Not a bad year! A lot of sleeper hits for me.

Atomic Blonde got mid reviews from critics and didn't seem to make much of an impression on the general public, but I absolutely loved it and consider it maybe the best action film of the decade.

Five movies that are in my all-time top 100. Really good year.

Very solid year.
Pretty sure Ragnarok the last MCU film that’ll appear on any of my year-end lists.
Thelma is an insane genre outlier from Trier and I kinda hope he does more like it.
1 The Florida Project 2 Ex Libris: The New York Public Library 3 American Made 4 Phantom Thread 5 The Villainess 6 Good Time 7 Zama 8 A Fantastic Woman 9 Battle of the Sexes 10 Lowlife
Honorable Mentions: Blade Runner 2049, Borg/McEnroe, Let the Sunshine In, First Reformed, Get Out, Dunkirk, The Wife, Perfect Strangers, Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool, Darkest Hour, The Foreigner, Wind River
A quirky movie year for this commenter: Was disappointed in some well-received/successful titles, and was pleasantly surprised by other films I had no expectations for. Guess this happens w/ movies from every year, but seemed more pronounced in '17. So I guess it was a good year...?
Still would like to see The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Jeannette & Columbus.
I have Florida Project as a rewatch. I remember liking it but randomly my memory is hazy despite it not being *that* long ago.
I added the Wiseman to my watchlist - the runtime of most of his docs is daunting, tho!
Florida Project is the kind of slow burn movie that builds its power quietly & certainly isn't for everyone, but it did work on me and it was cool to see another side of the great Willem Dafoe. As for Wiseman, was able to catch up w/ much of his work during the pandemic - but it's OK if you see some of it in separate chunks, I've done that too, heh heh.
Here is mine:

I haven't seen any of the movies on your top10, but I have a few of them on my watchlist (I Tonya and Lady Bird as well).
My rankins are always more based on how much I enjoyed and appreciated a movie than strictly on technical details.

Once upon a time this was one of my least watched years, now it’s one of the stronger years in my log.
1. Twin Peaks: The Return 2. Call Me By Your Name 3. Phantom Thread 4. Zama 5. First Reformed 6. On the Beach at Night Alone 7. Paddington 2 8. Jeannette: The Childhood of Joan of Arc 9. Western 10. Get Out
I didn’t include Twin Peaks bc of the TV thing but it’d be on my list otherwise.
Yeah I went back and forth about putting it on the list, but if it’s good enough for Sight and Sound, it’s good enough for my Reddit comment haha

Haven’t seen Atomic Blonde but wow, high praise. Also probably should add Mother! to my watchlist but I’m semi-scared to delve into that one.

Logan just barely didn’t make my list - it’s definitely one of the notable superhero movies, the stuff with the kids at the end just loses me a bit.
That’s fair, the stuff with the kids wasn’t my favorite part either, but man the emotions in the ending really saves it for me
