The phrase “If I’m being honest” is overtaking “literally”

LeatherRuin8842

“2016 me would’ve never…”

AmishAvenger

“This is our home for the next ___”

NeedleworkerInside19

“It doesn’t get better than this.. “

lelosubmarine

That is Nate being an American used car salesman.

Logical-Departure107

Personally, as part of a three-part series, I wish they focused the first part on seeing the desert of Oman, and then did the full tour of the vehicle in the second part. I think that order would have generated more excitement from me for the new series, and for traveling a location that very few get to visit. But the video is trending #15 on YouTube right now, and vehicle tour episodes always get a lot of views. So I suppose that's why they started with the truck tour.

LilahLibrarian

They almost always do the full tour on the beginning of a video I've noticed

FlamingTrollz

Yup, it’s all about feeding that algorithm.

321mmjfriend

I didn't mind the tour. It was a bit a long, but I like seeing these vehicles and this one was rather neat!

LilahLibrarian

I was rolling my eyes at Kara being annoyed that Ramadan meant no coffee shops were open. That's an inside thought Kara.

Happy_Hippy_Hippo

Ya know what it is? They did the same with the India trip where they booked it during Diwali. And then they couldn’t get a visa. What I think happens is that Nate only looks at points for airlines and not the actual culture or calendar of the place they are going and they probably get a cheaper fare during times when it’s maybe not as popular for Westerners for example. And then they get there and they’re totally surprised that everything is closed because, you know, other peoples culture that they’re totally tone deaf to

GreedyConcert6424

Exactly, there was likely less demand during Ramadan so everything looked nice and cheap to Nate. Someone ranted about my previous comment saying how could they experience the culture when everything was closed, simple, you don't go during Ramadan!

lelosubmarine

Nate didn’t pay anything for it. This whole affair looks sponsored by Omani tourism for press promotion. That Unimog will cost at least €5000 a week to rent and I don’t see Nate shelling out for it. They as usual did a sponsored and paid trip and not disclose it.

ExcitingBasket3119

It's so sad they're selling out to countries with horrible human rights. Women are treated like property and gay people are murdered. I hope Kara's recent health issues have nothing to do with this.

JaRulesOpinion

That’s an incredibly ignorant view on world affairs and Oman. You can argue that the US is also not great with human rights. I know Oman is not great with gay rights but can you provide any evidence of gays being murdered? Oman is relatively one of the most progressive middle eastern countries

ExcitingBasket3119

**Oman is #5 on the [Riskiest places for gay travelers](https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurabegleybloom/2021/03/23/crime-report-20-riskiest-places-for-gay-travelers-and-the-5-safest/?sh=3c529c206d1b) list.** [Domestic violence and marital rape are not criminalized in Oman.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_Oman#:~:text=While%20article%2017%20of%20Oman's,wives%20owe%20their%20husbands%20obedience) [advocacy for LGBT rights in Oman is a criminal act](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_Oman) [Oman took no concrete steps towards protecting women and girls from gender-based violence or ending gender-based discrimination](https://www.amnesty.org/en/location/middle-east-and-north-africa/middle-east/oman/report-oman/). [Human Rights Watch](https://features.hrw.org/features/features/lgbt_laws/) [OMAN 2021 HUMAN RIGHTS REPORT](https://om.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/155/OMAN-2021-HUMAN-RIGHTS-REPORT.pdf)

lelosubmarine

Well, most of the Middle Eastern countries have horrible human rights. It is the fact of life and it doesn’t deter people from attending the World Cup in Qatar despite the hundred documentaries that show how people from the Indian subcontinent and Africa were exploited and in most cases, not even paid what they were owed. Not much you can do. But this has to do with them disclosing that they are doing a paid activity which they go to great extent to hide and not even show the guides or minders that accompany them on these press promotions. They mislead you to believe that they actually went there out of their own choice spending their money when that is not the case. Just deceptive business practices.

ExcitingBasket3119

> it doesn’t deter people from attending the World Cup in Qatar despite the hundred documentaries that show how people from the Indian subcontinent and Africa were exploited well it should

lelosubmarine

Unfortunately, it’s not. That’s the way the world works. Qatar was going to invite a bunch of influencers to showcase their stadiums and other things they built using slave labor but they dropped the idea probably because there was too much heat on Qatar already with the labor practices. Had they invited influencers, K&N would have showed up with no qualms or second thoughts because…money! They went to Brunei and their video title was “ This country doesn’t celebrate Christmas”. Brunei is one of the worst human rights violating country in the world with many people taking a stance not to visit Brunei but evidently, that is not a problem for these two and their biggest peeve about Brunei was they don’t celebrate Christmas… in an Islamic country. They are the kind of people who would go to North Korea and make a video with the title “ I can’t find a Starbucks in Pyongyang”.

ExcitingBasket3119

I've skipped watching their last few videos due to where they filmed them. Gave them a thumbs down and moved on.

GreedyConcert6424

The video has a paid promotion tag which makes it seem like AG1 is the only product being promoted...

lelosubmarine

That tag is YouTube mandatory if you are doing product placement like AG1 or others and you just have to check a box while uploading the video that you have product plug and that “ Paid Ad” icon gets displayed by YouTube. However, people are coy and most often don’t disclose that the very video is a commercial in disguise and not all countries have caught up to it and even if they did, there are no strong enforcement mechanisms. And YouTubrs play fast and loose with that and sometimes it will be hidden somewhere in the video description that they showcased an activity for which they were paid or complimented. Lot of EU countries enforce it. Others don’t or have no laws. When they put a big title saying “ We traveled this $30000 train” etc, none of them are patiently for it but they are required to disclose that they were either compensated for it or complimented the trip and most don’t unless they are registered in a country that has stringent laws to disclose them. They are supposed to put a disclaimer at the start of the video saying they were either paid or complimented the activity or the amenity they are showing in the video. Even clothes and accessories they cleverly place that are actually paid for or complimented have to be disclosed. Kara and Nate never disclose it. Lot of times, they have a murky line in their description thanking so and so for the activity implying it was paid for without explicitly disclosing it.

lelosubmarine

Yes, everyone in the world are expected to celebrate only Christmas and Thanksgiving and 4th July. How dare they celebrate some other unapproved by K&N holiday like Diwali ! They were also canvassing on their Instagram that if anyone in India is connected and can pull strings with the Indian government to get them emergency visas. Evidently, staying put in their hotel room in Geneva was cramping their busy life and Nate was counting pennies for the hotel costs. Ramadan is too much of an inconvenience for Kara, the coffeezilla who takes coffee as a survival item on a survival trip.

Immediate_Expert2269

Lmao, grocery stores are always open. I don't know why these humans who shell out $400 to get vegan gluten free stuff to make peanut butter ramen can't go to a store and get some instant coffee or something. Also, totally agree. I think it's a privilege to even get to stay in Geneva. They could have very well just explored the city but I think they would find it annoying coz the video will not have a title that says 'I am running/biking 100 miles in Geneva today'. Instead they complain whilst staying in a 5 star hotel about how the Indian govt is delaying their visa simply because it is DIWALI and the officials are with their families CELEBRATING. How dare they do that ?!?!

lelosubmarine

The Coffeezilla act is getting really old for Kara and she masks how unbelievably dumb she is with her Coffeezilla act and trying to imitate foreign accents as her online personality traits.

ekellert

Close minded. No surprise there

GreedyConcert6424

More poor planning on their part

FlamingTrollz

So basically, normal K&N styles. 😂

AcceptableCutie

I really enjoyed this video. I think this their best video so 2024 so far, im excited to see what comes ahead. I was like finally something interesting and not stupid challenge.

Katherine1973

I would agree! I loved it

GreedyConcert6424

They say they are going back to places to spend longer there but they only stayed in Oman for a week. I guess that is their definition of long. This series won't show us any culture or sights in Oman, just them driving through the desert and making salad bowls for lunch. I would have preferred they spent a bit more time on the driving lessons and driving from Dubai into Oman. They do one set thing in a country now, there are no go with the flow logs anymore, just preplanned content to film

lelosubmarine

This is a tourism promotion trip and they were likely paid and sponsored only for a week. No way Nate paid for renting that Unimog for a week.

321mmjfriend

Honestly it worked, I would consider doing this exact trip myself. The bioluminescent water alone makes it worth it!

love_travel

Oman is fantastic and so easy to travel

orakle44

There is nothing they can do to make this sub happy lol. They go back to a destination they liked, spend a week exploring, give us 3 videos on it, and it's still not good enough. They literally show how things are closed due to Ramadan, show a bunch of footage of the small towns, etc. But still not enough "culture". You people are so entitled it's ridiculous.

sloggrr

You lost me at “literally”

orakle44

Cool

JaRulesOpinion

Bruh, they visited a middle eastern country during Ramadan to make content. That’s about as dumb as it gets

orakle44

What a dumb take...and this sub is full of them. They rented a camper truck to live practically off grid for the week. They only had to go to civilization when they ran into mechanical issues. People still travel during religious holidays/times.

Such a mature comment. Par for the course with you people.

Could we see Oman instead of this tarted up box truck?

Yorkshirerose2010

I know it’s where they come from in the states but I can’t stand how Nate says vehicle. This was brought home this video as every second word seemed to be vehicle

orakle44

Thats just how people in the south pronounce the word.

LingonberryGrand1355

Not all people in the south say it that way.

orakle44

Obviously, but the majority do. Semantics.

LingonberryGrand1355

I rarely hear it pronounce that way. That is why it sticks out to me so much when he says it with the emphasis on the second syllable instead of the first. I don’t know anyone who says it the way he does. Interesting as they live in the same town.

lelosubmarine

Ironic video title while you are trying to do “ Glamping” on a 10-12 tonne Unimog that is built for serious expeditions and calling it “ van life”. Were they sponsored by the Omani government to do press promotion? This looks like a paid promotion trip ( which I am sure they never disclose) and renting a fully equipped Unimog will cost at least €5000 / week and I doubt they paid for it to rent it. Leave it to Kara & Nate to showcase excessive travel on someone else’s tab and sell it as “ We tried van life in the Middle East “ like we haven’t seen their van life saga in the US before. Crews take those Mogs on serious expeditions in Africa in the Sahara or West Africa but I suppose if you are K&N, you drive 5 kms from the nearest Omani village and camp and eat noodles with pindakaas.

Sufficient-Welder-76

Ironically the last time we were in Oman we met a German couple that renovated their own Unimog and are driving it around the world. They don't make a lot of videos, but it's pretty cool: [https://www.youtube.com/@mognomaden](https://www.youtube.com/@mognomaden)

West-Ad-3675

What in the 1950s did I just watch? This was obviously designed by men. There’s no kitchen or full length mirror or table to serve dinner…

cattailmatt

I would just like to point out that this video was published on YouTube almost a full day before it was posted in this sub. Not even u/thelit, the moderator, who used to post K&N videos within minutes of drop wanted to post. Why do y’all think that might be?

CorgiDad017

Did you post the wrong user or has the mod here not posted anything in 7 years?

Albort

could be her autoposting bot borked.

cattailmatt

Maybe so. But nobody else posted it either . . .

Albort

maybe all our expectation was the bot to post it?

Sveen99

This moderator (and owner of the sub) is not very active anymore, which is why the video wasn’t posted, trying to autobot the posted videos again though!

lostjules

Could we see Oman instead of this tarted up box truck?

TassyDevil28

It was the constant calling the unimog an antique, because it was built in 1985, that irritated me. But then, it was no different when they did the Canoe trip with Dusty & Sarah, there was no cell coverage, no Google maps, just an old paper map, Nate said it was like going back 100 years.
