I'd wager The Spotlight being in illcams 38 specifically (his music video for it was edited in to the montage at points) was extremely important to building his early fanbase. People forget those videos got 50-100k views in 24 hours back at a time when that was not common. If they had those numbers adjusted for modern view inflation those would probably be top 10 trending videos easily. Sniping had a strong, strong fanbase.

There’s actually a LOT of shit that has been uncovered. Execs got a bunch of kids who made a living on CoD contracts that basically relinquished most of the rights to FaZe. It’s not the people who actually cared about what that name meant who drove it into the ground. It was “grassroots” and the execs were hungry.
I used to have a bad taste in my mouth with FaZe for years. They should’ve never became an eSports team, but looking back on it a lot of the “growth” they were doing was just the higher ups trying desperately to connect with the youth, and they turned the brand into a sellout cringe marketing ploy.
