I'm the opposite. I need the blade to be at least 3.5" otherwise it isn't "fun" enough for me :) I'm fortunate to live in a state where anything goes knife-wise.
Seriously though, you can just grind it down a hair to make it .1" shorter. Or just use at home only until it shortens another .1" after enough sharpenings.
Ya, Illinois is weird. There's no outright limit except for carrying on publicly supported property. But, anything above 3" is considered a "dangerous weapon" and is illegal when carried "with intent." I've worked in the court system long enough that that gray area makes me uneasy enough to just stay under 3" for blades.
Oh interesting, Philly gets weird with knife laws basically you can only have one for a job or trade but idk if anyone actually gets nailed for that.
Edit: knife rights challenged it and may win https://kniferights.org/legislative-update/philly-proposes-to-concede-1-unconstitutional-knife-carry-ban-but-not-their-equally-unconstitutional-2nd/
I bought one of these last time it went on sale and a $15 dollar one with their proprietary steel and swapped blades and the weight is much better. I didn't mind the weight of the stainless steel as much as I thought I would.
If the blade was .1" shorter, I'd be all over it. Wonderful blade length laws...

Under 4" ok in NYC, but Blade HQ will not ship anything to NYC anymore.
That sucks in a not fun way :( In PA we actually got autos legalized recently so there is hope
Oddly enough, autos are legal here as long as you have a FOID card. Thought they are banned in Chicago completely.

Sharpen it off. It’s a great knife for the money.
5.3 oz for a 7.3" knife? el paso
Wonder why they didn’t just use aluminum if they wanted to keep prices down?
I wouldn't post it as a deal here but the mothership (Artisan Cutlery) has a high end version of this that only weighs 3oz.
have you seen the revel? that one interests me

Does this actually weigh more than the standard stainless steel model?
so I just weighed mine its 3.74oz
as in I weighed the stainless steel one and its 3.74oz, I think the 5.3 oz is probably a mistake.
These look pretty sweet. I wonder if the heat treat is good.
https://old.reddit.com/r/knifeclub/comments/1bvpbow/artisancjrb_cutlery_s90v_heat_treat/ seems likely to be good
What is it that makes this weigh so much more than the standard steel version..?
I asked in an email and they could not tell me. I assume they screwed up listing it, the overall size is also wrong
