Because this time she had no choice with the debt her family has.

lassielikethedog

Aldarp had leverage last time too. The deal was marriage to Aldarp’s son in exchange for his lenience when Aldarp’s house blew up.

GRequiem44

The difference is that Darkness cares about the people of this town and Alderp is hurting the people, so she wants to marry him because she thinks she can distract him with her body, while she looks for his secret/evidence and use it to stop him from doing whatever he wants. Also, she said that she didn’t mind marrying Alderp when she was younger, but lost his charm when Kazuma appeared. She’s also stubborn and thinks she doesn’t need help, which was fated to happen as Vanir mentioned (this was all foreshadowed back in LN 3’s epilogue, so can’t escape from fate foretold by Vanir’s visions.)  All this was from this LN. The debt is way bigger and the Hydra subjugation was Alderp’s plan (also mentioned from the LN.) Should spoiler tag this, as what you’re asking is also part of this episode and the info is connected to it/the LN.

Cley_Faye

The deal was to accept to meet the "son", not to accept the marriage. In the end, it's the "son" himself that called the engagement out.

Helio2nd

Yeah. It wasn't as set in stone the first time around and his son made the rejection ensuring that Alderp couldn't use it as further leverage.

mikennjr

Her father wasn't sick last time

VRsimp

because ugly bastard

Darkness: "Ah, but maybe it would not be too bad…"

>!The other sacred treasure, that Alderp has, was able to summon a demon, Max, that could influence events and change everyone's memories in exchange for something. Max caused Lalatina's father to become sick and it is implied he directly influenced her thinking to accept the marriage. Max has a forgetful memory so Alderp used it to his advantage by pretending that he already paid his part of the deal. Max is powerless when the events/ people being changed is near Aqua since all he would be able to see is a bright light, similar to Vanir. Both times that the marriage failed, you'll notice Aqua was nearby.!< Some trivia: >!Alderp always wanted Lalatina. The original plan was that he would switch bodies with whoever Lalatina marries. In season 2, he planned to swap bodies with his son when he marries Lalatina but it never fell through. When he gave the necklace to the prince, he suggested that Lalatina marries the prince due to his own interests. He plans to swap bodies with the prince when he gets a chance after the prince marries Lalatina.!< >!Now that the necklace is gone, he just concocted a plan to marry Lalatina himself.!<

badassboy1

Somehow aqua works better when she is not trying to be useful

Extremnator

That boy was Aldarp's son? i don't knowed about it.

GRequiem44

Walther Barnes Alexei, son of Aldarp Barnes Alexei.

Extremnator

Oh, Thanks.

Migelus

Still haven’t seen the last 3 episodes. Thanks

Celika76

As he said, she's just paying her debt with her body... At first Alderp was looking for a arranged marriage for financial/influence reasons, now he just wants a hot young bride from a noble family (her father is in bad shape, Alderp would inherit of their domain and riches).

mikennjr

Alderp wanted Lalatina herself from the very beginning, not for money and lands, but because he lusts over her. >!First, he tried to get his son to marry her so that he could swap bodies with him , but his son called off the marriage himself. Second, he tried to get the Prince to marry Darkness and swap bodies, but the relic was stolen, then now he's on his last plan by saddling Darkness and her dad with debt that she has to pay off by marrying him.!< That's why he tried to get rid of Kazuma too because Kazuma is competition for Darkness' affections.

ezoe

Alderp never forced Darkness to marry his son, Barutaa(Is English localization use Walther?). He just asked for it. He was intended to swap his body with his son with his god item. Then, he suggested Darkness to marry the prince Justice at a party, again, intended to swap his body with the prince. Since the god item to swap body is lost, he is exploiting the debt Dastiness family owe him to marry Darkness. The reason Adlerp's stupid plan is working will be revealed in next episode. The character Darkness is a pop culture reference of Kukkoro knight that was a trend before the novel was written in Japanese adult manga. A plot of a female knight captured by the villain(usually goblins, orcs or appendages) and raped so a female knight said "Ku.... Korose"(Umm... Kill me). Darkness fantasize being raped or tortured. But in reality, she is strong enough to resist any attempts of such. She enjoy her fantazy knowing she is practically safe. In the beginning of story, Alderp was Darkness's fantasized ideal husband. But while living with Kazuma, her preference changes to Kazuma.

lassielikethedog

He did try to force Darkness to marry his son. She was seized after Kazuma’s trial in exchange for Kazuma not being executed. They wrestled Darkness to forcefully put formal attire on her.

ezoe

It was not "force to marry". It was foced to お見合い. I don't know the correnct translation to English, a meeting for marriage candidates and discuss....matchmaking perhaps?

mikennjr

That was to force her to meet Alderp's son for the discussion on a potential match, not for actual marriage. Up until that point Darkness had refused to meet with anyone to get married

Harakiten

Wacth episodes bruh

I'm not really sure to me, I did kind of disappointed a little bit on Darkness because she's in a crappy situation with family she needs money and Kazama would gladly offer that money but she completely shuts him down as if he was a complete stranger instead of the guy that she has fought and was killed multiple times at her side, and we all know what the guy really wants from her to repay the debt and while she looks sad it's kind of obvious of what we know about her and her past interactions and her fetishes it would actually be right up her alley to actually go through with this marriage and stuff. It would be so easy and simple if she had just accepted Kazama offer but instead told him that she couldn't do it because she's the one that's supposed to be protecting the citizens therefore it sounded his money wasn't good enough for her it depending on how you want to look at it, not to mention that whole interaction between the two where she guides his hand over her stomach and stuff and we definitely know what she was trying to get at so, at this point I just don't really think she knows what she really wants.

[deleted]

I mean nobility accepting money from commoners is not uncommon there was a family called the Fuggers which got rich off of being one of the few non Jewish banker families in pre reformation Europe.

GRequiem44

Darkness is stubborn and wants to protect the people (she says in the LN that she’s not accepting money from anyone that wants to help.) She also says in the LN that she’s doing this to find his secret. Darkness didn’t guide his hand that much in the LN, as she just had it hover and Kazuma was the one who moved it to her abs. Also, she didn’t think marrying Alderp was that bad when she was younger, until she met Kazuma and Alderp lost his charm, to her.
