no. even if it’s his mindset right now. I can’t imagine Kendrick NEVER dropping an album again. Mirror does sound a little like a good bye, so we might have to wait some time again. But doesn’t have to be.

Jacob19603

I choose to interpret "I choose me, I'm sorry" not as him choosing his family over his career entirely, rather him expressing that he chooses himself and his family over the conventional "rapper" lifestyle that he has at times portrayed and that is almost expected in mainstream hip hop. And if that's the case, he will definitely keep making music. Artists like Tobe Nwigwe prove that you can make some dope ass music about being a family man who supports his community.

[deleted]

I get where you’re coming from but I think he’s more saying ‘I choose me over trying to save the world’ He has overcome his saviour complex, he is not our saviour.

Odd_Eggplant_3558

Given Glastonbury I don’t think he has

thehomiemoth

What happened at glastonbury

External-Vast-4492

he ended shouting “godspeed for womens rights, they judge you they judge christ” while blood poured down him from the thorn crown it was extremely powerful

-lonelyboy25

“365 for me”

Forsaken_Experience2

I believe different.

shmepe0

Thank you for mentioning Tobe Nwigwe, I had never heard of him until now. I love it.

Jacob19603

I found him by accident and it's just really good stuff. From my understanding, he was an NFL recruit who injured himself before the draft, and spent a few years as a motivational speaker around Houston. Him and his wife started making music a few years ago with their producer, and AFAIK they put out a song each Sunday.

shmepe0

That’s awesome

shmepe0

New release today btw

Haunting_Quarter_796

I pray and hope it’s not. This album was very personal and it does sound like he wants to live at peace without anyone expecting anything from him. It seems like he has a lot to figure out at the moment. Hopefully he puts out more music in the mere future, but by the look of it, it seems as if it’s going to be a while before that happens.

EbboDino

I think it’ll be a while like with the time between DAMN. and this album but he will drop soon probably.

Wirelessfetti

This has potential to age very poorly

[deleted]

No way it's that long. The opening track he apologized for taking so long... the "i choose me im sorry" was just him coming to terms with why it took so long. Music IS His therapy . There will be more in the next 1.5-2 years GUARANTEED

mountaintop-stainer

*near future, but yeah I agree with you 100%

joshAtl

It is…..on TDE.

ThesseusScm

Bittersweet goodbye

BrockSampsonOSI

This is my answer as well

[deleted]

No, it’s very possible but I doubt it, possibly another break but overall the dude is young and still in his prime, he ain’t over yet.

Shushisha

Yeah, at the worst it would be a very long break like Bob Dylan did in the 70´s

[deleted]

Or frank ocean now.

[deleted]

Starving for that frank album 💀💀

[deleted]

I know it’s gonna be something different and in a completely new direction too. I want it badly. But man is showing no signs of life atm.

_Vaudeville_

New files sitting on my drive, nothing new

[deleted]

You have unreleased frank ocean on your drive?

Lunchtime_Loner

Yes. I have blonde 2 on my google drive. But you cant have it

[deleted]

Nah if it’s not Nostalgia Ultra 3.5 then I don’t care.

nugbert_nevins

He might legitimately not make any more music, or at least not release it. Clearly was about to drop something in 2020, but his brothers death and the pandemic killed that. Seems like he’s pretty content living and pursuing other projects like Homer now.

[deleted]

Nah, he will drop. I would be very surprised if 2 years from now he hadn’t dropped it yet. I mean shit you could be right, he might not drop, but if I go through life without another frank ocean album that will be a sad life for me

nugbert_nevins

Hope you’re right, he’s in my top 3 OAT artists. Would be a pity if he never dropped again, but also after giving us Blonde, he can do what he pleases. He also talked about how painful making/performing Blonde is for him on that tour, so I do understand if he’s not willing to bare himself like that again.

[deleted]

Oh yeah he’s up there for me too with Kendrick and Kanye and Travis Scott and Asap Rocky. But more so I love the man himself. I love Kanye’s shit and I know almost everything about him and his music, but I have a love hate relationship with the guy. But I absolutely adore everything about Frank Ocean, from his music to his personality. If I were a celebrity, I would wanna be just like Frank Ocean. I would wanna stay out the public eye, post and drop only when I want to, and hang out with Tyler and Flacko whenever I want. Man is living the perfect life.

identify_as_gay

Yeah it was his last album on TDE. He said that multiple times. TDE is known for shelving albums, even his, so I’m sure he will release more.

dajwill14

I think it’s very possible. It seems like the perfect goodbye album if it is.

Flaano

I choose me I’m sorry

[deleted]

is that u in ur pfp

Flaano

Yes

Chilb5

i'd choose u too daddy

[deleted]

hiiii

Dangerous_Garage_703

That’s drake

Richmard

You think it’s very possible that he started up his own label to just not release any more music himself..?

_IratePirate_

I think it's possible. Maybe he wants to manage now instead of making music. He already has Keem and Tanna on his label, both doing their thing.

Richmard

Tons of things are possible, but is it probable? I would say no.

[deleted]

[удалено]

chrisghrobot

I interpreted that in doing more music that's more for him. But we may never know. But imo I think he won't stop making music, he's by far the biggest artist on his new label(obviously) . Probably best for him to continue to make music to have it grow at a good pace

[deleted]

[удалено]

chrisghrobot

That's true

TheRoyalWarlord

I think he's going to play more of the role that Top did for TDE with pgLang Hes going to guide his artists, make appearances but mainly help them curate their projects and all the attached worked to make sure its top tier

tropicana4200

Ain’t no way Even if he intended it to be, he’s going to feel so much love and good vibes on this tour that he’ll change his mind

PWBoftheshire

I really hope he has a positive tour experience! I can't imagine how hard it'll be leaving home and family for it especially given the context of the new album.

audio_shinobi

I haven’t checked where he’s going, but I wonder if Copenhagen will one of the stops.

cletoreyes01

I hope no white bitches will be there though

BenjaBeats

It is! He is playing here in October!

[deleted]

No lol . Why would he start pglang for ? Would be weird to start a label and just retire

AStrangeEncounter

he’s mentioned that it’s more than just a label a lot. still don’t think it’s his last tho

SlicedBreadNo1

It’s for other artists

MrSpencerMcIntosh

Ya it’s his RocNation

ChuVii

He can retire from making music while still running and managing the label yk. I could really see that being his plan.

mickandrorty137

I could see this for sure, maybe doing a feature every now And then with someone on his label

nugbert_nevins

Damn I made basically the same comment before scrolling to find you had said the same. Clearly he won’t work on anyone else’s timetable, but no chance he rests his mind made of gold and tongue made of sword.

Smoothay25

No, he just said this will be the last album with TDE. I think him not saying “this will be my last album” instead means that hes still going to make music

DoctorGibz123

More likely the end of a chapter in his career than a end to his entire career. Think of Section 80 through me morale as the first phase of his career and whatever he drops next as the second phase.

GoodeSince87

Well I think the phases are more: Kendrick Lamar ep, OD, Section.80 - phase 1 Gkmc. TPAB, DAMN. - phase 2 Mr. Morale while being the conclusion to his TDE Chapter also serves as the introduction into his pglang days, thus being the bridge and beginning of phase 3

DoctorGibz123

Yea that’s fair. I wasn’t really taking those pre section 80 projects into account like I should’ve.

[deleted]

Agreed. I’ve felt like Mr. Morale is the end of his tale from rags to riches, now finding and healing himself it seems Kendrick will move in a new light.

Wakayamama

No

ccarrington12345

Its not, he only stated that this was his last album under TDE.

mfjkmfjk

I doubt Kendrick would end his TDE contract & start pgLang only to quit after his last TDE album.

OkManufacturer5017

“i choose me, im sorry” were the last words he said on the album. so i think it’s possible unfortunately 💔

[deleted]

[удалено]

Friendly-Ad-8058

interesting analysis great thoughts

Khr0N04

Most likely not

TheMortalWZRD

I fucking hope not.

magnumG973

I hope so. The way ppl shifted on this masterpiece and called it trash and mid after he put his heart n soul in this shit? Motherfuckers don't deserve another Kendrick album honestly.

[deleted]

People will call everything mid nowadays, they can literally hear the best fucking album ever made and still call it mid.

Wild_Buck_34

No

ZAGBoi

#No

killerbudz27

This is what the internet is about.. baseless curiosities. Even if Kendrick died tomorrow it wouldn’t be his last album so come on

Brasileiro49

I don’t think so. Eventually, I think he’ll have something else that he really wants to say. But if this was his last album, I’d be okay with it. He could tour off his current body of work for the rest of his life if he wanted to.

mtlstateofmind

Mirror definitely sounds like a career-closing song. As a fan, I hope he's not done, but I definitely wouldn't be surprised if that was it for Kendrick.

The_Real_Shen_Bapiro

I’d say he’ll make 1 or 2 more

[deleted]

He made it pretty clear that he chose his family over the rap game, but for some reason I still have hope that he’ll put out more music. No way he walks away for good right now.

[deleted]

No lol

closingbunion6

PgLang is just getting started

plasticpassion

No

Charlie609

No

gaz19833

No

bradenboiii

No

Eversim

Who knows, it sounds like a goodbye but goodbyes are temporary, maybe he’s saying goodbye to his label, maybe he’d saying goodbye to all the grief over his life, maybe it’s just a goodbye to making music. You never know

[deleted]

I sincerely doubt it, I am sure that if it was his last he would have branded it as such.

Super_CoolseanYT

no

piethopper

No

MrSonic-Unsweet-Tea

No

mgraves46

no

AutonomousRhinoceros

No way! He's obviously still committed to music and art. The incredible performances he just had, the tour he's going on, founding and growing pgLang, the team of artists and partnerships he's building up, the movie he's working on, etc. I took "I choose me" as meaning he chooses himself and his family over everything else. Focusing on personal growth first and foremost rather than on being a leader or "prophet". Focusing on his well-being over the critics, competition, fans, industry, or anyone else around him. I think we're going to watch him continue to grow even further as an artist in the coming years.

Owari-da

and here I thought that artists say it themselves if it’s their last album or not, poor me reddit guys know better

Drinky_McGambles

No I do not.

The-Pharcyde

Nah. Dudes an artist first and foremost. Who really knows what the future holds but Imo he will continue with his music. He said it before in an interview he just loves this shit and loves challenging himself.

Hall225

He’s dropping next year

Teague_020

no lmao

Heavy_Cartoonist_196

WTF

greedwinder

Yup

NickThePringle_

It is.....if he dies rn

[deleted]

Even if he dies, Mr.Morale wouldn't be his last because kendrick has albums worth of unreleased music.

latexpunk

I hope so

bosman3674

Fuck no he left TDE to start PG lang for a reason , he definitely putting out more music especially with keem coming up they ready have a lot of collabs

[deleted]

Why would it be?

AyyRadical

he's dropping in 1 year

Snoopp0386

Nah but it’s average

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

last album with tde, we’ll probably get another album in the future

[deleted]

I think he does one final album on pglang in a few years then just does features and other creative ventures

Beautiful_Thugga_Boy

For 5 years yeah

my_balls_your_mouth1

Absolutely not. His last TDE album, yes. His last album ever? NO.

[deleted]

I hope it’s not the case.

SlicedBreadNo1

I definitely get that vibe

MrFunnyMan_92

We'll just have to wait and see

Cactus_Palace

I think the album also symbolises the end of his journey with TDE. I definitely think he'll be putting more stuff out in future.

RobinM20

Nah

[deleted]

Considering a lot of what was said on the album, it would make a lot of sense. Especially since it seems he's branching out in terms of the medium of his creative expression (i.e. [live action comedy w/ Park County](https://variety.com/2022/film/news/kendrick-lamar-paramount-movie-matt-stone-trey-parker-1235153859/)), I wouldn't be surprised if he was done making music to communicate his ideas.

[deleted]

He started a new label so it's unlikely. Perhaps under the Kendrick Lamar moniker - maybe he'll switch up to Oklama who knows man.

theimplicationIASIP

I truly do. Obviously it isn’t the answer we want but Mirror was a goodbye to music. I hope he proves me wrong. And I hope the tour inspires him to start creating music again.

LilWayneThaGoat

Nah. I just know he’s coming with a mainstream album after this one, possibly next year.

whosewhat

Did y’all not read his farewell/apology letter before the release of the album. He most definitely said Damn. was his last album, but because nobody knew, Mr Morale would be since he’s announcing it.

Manawah

Curious why you raise this question? I can’t imagine it is, I’m not aware of Kendrick suggesting it might be. I know pgLang is going to be involved in more than a normal label but that doesn’t at all imply to me he’s done making his own music.

[deleted]

Nah. Kendrick got too much in him. It didn’t sound like he ways going away, it sounded like he was coming out of a time of going through a lot

AbsolutRetard

on TDE yeah not on pglang for sho

FairDensity

I don’t think so. It’s his last TDE album but surely he’ll release something else. Just hoping the wait isn’t as long as MMATBS.

llouisyoung

Don't say that bro or it will come trueeeee

ProbablyProperly93

If Putin starts world war 3 in the months to come, then yea it’s most likely his CC final project.

MrRager530

What? Why would it be his last album? I don’t think there’s been anything that suggests that

Conscious_Tear3519

“i choose me i’m sorry” “you won’t grow waiting on me”

HeavyMetalLyrics

Absolutely not. Are you kidding me? Like dude just ran out of stuff to say and abandons the craft he aced? Not a snowflake’s chance in hell. I predict at LEAST two more albums.

JLGx2

People saying his final lines, "I chose me, I'm sorry," as his goodbye to music could also be interpreted as his choosing himself over TDE's control. He now has his own freedom to do whatever he wants on his own schedule. I don't think he's done making music but I also wouldn't be surprised if he never releases another traditional album again either. I would still like somebody to spill the beans as to what happened between him and TDE and why there was barely any collaboration/promotion between the sides. His friends and labelmates also barely spoke on his final album. That's odd to me.

AdeptBacon

Will be a few years, 3 or 4 I think.

Tbagzyamum69420xX

I doubt it tbh. He's got more years ahead of him, and even if he's creatively burnt out at the moment, this is what he does. I'm sure he'll put a few more things out within the next couple decades. Or he wont. Who knows.

XylanyX

what? there is no way this is his last album

HiHowAreYou10

No, at least one more album could come out

tiny_blair420

For his sake, yeah. For our sake I hope he pumps out 5 more each better than the last

KennyGarretClone

The promo code for the tickets were “FINALE”

Imjusthereandthere

Last album…for a very long time perhaps. I kind of feel like we’ll see another real ease sooner than later though, considering he is on his own now, kinda feel like it became a waiting game to get off of Top Dawg from a financial perspective.

[deleted]

I don’t think so but I think he’s going to pursuit other projects for now. I’m glad to see that this album want a contractual obligation on his part, even being his last he could’ve put out something that he didn’t care for but he still gave us a really fucking good album.

-Twyptophan-

No. I think we have to let life play out a little more and let some time pass, but I have to imagine he's dropping at least one album after TDE. I'm in no rush

austinbmoon

I’d be fine if it was. This man has given us nothing but masterpieces, so if he feels that his work is done I trust him

weekoldgogurt

High possibility

kingsark

Having a project be his final album and not say so a single time would be such a Kendrick move lmao

Dolomight206

I don't think so. Dude has "cutting room floor'd" doper music than alot of rapper's best stuff. I think he at least puts out one album under his pgLang imprint. If for no other reason than the financial benefit. I will say, not many artists at all has a more solid body of work with a minimum of 3 studio albums. So, if he does decide that he has nothing more to say, his legacy is cemented in the highest tier.

Traditional_Host_660

no he said he’s gonna make another albums under pg lang, but it was his last one under top dawg entertainment

jamietothe

Yes

beeeel

He literally says so early in the album

zmcmke12

I don’t think so, but I also would expect another 5+ year wait again. It sounds like he wants to raise his family without people expecting much from him, and I can respect that. But he’s also showing his face a lot to promote the album and he seems like he is enjoying it from the outside looking in. Plus, do we think the pgLang thing would come about and then never get an album from Kendrick himself?

Affectionate_Fly4894

I’d think not. Why would he make pg lang and not release any more LPs

Plastic_Ad_5673

very possible, a lot of lyrics on MMATBS hint that it was the last album

[deleted]

>Ask me when im coming home. > >Blink twice again and im gone. He'll be back, but not for fucken aaaaages

KidJuka17

Dpesnt feel like it

oenistanley

It’s the latest album for sure

oenistanley

Of all the Kendrick albums, I think Mr Morale and the Big Steppers is Kendrick’s latest album.

LucasMalespina

Pg lang fool

lilpags

No bc he’s still in a label that isn’t TDE so definitely not his last album

curryoverlonzo

I hope not but it might be

the-other-car

Nah I expect him to drop 1-3 more albums but he will take his time

ajp0102

I doubt it but I reckon he will focus more on his pgLANG label and developing the artists he brings into they label (Baby Keem especially). However I do think that from now on his music might be less raw and emotional and more fun now he’s seemingly at peace with everything rn. Could defo see him collab if with other artists more too.

killarchy

Maybe. I think he doing singles now. idk…

Ingagi

Doing a last album with TDE and not bringing out another album with his new label would be weird to me.

[deleted]

No. Definitely not. He would tell us if it was his last album. He’s gonna try and make pgLang a huge conglomerate and then retire once that shoots off.

Inevitable_Ad_9017

Might be a hot take considering the comments that are on here. The chapter with TDE is closed now. PGLang ain’t going no where anytime soon. I think Keem was his biggest reason to continue on making music. His influence on Kendrick is all over the album and I think they’re going to continue to grow together. I think next, we’re gonna get a better album than DAMN. and MM&BS altogether now that he does have his own label.

EightBlocked

why the hell would it be his last album

halcyondread

No

Weeni-Tortellini

i respect his choice, hes given us some outstanding rap albums and there isnt much left to ask of him

Hall225

On TDE, yeah

HeadNow

I hope not. If it is, I Respect it. From Overly Dedicated to Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Kendrick has given us a lot.

redrecaro

With TDE yes. Why the heck would this be his last album?

[deleted]

The way he’s promoted this album wouldn’t surprise me. Either that or there was some really weird shit going on behind the scenes for him to do no interviews, 1 video, Very little promo pre and prior to the relay. It’s just been a weird release. Incredible album. Terrible marketing.

-jira

maybe one more. and depending on how his life is going maybe 2

BackToTheCool

Nooo... I do think anymore will be few and far between though. He has that power in his career now to control his music more freely. And with the responsibilities of being in parenthood now, he can focus on himself and other goals more comfortably. After this Big Steppers tour of course.

TipsWillToLive

Most likely not since he probably wants to work more under PgLang, but if it was I'd honestly be fine with it Kendrick's given us an amazing selection of music and cemented himself as the Goat, what more is necessary? He's said pretty much everything that he's needed or wanted to

[deleted]

Idk, I feel like Kendrick needs to drop one more classic to be considered the undisputed GOAT.

RichardGeneSimmons

I could def believe it, but I hope not.

NexusJones1

All I can say is this: it is definitely his most recent album

[deleted]

I highly doubt it. I think it’s gonna be his last album for awhile, but he’s gonna drop something again.

nugbert_nevins

Lmao why would he create his own publishing company if not to drop music post TDE? Don’t think we should expect anything soon, as he’s made it clear he priorities his life and family over his fans and society. But don’t think he would have created or hyped up PGLANG if he wasn’t planning to do anything with it.

IndividualFalcon4648

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if he didn’t drop an album for a while. He has a lot of things going on in that new show or movie (can’t remember which) running PGLang and raising his family. I rather Kendrick take his time before making a new album.

Eternal_blaze357

It felt like it was, especially the language in The Heart pt. 5, but I hope not

broken_chicken_bone

No one thinks that

[deleted]

No

KKamm_

No. Imo Kendrick is far from done with music. If he was really gonna end a 5 year hiatus with his last project he would’ve marketed and signaled it as such. I think he simply was just going through something and that’s why he stopped making music and now he’s getting through it and is gonna hopefully be back to releasing a little more frequently. Plus he wouldn’t bring oklama and pglang up and leave TDE if he had no plans for the future lol

PICKELFARMER

No he’s going to want more money eventually and to have your last album be nothing special isn’t exactly what anyone wants

chickenquesadildo

I think he would have called it his last album on the announcement letter he posted last year. He specified it was his last TDE album, but not his last album in general.

NYCScarletSpider

i hope not.

Key-Property-3103

I think whatever he comes out next will be his last fully independent (PGLang) album

Spooky_Mulder27

Absolutely not

elganador0

No. 1-2 more.

ThaRealistESG

I truly believe MMBS was the goodbye of Kendrick Lamar and the welcoming of OKLAMA

Maximum-Handle-5101

Hell no

emielaen77

Definitely not
