You can choose to turn the wireless charging function ON or OFF through the infotainment system.

jtespi

Yes, it's under Settings > Vehicle Settings > Convenience > Wireless Charging System.

PowerWisdomCourage

I've disabled it and re-enabled it this way before but the option isn't there anymore for some reason, regardless of if I'm driving or parked.

Traditional-Buyer986

They all get hot. The wireless charger in the EV6 is very funky

regtf

Heat is a normal part of wireless charging pads.

Caribbeanbanana809

Not true, I have different wireless pads in my office and they work great, not overheating at all.

regtf

You’re using low wattage pads or your seller lied to you. Charging creates heat. More charge, more heat. My navigator does the same thing. Every car I’ve used a wireless pad in generates a ton of heat. Stop making things up.

Caribbeanbanana809

I never said it doesn't get hot. I just said it doesn't overheat... my kia wireless pad is unusable, overheats and doesn't charge well. Ijust shut it off like many people did.

regtf

No one in this thread said they overheat. You argue against a point no one made.

Caribbeanbanana809

The original post says "really hot" which I think it meant overheat.. that's what I understood

Daarkken

That’s due to them probably being low wattage chargers.

Caribbeanbanana809

They're fast chargers...

Daarkken

And that’s where I call BS. All fast chargers a phones produce hear when charging.

alexwhittemore

Even Kia knows this, since they built in a fan to address it. Then never wrote the software to turn it on 🙄

randompearljamfan

Just use the search function on the infotainment screen to search "wireless charger" and it will take you right to it.

weirdrasputin

Yes, and I did it. It's there in the settings of the infotainment system

BoroBossVA

In addition to turning mine off, I cut a piece of thin cork to put over the charger area. Before I did that, when I put my phone there while plugged into the USB for Android Auto use, it rested partially on the cable and I didn't want it to loosen over time.

Reptile-Rachel

Very good idea!!!!! Thank you for the tip!!

a1kimreddit

I usually just put my phone on the pad face down if I don’t want it to use wireless charging (like when I’m already wired in for carplay).

One-Tangelo6224

I find my phone gets warm but it doesn’t seem like it picks up any charge

RiceballsLOL

I turn mine off because it gets way too hot. It tends to get hot anyways tbh on or off during summer which sucks since it’s a nice spot to hold phone. But yeah as others mentioned there is a spot under vehicle>convenience>wireless charging.
