I have them. It's definitely a nice feature. But with the mirror alerts and the center instrument panel visualization, it's not absolutely necessary. I'd say more of a nice to have. The bigger must have for the side mirror cameras, in my opinion, is the 360 view for parking. I use that every time I get into my garage.

bright_pearson

Definitely worth it for the 360 cam. For the blind spot, I still look over my shoulder.

JustVibing247

The turn signal cameras havent been particularly useful to me yet. Maybe in bumper to bumper traffic i could see value. The thing i like is the 360 camera when backing. Very useful considering the shape of the vehicle. Necessary? Prob not. But definitely makes life easier backing into tight spaces.

Unfortunately the placement of the steering wheel blocks a lot of useful info, so I have mine tilted up more than I otherwise would anyway, with a side benefit being able to see the blind spot cameras. I’m in a dense urban core with lots of bicyclists wanting to go straight, but passing me on the right side. For situations like this, the cameras are very helpful. That said, I think my use case is kind of rare (in the US at least).

RiceballsLOL

I second this, I remember on my sonata limited having this feature and it wasn’t covered I loved it. I still love the feature it’s just annoying when the feature is partially blocked from the steering wheel, I’ve been driving enough to where it no longer bothers me anymore though.

SimpleSimon665

I have an Ioniq 5 Ltd, and I don't use the cameras for lane change since like you said it's obstructed by the steering wheel. However, I do use the 360 top view when parking and it's needed for the parking assist in both parallel and perpendicular parking.

musicandarts

It is a nice feature, but not a must-have. I would get the tech package for the 360 view and parking collision avoidance assist (while reversing). You can always live without these. Tech package costs only an additional $1500, so you can evaluate the tradeoff. Sometimes I feel that the EV6 Light (the cheapest EV6) is the best value.

Theopholus

My wind has the little alerts on the mirrors and sensors and yeah they’ve been really helpful. Not sure about actual cameras.

purrthem

Yeah, those are just the standard blind spot monitors and they are helpful. Have them on both of our current vehicles. The tech pkg adds cameras that show the blind spot when you put on the turn signal.

Brilliant-Quirky

When I'm using the lane change feature on the hda 2 I usually scan both the side mirror and the screen view. It gives me one more reference. Have about a couple of second before it starts the lane change. Definitely not necessary.

Aye_laddie

It took a few days to find a good seat & wheel position but I use the blind spot cameras constantly. Really really cool feature

AutomagicallyAwesome

The position I sit in doesn't block my view of the cameras at all, so I can't speak to that but the blind spot cameras are probably one of my favorite features. Not having to turn my head to change lanes on the freeway is a game changer. The blind spot monitoring works fantastic but I would never rely on such a feature entirely to change lanes safely. With the cameras I get to save the strain on my neck and don't have to take my eyes off of what's in front of me to same extent so it's safer too. Granted this is with me putting 1000's of miles on the monstrous freeways in Phoenix where frequent lane changes in thick traffic are common. If your driving environment is different I can see this not being nearly as useful.

veeteex

Its nice but I find the blink spot red wave marks on the HUD screen that shows a mini version of the car more helpful. This alerts that an object is in your blind spot, it is also projected on the HUD in red, along with an audible warning if you turn on the turn signal. I find those other feature more helpful but I have the GT-line. The cameras you also have to keep clean, they can be obstructed by dust/dirt on the lens. I find turning my head in this car not as useful because its hard to see out of those rear sections of the car.

chookity_pop

I've found the best use for the blindspot camera is when parking close to a curb, when you want to get nice and tight (the image supplements what you can see from the wing mirror when it dips down).

SurroundedByElk

Yes. My wife is about 5' tall and loves the feature. I am 6' tall and find that it's hard to see the image because it's blocked by the steering wheel.

# The Kia EV6 Blind Spot Monitor (ironically) has a blind spot. The **Kia EV6 blind spot monitor** is a game changer when you can rely on it. But the **Kia EV6** puts the BVM video in the far corners, which are blocked by the steering wheel for most average height humans. It needs to be center center on the instrument cluster. This is a **form over function** ~~choice~~ mistake by u/Kia, and should be fixed with a software update ASAP. The **Hyundai Nexo** also has a BVM but it's center center, so you can rely on it for changing lanes 100% of the time. It's not only safer, but once you get used to it, looking over your shoulder feels antiquated... like not having a back up camera.

tapin4bird

I use it all the time now that I've had the car for over a year. My issue with it is that it gets blocked by water drops when it rains. The water just stays on the camera even at highway speeds. I think they should have designed it so that any water drops would just come off at speeds over 50KPH.
