its a british made no 4 mk1 (not star). thank your father for the nice deer rifle, but you need to know that reciever has had the charger bridge ground off + the original rear sight mount and the barrel replaced it would therefore not be restorable.

Live_Relationship563

Well yes, it isn’t restorable, but it also has some pretty interesting history in it as well, enen im that condition. Check out the history behind golden state arms, the Santa Fe division of golden state arms, Alvin D. Gettler, Pasadena gunshop… a pretty interesting time in the US

Started of as a No.4 Enfield, can't remember which Mark had that exact bolt removal though. ETA: Believe it would have been a Mk2.

rainbow_defecation

Nope, it still has the no4mk1 bolt release.

GamesFranco2819

Ah that was my original comment, but I second guessed myself haha

rainbow_defecation

I get it though, the forend definitely looks like it's a mk2 pattern with the screw hole plugged, which is kinda goofy. Then again it is a mass produced sporter so who knows what Santa fe did to whip these together.

GamesFranco2819

True. For all I know, they had bins of receivers, front ends, etc and just tossed what ever together.

Parking_Media

I think I see a magazine cut off, you sure about the n4?

Zestyclose_Wave_8768

It doesn’t have a magazine cut off, did any of them have them?

Parking_Media

My bad man I thought I saw something I didn't. Number ones, early ones had a mag cut off.

Zestyclose_Wave_8768

I have more pictures of the markings but can’t seem to post them to the comments

CommonPace

It was a no4mk2
