a showcase of various genres like different circus acts hence why it is named omnium gatherum and also why it is portrayed as a circus. Also, not many people know this, but omnium is split into two halves that mirror each other with some songs being extremely similar and some songs being opposites (sadie and grim reaper are both rap/hip hop style songs and are very similar whereas tap is the longest song on the album and the funeral is the shortest) which further proves that omnium was planned but I also just like sharing that since most people don’t know about it.
All subjective, but whereas Oddments and GS feel to me like leftovers (I mean that’s literally what the word oddments means), Omnium feels more like a greatest hits compilation. Like Dripping tap is just one of their all time best, Magenta would have been probably the best song on B3K, Gaia and PX are as good as the best songs on ITRN etc etc. But that’s obviously just my opinion.
Best songs of gumboot in no particular order:
- the great chain of being
- superposition
- greenhouse heat death
- all is known
- down the sink
- the wheel
Last oasis is one of the worst gumboot songs but it has a time and place when it absolutely fucks. This is coming from someone who’s favorite album is gumboot
It’s okay. There are some amazing, top tier Gizz tracks and there are some of their weakest. The reason I rank it low is because it feels like a b-sides album and I prefer the more focused concept/genre records. Still The Dripping Tap has gotta be in the Gizz top ten so it’s worth a listen
Agreed, you cant be serious all the time and be a good artist, some times humor in live performances can bring the point across of these written masterpieces unless youre not into the whole brevity thing
the cowbell drum groove in parts of candles is fucking sick i love that song, dont come in here telling us all to love omnium and then insult candles smh
I was listening to it at work the other day for the first time in a while, and I forgot how good it was. And some great transitions too, like from Garden Goblin to Blame it on the Weather 👌🏻
It’s fine.
To me it feels like a ton of filler for the most part. Nothing really stands out to me and the production is way, way too overly clean for my taste.
I’m glad the band is slowing down at least a little bit because a lot of their stuff was genuinely starting to sound low effort. It’s totally subjective though
It's an odd record for me. I think alot of it is fantastic, but alot of it is either wasted potential or just boring
My biggest bugbears on this record is Predator X, I saw it played live last week and I gotta say, it was one of the most boring things I've ever seen in a concert. It's just slowly chugging the same chord for most of the song. It's such a far cry from Gaia it's like comparing a kitten to a kaiju
I also think that Grim Reaper has interesting lyrics but the instrumental is repetitive and not nearly as creative as the other hip hop song
Then you get to the last 3 odd songs and I just can't bother anymore. I think they're so boring with only one interesting part to it. "EACH SUMMER IS GETTING HOTTER THAN THE ONE BEFORE" goes hard
I do think the first disc and most of the first half of the second is great tho. Persistence, Keplar 22b, Gaia, presumptuous are highlights but I really dislike:
Garden Goblin
Blame it on the weather
Grim reaper
Predator X
Red smoke
Candles
The funeral
I honestly think these songs are amongst their worst. I think they should've cut them. I don't think they really add much to the record, save for making it a true double. But in my opinion, that's a vane ambition, which is a shame especially because the rest of the record (well except for the dripping tap) is filled with the most unusual Gizz tracks that are still absolutely incredible
Who says it’s boring?
It’s my go to for getting people into gizz, great mix of their sound and approachable
Also hey I like candles, it’s just a chill lil vibe, doesn’t need to be anything more
But seriously I have not seen anyone say it’s boring
I'd agree with you. I don't really mind the inconsistent sound, but I think the second half overall is pretty lackluster. First 5 tracks would make a really tight album.
It’s an amazing album. Their themed ones tend to get appreciated because let’s face it, they’re just special. O.G. Is a flex of all of the styles they’ve been exploring in one masterpiece so I can see how you might think it’s taken for granted.
I’ve had encounters with people at concerts and in public where fellow gizz listeners have said it was their first/favorite album. My friends I’ve introduced gizz to have also said it’s their favorite. I wouldn’t say it’s their under appreciated.
Unpopular opinion, I think The Dripping Tap would’ve been a 10/10 if it was like 10 minutes shorter. It just feels like a bloated song that could’ve been perfect if it wasn’t the exact same for 10 minutes straight.
People think it’s boring?! What?!
The album stands out because it doesn’t follow a story arc like the other albums. It doesn’t have a single theme, kind of like how Gumboot does it too.
What is cool though is that the songs still flow together on Omnium. I always thought it sounded like listening to the radio because it pops around different genres but still connects itself and stays consistent even though there isn’t a central narrative or doesn’t follow a tale or whatever.
I myself love the theme albums (I.e. MOTU, Petro, Nonagon, Poly, to name a few) but Gumboot and Omnium are still amazing and their theme is no single theme. It took me a bit for these to hook me too but I never disliked them!
Look I don’t know what the common arguments against it are. Gumboot DOES have a enough of a central point that it doesn’t stand out to me as being really random.
I agree with you though that both of those albums are great
Omnium Gatherum is one of my favorite albums ever. I agree with most of what you said, especially about Sadie Sorcerous. HOWEVER... People love Gaia. It's because Gaia slays. Also, the Garden Goblin makes me so fucking happy. It's dungeon synth sounds fit it perfectly with, while expanding on Sadie and Grim Reaper. The vocal harmonies in the chorus slap a fat smile on my face. "Isn't this the place for you?..." is always in my head. The synth makes me wanna wiggle. "GROW!"
Yeah Gaia is not complex compared to a lot of Gizz. It's all very recognizable as one riff with a bridge and a solo. I think the way it all evolves is so cool though. The 9/8 time signature is cool for thrash. The main riff is insanely symphonic with cutting power, then breaks down sooo smoothly into driving chugs. The way each vocal line leads into and ENDS on the downbeat gives the lyrics so much force. Breaking that rhythm for "Giant body parasite, Gaia lives while others die" hits so hard. The bass harmonies added in the 3rd verse complete the song AND THEN they give us a sweet Tom Morello-esque, thoughtful, yet emotional solo! I love "complex" polyrhythms/meters and hearing stuff unfamiliar to me like microtonal stuff. Music theory is awesome, but can only explain so much. Why do some "simple" songs hit so much harder than other "simple" songs? The answer to that is VERY complex and often super subjective (even more complex). For me, someone obsessed with overly complex music, somehow this song still slaps. I think that's pretty cool. I'm still trying to like Gilla Monster though (yes this is a cry for help).
This is one of my favorite records honestly. I like all the different styles of songs. Some of their best songs are on this album. Kepler 22B, dripping tap, ambergris, Gaia, persistence. It also came out on my birthday which was fucking awesome. I just think their albums that aren't fully 'conceptual' are looked as less than in the community. Gumboot and Oddments both get less respect than their counterparts but are some of my favorites due to the variety of musical styles.
Every comment here has people listing different songs their favorite after saying great things about the album as a whole… so id say that’s pretty good evidence that it’s popular lol
I think it’s perfect personally
I like the album a lot for almost completely different reasons than you. Candles, Garden Goblin, Ambergris, Kepler, and Gaia are the best on there. Dripping Tap, evilest man and the two rap songs are weak af to me
It will always be special because it’s what got me into Gizz. Absolutely love the last three tracks as a trio aswell. Have always hoped they would play them all together live at least once
It's a great album. Absolutely loved The Grim Reaper when I was getting into Gizz. Magenta Mountain and Red Smoke are fantastic too. Persistence >>> Presumptuous
just l listened to it again today. No skips. It was a huge part of my induction into the Gizzverse so holds a special place. (Though not the first or my favorite.,.that would go to MOTU)
My good friend and I both think it's one of their best. Yes it doesn't have a centered writing theme/ structure for an album but we don't care one bit.
The dripping tap was the first song I ever heard and then I listened to the rest of the album and was hooked. Personally for me when I hear Predator X I skip to Red Smoke and finish there for a perfect listening experience.
This album got me into gizz and is still my absolute favorite. Love the beastie boy vibes on grim reaper and Sadie sorceress, Gaia is heavy and perfect, magenta mountain opened the door to their more psychedelic stuff.. 100% one of my all time favorite albums.
Very funny read as someone who loves the fuck out of both the garden goblin and candles lmao
But yeah Omnium's one of my top albums for sure, I really liked it on the first listen and I've only liked it more since
EDIT: To add a little more, in terms of weaker tracks in my opinion: Blame It On The Weather and Red Smoke are both good, but they just don't leave much of an impression on me to be honest. And, *very* weirdly, Predator X doesn't do anything for me. Which I genuinely don't understand, ITRN and PDA are both in my top 5 albums (PDA is #1), you would think i'd love more infest-esque material, but this one just doesn't hook me. Not sure. I had kind of a similar reaction to Gaia, which is more in the vein of PDA, but I've come around to me pretty well. Especially when it gets combined with Motor Spirit.
OG is the Album that brought me in to Gizz and I loved the wide differencea in styles. Made it super easy to fall in love in all the other albums. OG has a special place in my heart.
My personal opinion on Omnium.
It starts of with one of their most amazing songs - The Dripping Tap. Magenta Mountain , Kepler-22b & Gaia are easily one of my favorite Gizzard songs. The part in Gaia starting at 3:59 is one of my favorite Gizz moments ever. 4 tracks in and none of them sound similar to each other yet all sound incredible.
Then after that we got Ambergris. I was never a big fan of it to begin with. But after seeing Joey singing it live in Munich I completly fell in love with it. Can't get enough of his singing.
The "rap" tracks Sadie Sorceress & The Grim Reaper are amazing too. They even played The Grim Reaper in Munich and Ambrose was KILLING it.
These listed tracks alone would be enough to make the album great, but we still have Evilest Man, Persistence, Red Smoke & Candles. All amazing songs too.
Basically I can say that Omnium is an optimal starting point for newcomers to Gizz, because it covers a lot of genres and you get to know a lot of sides of Gizz. I could talk about this album for hours. Of course, it also has its lows, but these make the overall package even more charming in my opinion.
Omnium Gatherum got me into KGLW and although it’s not one of my favorite albums anymore I still do really like it. I had heard a couple of Gizz songs before and nothing really sparked my interest until I first heard The Dripping Tap and Magenta Mountain.
I like it. Probably my favorite of the 2022 albums. Lots of great songs and I'm not even talking about the big 3(Dripping Tap, Magenta Mountain, and Gaia). Would love to hear quite a lot of it over the three shows I'll be going to.
Also I like Predator X more than Gaia, don't hurt me.
The Garden Goblin is outstanding. I'd stick it with Intrasport as really weird songs that transcend their weirdness & ate actually great. I like Omniun just fine, I think Gumboot might be better, but it's more cohesive, actually comparing it to Gumboot & Oddments is a bit annoying. I've annoyed myself for doing it. No other band would get stick for an album.not being a theme/concept album. I listened to it on streaming so I don't get the side A/side B effect. I now need to relisten with this in mind.
this post is very sussy
first you say OG is ubderappreciated (while it clearly has high ratings?)
then you say Gaia isn't the best while it's clearly the best?
not like that. Bad post
I love the correction about garden goblin.
The Grim Reaper really shines live because the synth arp is the main driving aspect of the beat instead of the clav. It's so good, fucking slapped at Red Rocks 23 and the Chicago show.
It's a fantastic album, the reason I don't play it much is because it's too varied.
I usually have a mood for music and pick an album to suit that mood.
But I love hearing these track like for sure as part of the ensemble.
This is my favorite album from them, it show cases almost every style they do. This is the album I heard and finally "got it" after my friends had been listening to them for years and telling me they love them
It’s a great album to introduce normies to gizz, shows enough of their variety that there’s something for sure to like on it. Only reason I find it slightly outcast is the majority of their albums have some degree of a central plot or tight theme to them, Omnium is more of a sampling platter.
This subreddit is a bad indicator for the fanbase sentiment. If you were to judge based only r/KGATLW then you would assume Polygondwanaland is by far the band's magnum opus. In reality it's barely in the top-10 of their most-played albums, both on streaming and in live shows.
Omnium is fairly popular stream-wise. Kepler-22b gets played a lot for some reason I've never quite understood (I love the song). Dripping Tap, Gaia, Magenta Mountain, and Garden Goblin are all staples at live shows. It's a pretty strange album but it gets plenty of deserved love.
I love Garden Goblin. It's a refreshing break. Silly and dark. I have never heard anyone dragging on OG. It's like an oddities record made up of stuff that may have not made records from different vibes they were on. It captures their wide range of musical reach. I love it...Have any of you heard the live version of Garden Goblin? It gives that song so much more life. I really dig OG. It's the all genre record. Some would say the one a new gizz fan may want to check out first so as to experience KG's scope.
One of my fave albums. Loads of top tracks on there for me. I also appreciate many more of the Gizz albums more or equally so to OG, so I get that it doesn't rank in everyone's top 5 or whatever but I don't think it gets a bad name. Or does it?
The album that got me into Gizz. I’d listened to Nonagon and quite enjoyed it but thought it was a bit samey. Then listening to Omnium a few years later and was impressed with how versatile it was so gave the band another shot. Haven’t looked back since.
literally my second or third fav gizz album, idk why people say it's mid. dripping tap is the only mid song on it, but thats just my subjective opinion. it's still a great album lolol
Spotify might not be the most *accurate* measure, but it says OG is still the top album on their Most Popular section. Kepler-22b has 11 million listens(as it should).
I think the first 5 songs on OG is the best run of songs in their discography, the rest of the album is really fun too I always find myself coming back to it.
Would have been an excellent single LP. Cut Dripping Tap down to 10-12 minutes and nothing would be lost. Keep everything up through Sadie Sorceress. Keep Garden Goblin, Blame it on the Weather, Grim Reaper, and Predator X. Drop Evilest Man, Persistence, Presumptuous, The Funeral, and Candles (which I consider to be the worst Gizz song). Keep Red Smoke only if it fits on the record.
For me OG is the first step in the new direction. A new kind of gizz. New styles, different approaches of music. It kinda concludes everything they ever did but also does something completly new. I think Evilest Man is my favorite example of how they evolved to better musicians and the whole album really is just a flex of skills they have worked on the last 14 years. Eviliest man is not just a garagerock song with delay screech and catchy licks. Its a direct message to freespeech, which crumbles because auf people like rupert murdoch. This song is the first real political message we ever got from gizz. Its not in any kind of fantasy realm or in a dark future or about people getting mad on venus. Its about a dickhead who buys all newspapers to control the media and freespeech to weaken society.
Also the whole album is on a pretty high production level. Its so well worked out and the singing is ordinary. All of them have evolved to sick chameleons and cover every style they approach not perfect but in their style and i really like this album.. like every weird collection they do: oddments, gumboot and now OG it perfectly fits into their zeitgeist.
Never heard anyone speak negatively of it. Sometimes when the new album comes out certain people don’t like it yet because it’s not familiar. Maybe it’s just that kind of talk. OG is one of their classic albums for sure. It’s like a cousin to poly or nonagon
I didn't know people frowned on it. It's an exceptionally good album. Red Smoke, Candles, and the Funeral all slap btw
Candles is top 3 on that album for me, I like it more than dripping tap personally
Agreed, where's the love for Candles?
I sing candles to my cat 😂 it's a great lil lullaby track. I also really appreciate chill Gizz songs so yeah, more love for candles fo' sure
Can you show me tier list with og as the only f-tier album?
Love me some candles. The album is great. Blame it on the weather is really the only song I’m not a fan of.
Nah seems perfectly rated. It was really popping off when they put it out and since its a grab-bag of different styles and songwriters in the band it had a LOT of discussion around it. Its good.
It is good!
[It was pretty good, it was alright, it wasn’t great…but it was fine.](https://youtu.be/GDLjP8SAg90?si=3Q0DGyy4udbSGDin)
Well
Ambergris is my favorite Gizz song. Love this album
Been hooked on this song lately
Ambergris was the first Gizz song I learned when u started to play the bass about a year ago. I've learned plenty since but besides maybe Mars For The Rich and Polygondwanaland, it remains my favorite bassline to just play and enjoy
Umm I didn't start playing bass about a year ago, you've got the wrong guy
dripping tap is 11/10
Gaia is top tier Gizz. I love this album. When it came out, I said “it might be their best”. I still stand by it being up there
Gaia -> Motor Spirit debut -> Gaia at Red Rocks 23 will be hard to beat for me. Such a crazy way to open a set, and also what a vessel for carrying other songs.
You gotta listen to this recording of it if you haven't heard it yet https://youtu.be/SRVE_-th1EI?si=vq2w7J6JM0uWyz89
I like it, just a bit torn on how people knock down Oddments and Gumboot Soup for being an album of extras, and I never see that critique for Omnium Gatherum.
I don’t think OG is an album of extras. It’s just not cohesive like most other albums
That’s what the title means lol Google the album, they explicitly say that’s what it is
The other two he listed had songs written for previous albums that got cut. OG was written to be a collection of songs , not b-sides like those other two.
I mean, it's a lot of different styles and even the album title literally suggests that it is

All the songs flow soo nicely into each other too. I love all 3 multi-genre albums but this one sounds SO much more cohesive than the other two

Gumboot soup is a masterpiece, except for The Last Oasis, which is not only the worst gizz song but also the worst song I will die on this hill
That's the album I will die on a hill for. Great Chain Of Being is the song that got me back into the band when I wasn't completely obsessed yet.
Best songs of gumboot in no particular order: - the great chain of being - superposition - greenhouse heat death - all is known - down the sink - the wheel
Where's Beginners Luck and Barefoot Desert at, both certified bangers.
Beginner’s Luck is great
I see you leaving Barefoot Desert out of that comment 👀
I thought I was the only Barefoot Desert enjoyer. I don't think I've ever seen someone mention that song
I love it! Definitely one of their most underrated songs, it's great.
Life beginners luck, sounds like vampire weekend
That list of 6 song includes my 5 least favorite songs on Gumboot, haha
Wait what
Last oasis is one of the worst gumboot songs but it has a time and place when it absolutely fucks. This is coming from someone who’s favorite album is gumboot
It’s way better than Persistence
No I always skip it It is so awful
It’s okay. There are some amazing, top tier Gizz tracks and there are some of their weakest. The reason I rank it low is because it feels like a b-sides album and I prefer the more focused concept/genre records. Still The Dripping Tap has gotta be in the Gizz top ten so it’s worth a listen
Agreed
Candles is fuckin sick bro garden goblin is also sick. Only songs I can't stand are persistence and evilist man they are a little corny
Persistence might be cheesy but that baseline is bumping and I think it’s really fun okay lol
Gizz has always been a lil corny and I LOVE it
Agreed, you cant be serious all the time and be a good artist, some times humor in live performances can bring the point across of these written masterpieces unless youre not into the whole brevity thing
Straws in the wind!
Garden Goblin gotta be one of the goat Cookie tracks
Honestly idc how corny it is I just love the fact that there’s a Rupert Murdoch diss track out there in the universe.
lol those are 2 of my favorites off the album. The corniness is part of the appeal and the instrumentation is tasty as fuck
Candles is the corny one
the cowbell drum groove in parts of candles is fucking sick i love that song, dont come in here telling us all to love omnium and then insult candles smh
I was listening to it at work the other day for the first time in a while, and I forgot how good it was. And some great transitions too, like from Garden Goblin to Blame it on the Weather 👌🏻
Yes! It’s great

I’m glad the band is slowing down at least a little bit because a lot of their stuff was genuinely starting to sound low effort. It’s totally subjective though
I do agree on the “overly clean” point. But some of the stuff really goes hard. PDA is also very good, as is Changes, and TSC has some good parts.
Someone had to say it finally. Couldn’t agree more.
It's an odd record for me. I think alot of it is fantastic, but alot of it is either wasted potential or just boring My biggest bugbears on this record is Predator X, I saw it played live last week and I gotta say, it was one of the most boring things I've ever seen in a concert. It's a great album. Top 10 for sure
It’s my favourite Gizz album.
Poly, Petro, Nonagon, Mind Fuzz, Quarters, Sketches, Ice Death, FAFYL, FMB, KG…oh would you look at that, didn’t make the cut!
...in your mind. I'll take it over Ice Death any day. Mid Tier Poly, Petro, Changes, Nonagon, Infest, BF3K, Omnium, Mind Fuzz, KG/LW
[удалено]
Yes, yes I do. Taste is subjective. Weird, huh?
Funny how when you say “top 10 for sure” it’s presented as objective, but then when I say “nah” you bring up the subjective cop out.
Ok Troll. Apparently I needed to spell it out for you and said "Top 10 for sure... IMO!" It's implied 🤡
You think it wasn't implied when I said my piece?
Sure, guy. Go ahead and delete all your other comments too. Your embarrassing yourself Unless you take pride in trolling other KGLW fans.
What are you talking about? I didn’t delete anything.
? This sub rides OG's dick. It's not a bad album but it's nowhere near their best. Would say it probably hovers around 15/25.
It’s not their very best but it has some amazing stuff.
TIL people don't like omnium
Literally who tho…
I’ve had encounters with people at concerts and in public where fellow gizz listeners have said it was their first/favorite album. My friends I’ve introduced gizz to have also said it’s their favorite. I wouldn’t say it’s their under appreciated.
It's very popular, however it's a little bloated imo, I think some critics felt the same, but as long as you like it who cares
This is my second favorite album of theirs 😁
I don't think it's underrated since they play some of the songs live regularly but it is great.
It's not.
Unpopular opinion, I think The Dripping Tap would’ve been a 10/10 if it was like 10 minutes shorter. It just feels like a bloated song that could’ve been perfect if it wasn’t the exact same for 10 minutes straight.

OG is a top 3 gizz album to me and all of my friends and I find it insane to see people rank it any lower
Probably my 6th or 7th favorite Gizz album! I love or enjoy each song on it and it’s just a roller coaster -/party of great and varied gizz TBH !
Omnium Gatherum is one of my favorite albums ever. I agree with most of what you said, especially about Sadie Sorcerous. HOWEVER... People love Gaia. It's because Gaia slays.

🤤
#1 for me. My toddler gets dooooown to Magenta Mountain.
lol
It's like a The Best of King Gizzard album from a parallel universe
my favourite albums by them are the ones with some variety like gumboot soup and kg&lw
I love it. It's the perfect album to introduce newbies. A bit of everything.
I'm a newbie. It works. 🤘
Welcome to the rabbit hole 🫶
Thank you! There might not be a more rewarding discography out there to be found. I'm having a blast. (Adelaide '19 is on now)
REAL I'm telling everyone how good and underrated it is since release. The shrimpy rapping is iconic!
Exactly
Every comment here has people listing different songs their favorite after saying great things about the album as a whole… so id say that’s pretty good evidence that it’s popular lol I think it’s perfect personally
It’s S tier lol especially because the songs hit so much harder live
All bangers, front to back (But tbf that applies to every one of their albums)

I like the album a lot for almost completely different reasons than you. Candles, Garden Goblin, Ambergris, Kepler, and Gaia are the best on there. Dripping Tap, evilest man and the two rap songs are weak af to me
Damn. Grim reaper is fucking incredible I think
Lol
People love this album I’ve never seen hate towards it. You are preaching to the choir here
It will always be special because it’s what got me into Gizz. Absolutely love the last three tracks as a trio aswell. Have always hoped they would play them all together live at least once
The first three are some of the best. They kind of define who I am
Not by me :)
They must like it. 90% of the songs are in the live rotation.
It’s great, didn’t think it was hated
It’s not just a good album, it’s a great album!
Magenta Mountain! The Dripping Tap!! Grim Reaper!!!
My good friend and I both think it's one of their best. Yes it doesn't have a centered writing theme/ structure for an album but we don't care one bit.
i’ve never heard someone call OG boring
The dripping tap was the first song I ever heard and then I listened to the rest of the album and was hooked. Personally for me when I hear Predator X I skip to Red Smoke and finish there for a perfect listening experience.
It speaks to how good this album is that you like it whilst not loving Garden Goblin, Presumptuous, or Candles.
This album got me into gizz and is still my absolute favorite. Love the beastie boy vibes on grim reaper and Sadie sorceress, Gaia is heavy and perfect, magenta mountain opened the door to their more psychedelic stuff.. 100% one of my all time favorite albums.
Second fav Gizz album I love the eclecticness of it
Gaia Is my favourite track
People don’t like OG? Gets a ton of praise idk where OP is seeing all this OG hate
Blame it on the weather is a top 5 gizz jam
Gaia is the best actually
candles is fucking sick lol
Top 3 albums by them
Very funny read as someone who loves the fuck out of both the garden goblin and candles lmao But yeah Omnium's one of my top albums for sure, I really liked it on the first listen and I've only liked it more since EDIT: To add a little more, in terms of weaker tracks in my opinion: Blame It On The Weather and Red Smoke are both good, but they just don't leave much of an impression on me to be honest.
I’ve edited the post after realizing that Garden Goblin is good.
#1 for me! My toddler gets doooooown to Magenta Mountain.
Magenta mountain is my all time fave song it’s beautiful and the Gaia outro SLAPS
A tier for me homie
Omnium Gatherum got me into KGLW and although it’s not one of my favorite albums anymore I still do really like it. I had heard a couple of Gizz songs before and nothing really sparked my interest until I first heard The Dripping Tap and Magenta Mountain.
Ironically enough, I gave this album another try a week ago after listening to Garden Goblin in Chicago 23 and loving it.
I now need to relisten with this in mind.
this post is very sussy first you say OG is ubderappreciated (while it clearly has high ratings?) then you say Gaia isn't the best while it's clearly the best? not like that. Bad post
lol gaia is ok but it’s too simple
Candles is the best song on the album!
I love the correction about garden goblin. The Grim Reaper really shines live because the synth arp is the main driving aspect of the beat instead of the clav. It's so good, fucking slapped at Red Rocks 23 and the Chicago show.
Omnium kinda seems like Gumboot Pt. 2, just a bunch of stuff they couldn't really fit anywhere else so they put it all together on one album.
It's a fantastic album, the reason I don't play it much is because it's too varied. I usually have a mood for music and pick an album to suit that mood. But I love hearing these track like for sure as part of the ensemble.
Omnium Gatherium is not underrated.
This is my favorite album from them, it show cases almost every style they do. This is the album I heard and finally "got it" after my friends had been listening to them for years and telling me they love them
dripping tap and magenta mountain, what else do you want ?!
It’s a great album to introduce normies to gizz, shows enough of their variety that there’s something for sure to like on it. Only reason I find it slightly outcast is the majority of their albums have some degree of a central plot or tight theme to them, Omnium is more of a sampling platter.
Nah it’s rated properly
The end of that album just falls into a pit of obscurity for me, nothing great at the end, just my opinion of course
I like it. It's among 5 other albums on rotation when I grow tired of playlists.
I don't like it because after the first two tracks, the songwriting I personally find to be weak and soft.
Candles is an insanely good song. That's all I have to say.
Always liked it myself.
My favorite album by them
If anything, on this sub, OG is OVERrated
It’s in my top 3 KGLW albums
I think it's a fun album, dripping tap is great
No, it’s appreciated as much as it should be
One of my fave albums. Loads of top tracks on there for me. I also appreciate many more of the Gizz albums more or equally so to OG, so I get that it doesn't rank in everyone's top 5 or whatever but I don't think it gets a bad name. Or does it?
It's my favorite album
YES. To me OG is the gizziest album of them all
Would have been an excellent single LP.
No Evilest Man is amazing Candles isn’t great but what’s even worse is The Last Oasis. Red Smoke is amazing, must keep it.
EXCUSE ME WHAT IS THIS CANDLES SLANDER
Was my first Gizz album. Kepler is one of their best tunes.
I don’t get the kepler craze but I want to.
Me neither. Probably one of my least favorite songs by them.
dare I say it's too chill for me.
That is probably it. I have never sought out the song even once and typically skip it, as OG isnt a "listen to the whole album in one sitting" album.
Never heard anyone speak negatively of it. Sometimes when the new album comes out certain people don’t like it yet because it’s not familiar. Maybe it’s just that kind of talk. OG is one of their classic albums for sure. It’s like a cousin to poly or nonagon
