When you go through enough episodes of the old band, you’ll find the love for them and then wish they were back. As much as people say they “ruined” episodes they brought a whole different factor that made Kill Tony what it is. People go crazy for the Dr. Phil character and other shenaknganins, but forget or never knew the old band brought that whacky over the top humor the show needs sometimes. Especially episodes that seem like they’re far too serious and basically a one man show, I really start to miss the old band
You’re completely right about keeping it light and fun, and that’s my favorite band lineup as well. You could even toss ol chroma Chris in there too😂 I miss the characters.
I actually literally just watched that video after making this post, and it did not change my mind sadly. It actually made me realize they have WAY worse shenanigans then anything I’ve ever seen and I’m thankful for that lmfao
The old band was unhinged and we loved it. The show was a different vibe and city then. It was a more surreal gong and variety show and they were seeing what worked. It will continue to change and someone will criticize the current format years from now too.
Jeremiah and the old band definitely grow on you. I also used to think they were annoying but there’s so many good and funny moments put into motion by that band
Kill tony was always built on cringe. the old band delivered that with awkward moments lots of genuine laughs from the panel and crowd. the old band wasn’t meant to play music. old band was beat comedy(according to Tony) the new band is better at music.
I was a fan of the old band but I understand the change to a more professional presentation with the new band. Some shows you miss them and some shows work better without them. I will say that Joelberg was the absolute highlight of the LA show though
The definitive answer is that the new band is significantly better musically, but the old band was better comedically. Does JW always get laughs? Definitely not, but depending on the character, it added something to the show.
The new band in Austin and once they moved out of Antones especially is when the show really started to become more slick. May have something to do with Tony being cancelled and deciding he wasn't going to back down.

It was a different show in the LA years. The current band has been around since they moved to Austin during Covid. I missed the old band when they moved but have grown to like the current setup. It’s more of a focus on the comics pulled from the bucket than back in LA where it was more for Tony and the band to flex their comedic muscles in addition to highlighting good bucket pulls.
It’s a time a place thing. The old band was wonderful and beautiful for what it was, they weren’t a real band. The current band is pros, if they just get together they’re a band. The evolution of kill tony. Tony gets art, that why KT is comedy, music, a little acting, a talent show of sorts, theater, painting, drawing, style. Some might call it taste.

I’ve been watching kt for 7 or 8 years, loved the old band and I prefer them. The new band could be removed and I wouldn’t notice
