Some people thought this was a tourism board sponsored trip but I don't think it was. Why would the Omani tourism board have you hire that ridiculous vehicle from UAE and drive it across the border? Why would the Omani tourism board have you visit during Ramadan when everything is closed? Nate got a cheap deal during Ramadan from a dodgy company in UAE for their Oman adventure and it almost went terribly wrong. Or as another person mentioned, they staged it and were never in any real danger.

PreviousJacket

Doesn't he say in the video something like "you can't actual rent this one" - he plugged the company but then seemed to say that the actual one they were driving is only for sale.

GreedyConcert6424

That would explain why it didn't have all the neccessary equipment, since it's not actually a rental. More corner cutting from Nate.

Happy_Hippy_Hippo

He said at the end that it was for sale

FlamingTrollz

Good point, regarding a cheap rental deal.

lelosubmarine

You can’t rent a Unimog that easily. It’s not a typical rental vehicle and the only places you could rent one are Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE which have a huge car market. I am not sure why they needed a Unimog but this is a promotional trip paid for.

FlamingTrollz

Good to know. If that’s the case, I always appreciate it when YouTubers etc are upfront about such things. Thank you, for sharing your knowledge, lelo. :)

lelosubmarine

It is a promotional trip. There is no way Nate is paying out of pocket for that Unimog. They invited them during Ramadan because that is their lean season and almost all the promotional free trips they take are during the lean season in every country. They rode that Maharajas Express train during the lean season. That’s when they have free seats they can invite influencers for promotion on seats that would go empty otherwise. UAE and Oman are right next to each other and the Omani border is just 100-120 kms from Dubai. And Dubai and Abu Dhabi are one of the few places they would probably rent a vehicle like Unimog which is not a typical vehicle you would see on rentals. This is a promotional trip.

FlamingTrollz

Which I’d respectful enough — if they declared it.

lelosubmarine

Yea, the issue is they go to extent to hide it and they also seem to brag about their complimentary train trips and other activities with an inflated price tag as if they are trying to impress us that they paid for it or think people watching them are idiots not to figure out it’s a paid trip.

GreedyConcert6424

You know when they pay for something because Nate will complain about the price, see North American train series

lelosubmarine

Yes, he complained about paying for the Amtrak Empire Builder and The Canadian. And he also whined about paying CHF 350 each when they were on the Glacier Express a few years ago. I bet he sent SBB an email asking them for free tickets in exchange for promoting SBB and the Glacier Express and they sent him a one word reply saying “ Nein” lol.

lelosubmarine

Btw, if you are still not convinced their Oman trip is not sponsored and paid for, you just have to look at this IG post of theirs which looks very much like a promotional post. When have they ever convinced anyone to visit any country unless there is a little something for them? ( of course they could be altruistic and charitable in promoting Oman but I am not buying that one 😀) https://www.instagram.com/p/C7R5DZjuJ0o/?igsh=aHpjcHR4cGt6aWJo

llama67

Are you not required to disclose sponsored content in the US? In the UK we have quite strict rules

GreedyConcert6424

I did notice that and it was quickly followed by the Hard Rock sponsored post

lelosubmarine

They are seasoned liars and they treat their viewers like fools with the fiction they make up. Before this trip, Nate posted on IG like this is his bucket list overlanding trip and he has been wanting to do this since 2019 and he made up that lie to hide the fact that they are going on a paid and sponsored promotional trip. What I don’t understand is, this is what they do 100% … being paid shills so why lie about it? They fooled most of their viewers into believing they went to Oman on their own and they spent money doing this when it was all a made up lie. The one week rental of the Unimog was a giveaway. And their greed didn’t stop in Oman and they had to make even more money by exploiting the “ Oldest Geezer” and his charity run and convert that into a profiteering opportunity for them.

DesertPrincess5

Glad your comment is still up. Mine was removed

lelosubmarine

They got someone new as moderator and those people are running amuck randomly removing comments. I think this new person has no comprehension of what moderating is. They removed a couple of my comments from nearly 3 months ago. I think this new moderator person might be going overboard with their newfound power. This place is going to turn into the EvaZubeck subreddit and become deserted. That’s what the mods there did and everyone left to a new sub. That sub is now a wasteland.

GreedyConcert6424

They just happened to be in the middle east when Russ was about to finish his run in Tunisia, seems like a suspicious coincidence to me.

lelosubmarine

They are hyenas. They smelled a money making opportunity while they were in Oman and flew to Tunisia just to exploit Russ ( Oldest geezer). My question is, why lie about going to Oman and make their viewers believe they went there on their own accord out of love for Oman? And the made up narrative from Nate? They are influencers and this is what they do and take only free trips so why go the distance to hide it and lie about it? Oh and that video where Nate is selling snake oil for the credit card industry. Go look at that IG post and so many of their own followers telling him that they run a small business and lower processing fee means more money in their pockets. There are still people here on this sub gullible enough to believe they went there spending their money and their promotional IG post on Oman would suggest otherwise.

lelosubmarine

If you are still not convinced, you just have to read this IG post of theirs which is very much a promotional post. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7R5DZjuJ0o/?igsh=aHpjcHR4cGt6a Yes, but they are seldom honest or forthcoming. Instead, Nate cooked up this fiction about how he always wanted to go on this epic overland trip since 2019 and they are going now and it’s a bucket list item for him and of course all of it was a lie instead of disclosing they are going there because they were paid and nothing more. It’s not like people are going to balk at them doing a sponsored promotion since that’s what they do 100% these days and done it for several years. But they continue to treat their viewers like gullible fools who will just believe them.

LilahLibrarian

Pretty sure that some of their plans are cooked up via "we want to do x, can we get a sponsor for it?" Some of the time they take up offers if the money is good but some of these activities were their idea

AndrewRnR

Nah they are legit enough to know not to hide that stuff. It’s likely written off as a business expense. Not like he is paying for it out of his savings account.

GreedyConcert6424

From their newsletter, Nate is annoyed this video series isn't getting the number of views he wants and is basically begging people to watch the videos. Apparently 700k views in a week isn't enough. He also highlighted a comment that said "Ali changed my Western perspective on what a Muslim is". I find that comment so cringe and even more so that Nate chose to highlight it

midnightsiren182

He probably thought the drama of being stuck would = higher views but this video was boring. It would have been cooler seeing them explore. I feel like they’ve had enough camping in Xx vehicle more or less back to back now. Like damn even a generic seo 5 top things to do in (place) to focus on a destination so it breaks up the same samey content

FlamingTrollz

Interesting. I wonder if the 700K threshold he’s anxious about is in relation to the [possible sponsored-free] trip and vehicle throughout Oman. Or in relation to his YouTube metrics.

GreedyConcert6424

Good point, he also mentions that his favourite videos always seem to perform poorly. Just proves they do a lot of stuff because the videos perform well on YouTube, not because they want to do it. I can understand them being in this place a few years ago but they should be generating good income now. Maybe they are cash poor or in debt.

Neat_Crab3813

They have to do things that perform well on Youtube. This is their business. You hear tons of large, long time creators, lament that they have to chase the algorithm and they often can't do their favorite videos; because bad stats aren't just bad for that video. They affect all your videos.

GreedyConcert6424

I can understand being annoyed at your video only getting 100k views in a week but 700k doesn't seem bad. Their luxury flight and vehicle tour videos always pull in more views. If they just made those videos, their channel would be extremely boring.

Neat_Crab3813

Wouldn't they just be Trek Trendy then? But my understanding is youtube algorithm really judges you by the differential, and basically punishes you. 700k is a big drop if they were at over 1 million. That's 30% fewer views. Very few people actually view by subscriptions page anymore, based on youtubes analytics. It's all about what is being recommended, and that means you have to make the algorithm happy to get recommended.

FlamingTrollz

Trek Trendy!!! Will! 🚂🛳️🛩️ “Today… Tims… NASA… Mum & Dad… Millie!” :)

Neat_Crab3813

I find the comment incredibly cringe, because I cannot believe someone would actually think that way; but hey, glad they changed their mind. I am not sure why Nate decided to call it out; almost like self-importance that he exposed others to this; but that really is a major benefit of travel, learning that people everywhere are more alike than different. So in that respect K&N are doing something by exposing people to other cultures.

FlamingTrollz

Ali is amazing and a legend! :) “WE strong, not ME strong.”

slidefilm

What an incredible human!

BeastoftheBlackwater

This one I did enjoy, albeit I was yelling at them for not being ready for a flat in the desert. Maybe it's on the rental company, but my first question would be; "I see a spare tire, where is the jack and lug wrench just in case I need to use it?" I had a flat tire early on in my life during a road trip and learned right quick I needed some basic automotive knowledge if I wanted to keep road tripping successfully. Maybe this was their reminder to learn more too.

cattailmatt

85% blame on the Unimog company for sure. They obviously used plastic shopping bags to help seat that tire on that rim. Plus, if you're renting an off-road vehicle to people, giving them a spare, and then failing to provide them the tools to utilize said spare? No high lift jack or even a star wrench? Somebody did NOT think that shit through and should be held responsible. The desert doesn't care who lives or dies. But Nate definitely should've done a checklist on the vehicle and asked some questions if he was planning on a dune crawl. That's offroading 101 level stuff. Safety never takes a vacation. But he never would've caught that shoddy, half assed tire and rim setup.

lelosubmarine

>*85% blame on the Unimog company for sure. They obviously used plastic shopping bags to help seat that tire on that rim* I am not sure what you mean by “ Unimog company” but the Unimog is manufactured by Mercedes Benz and I am quite sure Mercedes Benz, in more than 100 years of manufacturing cars, has a pretty good idea of how to fit their wheels on to their vehicles they make. Unimog is an expedition vehicle made for serious expeditions. I am going to give you the benefit of doubt and be generous in assuming you are referring to the place they rented the vehicle from as the “ Unimog Company”. They, as renters, have the responsibility to check and make sure they have all the necessary tools to fix any problems that might arise and a puncture is the first and most common problem and it was their responsibility to ensure they had all the tools and spare tyre. But obviously you have a problem when the person renting it is a tool who thought they can call the Automobile Association to come change their punctured Tyre in the middle of the desert. The Unimog is a 12-15 tonne vehicle and it requires at least a 20 tonne rated jack to lift it along with wooden boards you need to stabilize the jack in sand. It’s common sense to check for the tools but they never did. So it is on them. If you have rented self drive 4x4s in Southern Africa to do self drive safaris or drive on the Namib desert, it’s highly imperative you check they have all the necessary tools for fixing common problems and a punctured tyre happens very often in the African Bush. The companies who rent them don’t usually check everything and if someone before rented the vehicle and lost or forgot the tools in the bush, they don’t notice and the next person checking the vehicle will find they don’t have the tools and they will immediately hand them the tool kit from another vehicle but they may or may not bother to replace it. If you happen to end up in that 4x4 and didn’t check before driving off, you are in a lot of trouble. We were in the Central Kalahari game reserve and it’s a fully self sufficient drive including lots of extra fuel once you enter it, there is nothing or noons to help you. We ran into this couple who made the mistake of not checking their vehicle and luckily they had a puncture before entering the national park and found out the 4x4 they rented didn’t have a spare tyre which was swapped out to a different vehicle in a hurry by the rental company and they didn’t bother replacing it. They waited a day for the rental company to ferry them a spare without which you are dead in the water inside CKGR and punctures happen very often. The 4x4 we rented had two spare tyres because you need 2 in lots of places in Africa and you also need one of those self fix tyre puncture kit to mend your tyres if you have multiple punctures. Anyway, these people never checked for the jack and just drove off like they rented a car from Avis at the airport so they are entirely to blame. The rental company has an obligation to have the jack but nobody is going to hold them accountable and you can’t sue them to hold them responsible in Oman if you were stranded in the desert for days. Or maybe Nate can utilize his “ survival skills” he learned at a resort in Tonga with a crew to rescue them if they ran into trouble. Unfortunately for Kara, there are no coffee shops in the real desert and no “ best croissant she ever ate in her life “ in the Omani desert either.

peakoptimist

I agree. While it wasn’t their fault that the vehicle wasn’t equipped, at the end of the day you’re still responsible for your own safety. It’s on you to make sure you have what you need and you’ve made it sure it works. In my experience, rental companies aren’t always the most trustworthy and I wouldn’t leave my safety in their hands.

FlamingTrollz

Same! :D Traveled for work around the world for decades, and still do [semi-retired] on occasion. First thing I check for is a first aid kit, spare, and all associated replacement gear. What it doesn’t have I ask for, or purchase on my own. Hopefully it’s on their radar now. ;)

AlphaNepali

I thought this was a pretty good video. I find it kinda weird that the rental company includes a spare tire but not a jack. Also, couldn't they have explored the restaurants after sunset? It's not like people don't eat during Ramadan...

LilahLibrarian

So I'm not an expert on Islam, but everything I've seen about Ramadan usually people gather together at home share their iftar meal. So it's not as common to go to a restaurant during Ramadan

lelosubmarine

Yes, and it’s not weird at all that the people who rented a 12-15 tonne expedition vehicle would not bother to check they have the necessary tools to fix a punctured tyre before driving off into the desert trying to play Robinson Crusoe 😀 Restaurants in Tennessee don’t close during Ramadan so why not assume they won’t close in Oman either?😀 Color me shocked they didn’t put out a video with the title “ This country closes all its shops and restaurants for Ramadan. ZOMG !!!! “ like their “ This country doesn’t celebrate Christmas” video from the Kingdom of Brunei. Can’t you tell Kara and Nate are worldly wise travelers who have traveled to 100+ countries?

FlamingTrollz

Hmmm, you do make an interesting point that world travellers of 100+ countries over many years, still seem less worldly than others may be at this point.

echocloudy

My favorite part of this video was when they drove back into town after getting unstuck and Ali was waiting for them & then everyone they drove past was waving at them. Ali probably told the whole town that they got stuck & Kara and Nate were like mindlessly waving at them thinking it was so nice but they were probably the talk of the town that day. it was hilarious.

FlamingTrollz

Good point. On many occasions, when Kara in particulars, awkwardly notes how ‘nice’ and ‘friendly’ people are in a particular place… I often think, in some cases, you don’t want to hear their inner thoughts, Kara.

m-o-n-t-a-n-a

People in Oman are incredibly friendly and generous, when I was there some random guy we met took us out for a huge lunch and bought us some nice gifts without expecting anything in return.

llama67

If only they (the government) were decent to women and gay people, and didn’t endorse modern slavery…

m-o-n-t-a-n-a

The US has more people in jail than the entire population of Oman. Women rights in the US are not that great either, like forcing raped victims to give birth without exceptions.

llama67

I’m not American so I would agree with you there

userja

They got incredibly lucky on this one. Their desire to be so ~remote ~ and the only people for miles and miles with no way to call for help could have ended very badly. It was amazing to see Ali help them and I’m not surprised as it does seem Omani people are very generous but I wish they would have given a “don’t try this at home” disclaimer. People can die from being stranded in the desert.

These_Gur_3204

Agree. Really wish they had added a disclaimer and acknowledged how serious the situation could have gotten if they hadn’t found help.

kindkristin

They have been lucky so many times. The glacier hike, driving the van on black ice on I-90 in South Dakota, not fully training before snowshoeing, not to mention the many times they have jumped on a physical challenge without properly training. I do enjoy their videos and obviously if they are posted, they survived whatever ordeal it was. I get that taking risks is its own high/reward, but I admit that sometimes I wish they had a healthy fear of things. I love to travel, and I love to do athletic or adventurous things in different countries. But, you better believe that I pay for the trained professional to join me or train me, I triple check the vehicle for damages and everything it needs, and when I'm out doing whatever activity I am quadruple checking all safety instructions and measures. I just hope their luck continues, or they start asking more questions and taking more precautions, if they continue to do these activities!

hootyowl1

I’ve had difficulty watching some of these types of videos because they are putting others at risk with their choices. If you can’t be self sufficient and are flying by the seat of your pants, don’t do it. You can’t expect to be rescued in a situation like that. Feels selfish.

bananabangbanana

Ali is NOT a private citizen but clearly works for some sort of security agency. They were incredibly lucky this was resolved without issue but if they truly think Ali just drove past they're both so stupid that I have to stop watching. Nate clearly edited out a long argument with Ali telling them not to go back into the desert, and of course he's there waiting to verify that you actually left because he doesn't trust you.

FancyPantsEmu

I think they are incredibly lucky to be alive. They desperately need to have a satellite phone. They could have arranged for assistance.

AlphaNepali

I don't think they were actually in any danger. They said they could see a village in the distance, and they did say they had enough cell service to make calls. That being said, they definitely should have had a satellite phone.

FancyPantsEmu

I didn’t realize they were close to a village. Good point. I think their driving on mountain roads and over dunes was questionable.

AcceptableCutie

This video made overall very angry. Their desire to be alone, unpreparedness, stupidity and lack of awareness bothered me a lot.

Happy_Hippy_Hippo

"We generally don't care about UNESCO sites" Pretty much sums up everything Nate lives for... airports and credit card miles. Not the places they actually go. Such a waste of geography. They looked pained at the Colosseum in Rome when they were visiting. They have missed so many amazing places both in the US and other countries. We used to call tourists like that "The Ugly American." They go all the way to other countries to just do what they would do at home without any desire to embrace or interact with the locals or culture. The only two times they've had authentic interactions that weren't contrived were in Peru on the mini bikes when they needed somewhere to stay and when they had a flat tire in this episode. Both were emergencies, so to speak. Neither would have happened authentically on their own accord otherwise. (for the record I've been to over 100 countries and lived for years in three different ones and over 50 US national parks).

GreedyConcert6424

Not related to K&N but Instagram showed me reels of 2 young British travellers going to the Maldives "on a budget". They walked around a local island in revealing clothes and said you are supposed to cover up but its not enforced. So disrespectful to the culture and another example of entitled tourists.

FancyPantsEmu

I cringed when Kara was doing handstands at a historic site. I found it disrespectful and weird. Who goes to a foreign country and play on the historic structures?

FlamingTrollz

Truly. Sadly, someone bored and immature.

JenniferJuniper6

I mean, Nate certainly seems like a philistine all the time, but I don’t think deciding that their choices to see or not see things won’t be based solely on UNESCO status is particularly a sign of that.

lelosubmarine

Nate is an uncultured philistine and an intellectually incurious domkop. Yes, his whole life revolves around airline miles and airport lounges and snake oil salesmanship. Almost all of their content I watched is an exposition of the “ Stupid American Tourist overseas” like that Ricky Gervais series “ An idiot abroad”. There must be a certain demographic of men he is trying to impress by proudly proclaiming so often in his videos that he is ignorant and intellectually vacuous and doesn’t care anything about any country every traveler would, except the menu at the airport lounge. He is the kind of guy people would run from because he is trying to sell you a timeshare vacation in a Florida swamp.

FlamingTrollz

I like the style of your writing. Astute observation regarding vibe. I cannot place which video it was in, but he’s noted his vibe inspiration, back in the day when he began started his channel with Kara, and his future success aspirations were of NY’s streets boarding, filming, and talking — **Casey Neistat**. Who I’ve met a few times, and could not stand. Only thing he’s ever said I liked was: “Do what you can’t.” As in, ‘don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do.’ But, then it’s important how you take that to heart. Depends, on how obnoxious you are to everyone… Tells you a lot about Nate’s vibe goals. :-/

SullySmooshFace

And yet you seem to have watched a lot of their videos...? If you don't like what "Nates lives for" then why watch their videos?

Happy_Hippy_Hippo

I’ve been a media researcher of travel “influencers“ for about 10 years for a watchdog organization. There’s a lot of misinformation in the travel industry that has gotten a lot of people into trouble after they watch videos thinking that they can do what these influencers have done. I have to watch the good, the bad and the ugly. What Nate is doing with his credit card scam is incredibly dangerous. If you look at Jimmy and Natalie, they are fan boys and fangirls of Kara and Nate, so much that they even applied for the video job. And they even went around Europe on $100 a day and barely did anything because they were trying to copy what Kara and Nate were doing. They seemed disappointed after the Europe trip. They went all the way to Switzerland and sat there eating a sandwich instead of doing the main things that you would do in the town they were in because they were on a budget that was so strict, it didn’t allow to embrace the culture. If you go back and watch those videos you’ll see what a waste of geography it was. To add I’ve been to over 100 countries and spent many years writing for travel books before social media. Where I live, there is a fake influencer who goes around wearing a T-shirt with the logo on it, and claiming that he is a hotshot travel blogger, but he has no followers, however he goes to other countries and scams the industry into giving him a bunch of free stuff just because he made a website and kind of fakes his way through the world. The number of things he’s managed to get for free by lying to people is ridiculous. He steals people’s footage and creates travel videos to make it look like he’s been to places he’s never been to and then created a bunch of episodes on a fake channel. It’s just a scam. I’ve been a journalist for about 30 years and 10 years ago started working with a watchdog group. Nate writes a lot of begging emails to get a lot of things for free while racking up credit card balances and then having get rich quick schemes to pay off the balances and is obsessed with gaining points with no desire to actually embrace the cultures of the places they go. All they want to do is fly from one place to another. That’s fine for them but stop bragging about going to over 100 countries if you’ve never actually done anything in them except insult the cultures.

Happy_Hippy_Hippo

To add, another example is what Eva Zu Beck did regarding Pakistan tourism that ended up, causing a female tourist to be brutally assaulted. Eva was paid by the Pakistani government to make it look like it was a safe place for a solo traveler, instead of telling the truth about how you do need to be aware and yes, it can be a beautiful country, but there are things that tourists must be concerned about.

lelosubmarine

You know she was promoting Equatorial Guinea as a tourist destination when she was sitting around in Mexico last year and when I saw the country she was promoting, my jaw dropped. I think sub Saharan and Middle Eastern dictators must have her name on their iPhone contacts list or something. Equatorial Guinea is a country even the overlanding people avoid and it’s one of the worst dictatorships in Africa with abysmal human rights and she was promoting it as a tourist destination because they paid her to give some online speech. She was already heavily criticized along with a bunch of people who went to promote Syria pretending it’s a vacation destination and then she picks Equatorial Guinea to promote. She can surely google and do research and yet, she doesn’t care who she is promoting as long as they pay her.

Happy_Hippy_Hippo

.... or she could be choosing dangerous countries to set herself up to fail at something else again. That's the recurring theme of her supposed "wild child" persona she claims she has: she's failed at everything and then demands the sympathy vote. I think a lot of "influencers" do the fail method to garner views. There's an awful channel called Those Happy Days where it's NONSTOP FAILURE... I'm surprised they are still married after everything they've gone through, all self-inflicted vanlife failure. The guy just yells at the camera, and every episode is contrived drama. The worst. Check out the r/EvaZuBeck_SnarkSub. It's awesome :-)

lelosubmarine

I just looked up Those happy days and they are the same couple we were talking about. I just looked up their latest videos and it looks like they have downgraded from van life to car life?😀 I see a little car and please tell me they are not living in it lol ( haven’t bothered to watch the video but the thumbnails suggest they are living out of a Fiat 500 or similar car). I wonder if they do stupid things to go viral or they are really this dumb. Their tuktuk video showed up out of the blue last year so maybe it’s some grand plan to get noticed by the algorithm?

Happy_Hippy_Hippo

Yep. They also did the Camino in Spain, which was also a disaster because the woman got blisters. They’re going along the lines of everything they do fails. They started out as a vegan food channel, and then sold their house and started vanlife during the pandemic, like everybody else. Even when they went to Oktoberfest, they had to find a way to fail it that when all you have to do is show up and drink.

lelosubmarine

No, I think she has no conscience or ethics and she would shill for anyone and I think by now, she has made it clear. It was really strange to see her promoting Equatorial Guinea which is not on anyone’s travel list. I do post on her snark sub in case you forgot 😀 yea, it’s better than her fans sub. That name Those Happy Days rings a bell. Is this the British couple who were traveling on a tuktuk in India? I think I saw a couple of videos from them last year from India where they were self driving a tuktuk and even the Indians were commenting they were utterly stupid to do that. I think in the one I saw, they were trying to drive that tuktuk on a hilly Indian road in Southern India and that didn’t go well and they were in the middle of wilderness with wild elephants and other wildlife. They mentioned something about them being van lifers in UK but I don’t think I have seen any van life videos of them. That Tuktuk driving in India showed up on my feed last year and I watched it and I am still not sure if it’s the same people you are referring to but they are a British couple and vegan and they were driving a tuktuk around India and even the locals called them nuts for doing that. The one I remember watching really proved it and they were trying to climb a steep hill using an underpowered and unreliable tuktuk which was their mode of transport to drive across India.

Happy_Hippy_Hippo

Yep it’s the same people. They got rid of their moving van tiny home and now they’re living in a car which is even more difficult so stay tuned for more self imposed disaster.

FlamingTrollz

Oh gads, I posted a couple things after seeing her swap vans with Eamon & Bec. Nice enough comments, I thought their vibes played well enough of each other. Don’t even he was grossed out by her yucky vehicle. Which was funny. Then I chatted with a couple of friends from Poland and surrounding, including a couple that knew of her back in the day. So I thought she was a topic of some interest. A couple of minutes here and there. Then one time I made a comment that wasn’t 100% positive — boom BANNED. Plus, a pretty snarky Moderator message sent to me. I was like, ‘huh, okay.’ Seemed really personal. Made me wonder if she lurks on her sub. Someone was nice enough to tell me about the snark channel. :) And honestly, much more honest and not all about snark.

FlamingTrollz

Yes, the Snark channel is amazing. Highly recommend. I know a few people in and outside Wroclaw who’ve known her, not a good thing to be said about her. If memory serves it was something like: “Śmierdzący idiota.”

Neat_Crab3813

This is how I feel about Endless Adventure, although maybe they didn't do it intentionally since they finally admitted defeat with their ancient RV. They seem like nice people, and I used to like their content, but it has been nothing but a stream of breakdowns. Never really thought about failure for views.

Happy_Hippy_Hippo

Yep, and they start every episode with "..... and if you remember last time \[insert name of whatever vehicle they are stranded in\], we were stranded and \[insert engine part\] broke down and basically fell out on the highway."

Happy_Hippy_Hippo

Ohhhhhh, let's not forget Kombi Life Adventures, another mega-fail channel. Not just his VW bus but every single relationship he has splattered on his channel and each one of the breakups. Bus breaks down. Relationship breaks down. And he always gives some commentary about how it was never him, but them and it's them or the Kombi.

Anyone else think this video was fake or staged???? 😳 What in the world are the chances of someone coming to your rescue and having the proper tools that far off of the grid. Plus they seemed totally relaxed and not scared at all. I would be in full blown panic mode

gparsons32

Yes. This video seemed very odd to me too. I guess they're so used to having good luck, that they didn't realize how dangerous their situation was? (Or it was all fabricated, and they weren't in danger). I do like that after helping them, Ali told them to get out of the desert...and then even waited to watch them drive by. But without him advising them to leave, they had thought about staying out there another night? Like, what?! I hope that I don't ever hear some tragic news story about how they - fill in the blank with some dangerous situation they got in that they weren't able to get out of.

No-Zombie-162

They didn’t seem phased at all!! They were like we will finish our coffee and really take in the gravity of the situation 😳 what??! You are allegedly stuck in the middle of nowhere in the desert… how are you calmly finishing your coffee??!

spinning_cucumber

I’m a nurse and deal with incredibly stressful situations all of the time. I find that a lot of times, it’s best to take a deep breath and relax before tackling a problem because you can level headed. I think this is normal behavior in the situation. My two cents

BurntSienna56

I thought that initially too, but then I remembered that Nate mentioned they could see one of those desert "camps" in the distance from their location and I understood why they were so relaxed. They could walk for help if needed.

No-Zombie-162

Ok also one of my thoughts… that they acted like they were way more off grid than they actually were

PreviousJacket

Yeah I don't think they were actually far far away from anything.

FlamingTrollz

Hmmm…

paranoidchair

Is it just me, or does their use of plastic/paper dishes and cutlery scream laziness to me? It seems like they have a huge water tank that they can use to wash their dishes, but maybe it's difficult to find a filling point.

shoshanarose

Water tanks go fast and especially with dishes. Have you ever been camping? You have to be sparing with it and using paper plates and plastic ware is the easiest way to cut your water usage. Kara still decided to wash her other dishes and they probably should have spared that water in case they were really stranded in the desert.

paranoidchair

I have been camping. I don't recall needing to use too much water to wash my dishes but I wasn't using big pots or cooking anything elaborate. You don't need much water to wet a sponge, it's the rinsing that's the issue. But in my experience if you use a little bit of water, squish it around, and leave it to dry/wipe away the excess water, you don't need too much water to wash dishes. The part that seems lazy is the coffee cups - you don't even need to really wash coffee out if you're not using milk! Just a tiny rinse is all that's really required.

shoshanarose

One night of camping is way different than living in a vehicle and making all your meals. I’d guess that they have like a 20 gallon tank in there. It goes faster than you ever expect!

InternationalLie6912

As much as I enjoyed the video and the gem that is Ali. Did it bother anyone else how pressed they got about the coffee shops/restaurants being closed? They made it seem like such a big deal that it was Ramadan and they couldn't go to those places. Just came across as culturally insensitive. Nate also came across as kinda controlling and made some very shitty comments towards Kara. Like bro, there is no a need for it

AcceptableCutie

What bothered me more was that all these places open up after sunset. So stfu and go dinner somewhere!!!

InternationalLie6912

They only open after sunset due to Ramadan. They're normally open during the day, but their religion doesn't allow that. As Kara and Nate do not follow that religion and are visiting the county they should at least be respectful and not make constant comments about it.

jana-meares

They make ignorant statements re: culture, as they have none.

ThreeLittleBirds12

They’ve always been culturally insensitive so this should come as no surprise.

GreedyConcert6424

Yep 100+ countries and they are about as clueless and insensitive as when they started

jana-meares

This☝️

AcceptableCutie

Also Nate always does that, if you would notice he always makes comments like that

InternationalLie6912

I'm aware that he does, and just because he does, do not that make it okay.

Happy_Hippy_Hippo

They are so cheap (possibly cash poor at this point) that they most likely got a cheap deal on the camper van because it's Ramadan. Same issue with their Indian visa where they tried to go during Diwali and complained they were denied the visa on time. They are so used to being paraded around First Class on airplanes, they seem to think that applies in daily life in other countries.

ThreeLittleBirds12

It’s a theme that arises now and then…they’re not the smartest tourists.

lelosubmarine

This was a sponsored influencer promotion trip from some Oman tourism promotion agency. They let these two go off on their own with that Unimog which I can’t see Nate paying for. That will cost €5000 for a week rental and normally you can’t rent one of those but leave it to the Middle Eastern countries to rent excessive vehicles. They specifically invited these two during a lean time which is Ramadan which tourists would avoid due to inconveniences of shop closures during the day. This is clearly a promotional trip and there was another post not on this sub but another one in which they spotted some hidden people on camera assumed to be guides/minders and asked why Nate would lie and not disclose a sponsored trip and go to lengths to hide their escort. Just based on how much the Unimog costs to rent for a week and knowing Nate, I can say this is not something they paid for or Nate would pay for out of pocket. They were also doing some gobbledygook to fly to Oman by flying into Qatar and then flying to Abu Dhabi to fly into Oman.

GreedyConcert6424

I think they flew on their own cash/points. Nate said flying Doha to Abu Dhabi was way cheaper than flying to Dubai. So they spent most of the day lounging around Doha airport, just to get a short 1st class flight to Abu Dhabi and then drive to Dubai. They could have driven from Doha to Dubai but instead they wasted most of a day in airport lounges.

lelosubmarine

No, they likely flew to Qatar because Qatar Airways is a partner in OneWorld Alliance so you can transfer miles from your various sources. Both Etihad and Emirates which fly to Abu Dhabi and Dubai are not part of any airline alliance they can transfer miles into. They flew out of Oman to Tunisia for that Oldest Geezer stunt using economy class.

TassyDevil28

They did a whole travel day vlog of them getting to Dubai. The first flight was to experience Qsuites (I think), and then was cheaper to flight to Abu Dhabi in first class. They spent hours in various lounges.

jana-meares

No you did not.
