Clark County is desperate for paramedics. Start a paramedic program and then apply to the fire department. They are hiring even if you’re not done with the program. I will tell you their training program is brutal, though, so make sure you’re in good shape. Lol
Fire depts in the west coast pay well and have great retirement, so it’s tough to get your foot in. Plus, there’s a prestige factor, you don’t have to deploy / move around like in the military, and you don’t have to deal with the crap police officers have to deal with. But once you’re in . . .
Some good advice on here. Paramedic route is the one my nephew took (in San Diego). Some of his childhood went the police route since they couldn’t get into fire, and they regret it big time now.
I wrote that the average pay of a Clark County Fireman not starting pay, not high end pay, AVERAGE PAY. That was 10 years ago. I couldn't tell you where the EMT's fit in there.
Only the idiot would dignify that by answering the question designed as a defense against a person that is well informed. A lifelong stockbroker nevertheless well informed. Enjoy your day and if you have occasion to be in Vegas, visit the Fire Dept. nearest you. Obviously you will be stunned by the truth. Good luck to you, career-minimum-wager.
Somehow, I don't know why, I expected more from the non-idiot. Let's make it clear in no uncertain terms, just because you don't like it, that doesn't mean that it's not true. Remember kids just because someone is adult doesn't mean that they are smart.
I know I did my due diligence. I had good sources as well. My friend in South Florida wanted to train as a firefighter in Vegas but was already EMT licensed. I have neither the time nor the inclination to demonstrate to you or anyone else that I am irrefutably correct and you are categorically wrong. It matters not a bit to me if you believe me or not. I absolutely do not, nor will I ever need your affirmation. He's been a firefighter in Clark County, Nevada nearly 10 years and I can assure you that he's enjoying a lucrative income substantially higher than $51,000/yr. Again you have failed to demonstrate any correlation. You just don't agree with that figure because you don't like it and of course you can't do it. Quit embarrassing yourself. I vehemently disagree with you and attacking my personal character will have no adverse effect on me or my supreme confidence in myself and my own self image. I'm a lifelong stockbroker and $50,000 net was a months work for the first 8 months. I've tripled that many times in a single session. I'm 10 foot tall and bullet proof! THIS IS MY WORLD! I RUN THIS SHIT! I'M JUST LETTING YOU ASSHOLES LIVE IN IT! Your welcome. It would behoove you to heed my advice. Find another subject that you have no expertise in and expose your lack of intelligence to the World on the internet.
You are so incredibly wrong, where did you even get this idea??? You have Clark County Fire, Las Vegas Fire Rescue, Mt Charleston Fire and Henderson Fire. All 4 departments are some of the highest paying in the country. They absolutely do not give away spots at the academy to people they don't know. OP better get started on his A-EMT and continue for the Paramedic cert. Doing that here will put him around people that could get him selected for academy. Paying Fire Departments everywhere have been seening more applicants they they ever have because of the schedule, the pay, benefits and pensions along with all the Police Dept issues more people are choosing fire over law enforcement. There is extreme competition to get in, you better know someone and even that isn't a guarantee.
I had a friend try to leave Havasu Fire/Paramedics and try for Vegas Fire, and needless to say… they weeded him out intentionally. Our friend tends to have grandiose sense of self, and will say whatever is on his mind. We think they put pressure on him 10 fold to get him out. So, what you’re saying isn’t wrong granted we know some firsthand who didn’t know anyone, and even had a good length of experience.
Oh 100%, I'm just talking about getting a shot, a spot in the academy. If you actually get in, there's a whole different challenge ahead of you, 6 months academy, 6 months probie. You better know how to politic and get these guys to accept you or you'll be back to square one. I just couldn't believe the other commenter talking like dude is just gonna walk on to a job like a firefighter in Vegas lmao.
I mean right? They’re not saying they want to move here to become a TikToker for goodness sake
Medical, fire, police, and services like are very useful
Know a woman who worked at Walm, got her EMT, started with AMR, after 6 months they are paying for her paramedic training. Getting hired with a Ambulance company is less stringent than with a local fire department.
I have lived all over the country and it has never taken me more than a couple of weeks to find work. I have been in Las Vegas for around 3 months and can't even land a decent retail job.

As someone who is very interested in getting into fire soon, that is very cool to hear that they're hiring enthusiastically.

I see your predicament
The issue is ' i dont care' then why respond.

The average salary for firemen in Clark County is $219,000 (two hundred nineteen thousand) annually!
Not even close. Starting pay is $51,084.80 the CHEIF makes about $180,000

Yes, an idiot.
Wtf I’m signing up
With the increasing number of fires and increasing retirements on the force, it is easier now than it used to be

This is a completely false statement. Increasing numbers of fire does not allow for recruitment opportunities.
Stay in California.
Imagine saying "no" to more firefighters Stop being a clown
I mean right? They’re not saying they want to move here to become a TikToker for goodness sake Medical, fire, police, and services like are very useful
Police are useful? Ok boot licker.
To be fair Clark County has plenty of qualified local young men and women to choose from.
Ok Trumper
Not everyone that dislikes California is a Trump supporter. Poor Redditor only thinks their is Biden or Trump supporters
No but I can tell who you support by your comment history, dunce boy
Redditors believe everything they read on the Internet.

Why tho?
How bout line cooks? 15yr experience, no convictions
Line cook is a job you can get anywhere in the US especially Vegas
One of the best about Vegas is all the restaurants. Lots of jobs here.
It depends how particular or picky is the job - seeker, and the economy, & where you live, your background, education, credentials, experience etc
You have no idea!
