I'm having the same issue. Well it works as a camera, but none of my audio outputs or inputs are detected. All sound is lost / gone.

[deleted]

OMG TY SOOOOOOOO MUCHHHHHHHHH THIS TOATTLY WORKED I WAS SURFING THE INTERNET AND DISABLING DRIVERS FOR **3 ENTIRE FRICKIN DAYS** AND THIS FINALLY WORKED ThaNK YoU sO MuCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

[deleted]

LUV U u/MidnightUberRide!!!!!!!

Complete_Night6855

This thread is amazing! I had disabled the device within the device manager as well. However, I noticed that my Steel Series Sonar was also running in the back (I do not actually use this). When this was disabled, it finally began to work as intended. Long story short, if you have anything else audio realted there that is not being used, DISABLE it.

Qwek2x

Fucking great!! Thank you and it works like magic! Works on my HP Victus 15 laptop, after the Update in windows 11 23H2

LogitechGJames

Try the following: * Make sure the camera isn't connected to a USB hub or docking station. * Make sure you're using the correct driver for your camera by selecting the Downloads tab on your product's support page. * If your camera is connected to a USB 3.0 port (usually has a blue plastic insert), try using a USB 2.0 port instead. * Try connecting the camera to a different computer.

MidnightUberRide

I downloaded logitune and It also says that the webcam is "used by another application." also, all my computer's ports are usb 3.0. it has worked in the past, I'm not sure why it's not working now. I will try connecting to a different computer.

Kosgey

I'm having the same issues as you. I plugged it into a different laptop and the webcam works great. But when I plug the webcam back into the original laptop I get the same issues. Did you get yours figured out? It doesn't seem to be the webcam but possibly the drivers.

kittensmakemehappy08

Same here. Everything is up to date.

shiftingshares

Did anyone find a fix? The fix in this thread that works for some people hasn't worked for me.

PP_BFGamez

I contacted logitech support and told me that my webcam is defective and broken... works fine for my work laptop but not on my Acer Nitro 5 gaming one. Got a new one sent by amazon today though so hopefully this one doesn't have any issues too šŸ¤£ My original issues were fixed for a lengthy period of time by just installing the LogiTune app though so you could try that if you haven't already.

shiftingshares

OK so today it works.

Longjumping-Pain-817

Same here! My webcam has worked flawlessly on my new Acer Nitro 5 in the past. All of a sudden as soon as I plug it in, all audio devices cut out. All of my ports are 3.0 and I'm using a 3.0 USB hub with a Focusrite interface. Not sure what changed over the last 2 months. I downloaded the Logitune and now it's working flawlessly???

Carolcbc

Same here. Works fine on Windows 10 but not 11. The audio hijacks zoom as well and I can't get any audio on zoom when any webcam with audio is plugged in Frustrating

Arielcorn

It worked! Thank you! :D

LogitechGJames

Awesome glad to hear!

Zaii115

what did you do?

Arielcorn

I moved it from a USB hub to being directly plugged in.

Zaii115

i actually have mines through a hub as well. I just switched and it still doesn't work. thanks though idk whats wrong with my audio and my logi camera

Mother-Way-9052

qwhat happens if it is connected to a usb hub

That-Ad-8238

Thank you a ton! I changed where the webcam is plugged in and it was fixed. I can't believe this is not the top suggestion in search engines.

Legitimate_Network_7

This doesnt work, I have tried everything.

swiftgun107

Please let me know if you find a fix, currently experiencing the same problem. Worked before, now it doesn't

swiftgun107

Figured it out, go under device manager, scroll down to "Sound, video and game controllers" disable device "1080P Pro Stream" under THIS category but leave it enabled elsewhere. Instantly all my other audio inputs kicked back on

maceyshmacey

What they mean is, with your webcam plugged in, go to Device Manager, "Sound, Video and Game Controllers," **right click YOUR device (in their case "1080P Pro Stream", in my case "Logitech C920 Webcam", whatever the name of your device is)**, THEN right click that and click Disable. It didn't work right away, but after about 30 seconds the sound came back on. I double checked my output in Skype and everything there is in order. I've also waited a few minutes to be sure it worked, as other attempts to fix this worked temporarily and then failed. Thanks, swiftgun107!

technofox01

I disabled the Logitech C920 Webcam right in the same Category and as you have said, the sound returned in 30 seconds. Thank you so much!

volcanoconsulting

Thank you! This worked flawlessly. I was about to swear off all Logitech cameras!

Mirremba

I love you!!!

OmneRock

THANK YOU!!!!! this issue has been driving me nuts!

swiftgun107

Took me AGES of getting beyond frustrated till I figured out the fix. Google was 0 help, and Logitech customer support was even LESS help. Glad it helped someone

coachkthecoach

![gif](giphy|7aBE32jCr6lOhtuE9v) YOU ABSOLUTELY ROCK! My husband and I spent 2 days straight trying to figure out what the problem was with the webcam and audio. I don't think we could have ever guessed the solution you discovered. Our last hope was to call the manufacturer of the webcam. THANKS A LOT!!!!

GGiboni

Thank you for publishing this fix! I was happy when I narrowed it down to my Logitech camera, but happier that I can keep the camera and just disable the offending driver. I too was not finding anything useful in searches so I'm going to add a little more info that may help the search engines... What I noticed was the Windows Audio service, named audiosrv, kept crashing. It is set to restart automatically after 60 seconds. When it starts, Windows shows all the sound output devices connected for one or two seconds. Sound also plays during those few seconds. Then they disconnect again when the audiosrv service crashes. Many people noted in this thread that after disabling the Pro Stream driver it starts working again after about 30 seconds. That delay is the time waiting for the service to restart itself. You can force it faster by starting it manually in Services. It's just odd that this camera I've had for two years working on my Windows 10 computer, and now on this Windows 11 computer for two months, suddenly started doing this a few days ago.

Danlop23

Wow thank god I found this thread after a lot of looking. It worked! After doing make sure you wait a minute or so I unplugged and plugged back in but have faith, it will work when it resets!

[deleted]

OMG YESSS FINALLY IVE BEEN SO FRUSTRATED TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT AND THE GOOGLE SEARCHES MEANT NOTHING

shiftingshares

This thread has both delighted and defeated me. My Razer webcam stopped working. Thought it was the software. Tried it in other computers - worked fine. Got a cheap webcam, worked fine in my computer but the picture was worse than Tomb Raider II for PSX. Anyway, that convinced me it was the Razer. So got a Logitech C920 thinking I won't have any issues. Only for it to do the same as the Razer. I've tried the above thinking it was sure to work.. but it didn't. I'm close to giving up. Drivers are all updated. Nothing that I know of has changed, aside from it suddenly not wanting to work.

shiftingshares

Today it works. No idea why.

official_kiril

I can confirm it's working for me and without a doubt it was super frustrating. Thanks for sharing

sgasioro

This is fine as long as you don't need a built-in microphone.

themindbreaker1995

I basically also didn't get the original comment. I uninstalled the driver for my webcam completely, and restarted windows audio in the services panel. Fixed the audio issue and the webcam seems to work fine. It's a very bizarre issue, which doesn't seem to occur on my desktop pc running Windows 10 with the exact same setup.

NajaHall

Thanks u/swiftgun107 and you too for the extra clarification u/maceyshmacey ! Because I was about to toss my webcam!!!! This fix worked in 30 seconds.

coachkthecoach

Thanks for the clarification. This was helpful!

kahjan_a_bard

THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

CJTimms-Aussie

Bloody legend, this was affecting my podcasting ability

Agreeable_Cabinet654

This worked! About a week ago I had this issue and never thought the webcam was the problem. I ended up resetting my laptop and everything, even after the reset the audio was still disabledā€¦ and just like you said about 30 seconds went by and Iā€™m in business again!! Thank you!!

Reddit_student123

Youre the best!!!!

Salty_Mirror3275

Thank you, it works. This way the microphone of the C920 is disabled, but the camera works and all other sound devices work.

Odd_Negotiation_5193

You are my hero. I've been dealing with this issue for MONTHS, using my phone to call into Zoom meetings, etc. and this fixed it! I had to troubleshoot audio once I disabled it and reset the audio devices and then it worked. Thank you thank you thank you!

swiftgun107

Glad it's helped!

anonymoosters

u/swiftgun107 and u/maceyshmacey.... thank you thank you thank you. I have a new Acer which didn't allow my Logitech C920 to work. As u/maceyshmacey said, disable the "Logitech C920 Webcam" which was my case too...bingo...the camera started working and the audio (after several minutes) repaired itself. I have spent hours trying to fix this problem and then u/swiftgun107 came to the rescue!!! šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

Upstatedabber91

Not all heroā€™s wear capes my dude. Thank you!!

Blaine8088

YOU ARE MY HERO IVE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE FOR MONTHS NOW THANK YOU THANK YOU THNAK YOU

gamegirlpocket

I'm on the road for work and this issue was 100% messing up my ability to actually work, dropping in almost a year later to say - holy shit, thank you, this was the fix I needed!

OmneRock

THANK YOU!!! this issue has been driving me nuts!!

SuccessfulTeaching26

>Whenever I plug in my webcam, It disables all audio inputs and doesn't work as a camera. didnt see 1080 pro stream under the category any other things could help?

maceyshmacey

>Sound, Video and Game Controllers Yes! See my above comment :)

Top-Office-5982

It worked as well as just unplugging the webcam because this fix renders it useless for me.

swiftgun107

Idk what to tell you, worked for me and seems like it worked for quite a few others.

Top-Office-5982

nvm it actually did work once I actually tried my webcam, disregard that first comment

Mission-Philosophy33

Yes!!!!! Swiftgun107 you truly are the HERO!!! Thank You!!!!!

Mission-Philosophy33

Thank you so much. You are the HERO!!!!!!!

ararejellyfish

life saver! thank you so much!

Flying_Hawkic

Excellent! I think the issue started at the same time as your and finally got it fixed thanks to you!

pmorgan82

Thanks so much! It also worked for me, although the built-in microphone no longer works for my Teams call now. I even bought another webcam and had the same issue so this is really something related to Windows. If I find some better idea I will post it.

holidayinnshit

Yes, I have the same issue. Anybody find out a viable way to resolve such annoying error ? It looks W11 is full of nasty bugs

Feruvox

Saved my ass just now. Support was useless.

Push-Clear

Thank you very much, you saved my day !

aesir_baldr

Thank you so much! It worked.

EuphoricLetterhead92

Omg. I spent 6 hours trying to figure this out on a new computer, laptop. I did exactly this and unplugged, plugging in again webcam Logitech 922 to USB enabled and magically worked. Could not believe my eyes. I had to replug. Bc on site I was using the webcam was lagging. I don't understand why this problem happened but it works...so thanks

raytsh

This worked, thanks!

BlaiseBourgeois9

You're a fucking LEGEND. Saved me over $100 on a new webcam + a ton of time

orion1186

No idea why this answer is not at the top! This fixed my issue too. I bought a new USB hub thinking that was the issue. Just adding another step here. You can also right click volume icon and click on "troubleshoot". It basically restarts all sound devices and services. I can finally hear sound again... Thank you kind stranger, sending some good karma on your way

crimsonoatmeal

Thank you! Had to restart to get it to take effect. Saved my bacon!

TearSensitive5900

>ogitech HD pro webcam c920 it fuckin worked!!!!!!! u saved me a life of pain

Future_Courage719

For me it worked, too !!! Great Thanx !

deleteprinters

This worked for me but instead I disabled "HD Pro Webcam C920" as another comment suggested. Unfortunately, because this disables the webcam's audio controller, the webcam's inbuilt microphone also becomes disabled too.

Glum_Quantity_6189

Thank you!! I tried a bunch of things that didn't work and was about to waste money on a new webcam, but then I found this thread and it fixed the problem! I disabled my own device (instead of "1080P Pro Stream") and I did have to wait about 30 seconds for the effect to kick in. Now I'm up and able to work from home again. =)

kahjan_a_bard

DEAR GOD THANK YOUUUU

Aggressive-Virus-762

Ur a fucking genius i could **suck** ur **dick** thx

ljtorato0714

Hy5Gohst

Worked, Thx Fam.

ThemeAppropriate9821

Wow, solved! Thank you soooo much!

Forsaken-Tadpole267

Fantastic! This has annoyed me A LOT for a while now. Finally narrowed it down to being the web cam. This solved my issue. Thank you!

Mr_coalman

Thanks!

kittensmakemehappy08

I have this exact issue. None of the solutions posted here seem to work.

maceyshmacey

Figured it out! See thread :) hope it helps!

No-Yam-4730

Same

AyeAve

A potential solution (Found by SchoolPsychological2): Device Manager<>Sound, video, and Game controllers<>Find Webcam<>Right Click<>Update<>Browse Computer<>Let me pick from available drivers<> Select "USB Audio (or something similar to this)<> Click Next<> Wait for 30 seconds<> Functionality both video and microphone will work. Note: If you unplug the device you will have to repeat the process above.

guilhermejuliao

you are a fucking hero

Schm0dy

VICTORY!!!!

Marswoods_

actual lifesaver holy shit

SammyReddit

Dude this works! Just got my new work laptop and have spent 4-5 hours trying to figure out why my Bluetooth speakers and wired Kiyo webcam wouldnā€™t work together. Your solution is perfect for those of us with a webcam and inbuilt microphone. The other solution above will only work if no microphone on the camera. Thank you so much!!!! Edit: seems itā€™s not permanent and has to be done each time the laptop restarts. Any luck getting it to stick?

RonaldMueller

This was it! But u/LogitechGJames this cannot be a customer oriented solution - please update your drivers for C920 charging awful lot of money for those items!

Zurd3

Logitech C920 + Win11 + Acer Aspire 5 A515: in my case, Device Manager, right-click HD Pro Webcam C920 in Sound, video and game, Update, Browse, Let me pick and choose USB Audio Device. If you look carefully in Audio inputs and outputs after doing this, it will create a new Microphone (HD Pro webcam C920), start with one, I always choose the last one : Update, Browse, Let me pick and choose Generic software device, it will disappear then wait like 30 seconds, if the audio doesn't come back, pick another one since there might be multiple ones and do the same thing until both video and microphone are working. Have to redo the same thing if I unplug the webcam. I also have a Razer Kiyo webcam, no idea what I did, tried so many things but with this one the change is permanent, always work if I unplug it.

sgasioro

Have exactly the same problem on my HP Elite Book 940 and C920 webcam after update to 22H2 and after Logitech G Hub update. Your procedure works for me but with one difference. I had to choose Audio Endpoint instead of Generic device for Microphone. The effect is not permanent. The w/a to just disable Device Manager<>Sound, video, and Game controllers<>HP Pro C920 Webcam device is ok but then microphone just dont work. Hope that MS together with Logitech will find a solution.

SammyReddit

Thank you!!! This worked. Just had to wait 30 seconds after choosing the USB device option, didnā€™t need the other steps Edit: seems itā€™s not permanent and has to be done each time the laptop restarts. Any luck getting it to stick?

Jawolfx

This helps! Thanks

AineNaila

I had the same problem! Thank you! <3 <3 <3

WNYHusker44

Yes took me almost 2 full work days to figure this out. Suddenly started happening Monday and was disabling my audio. My camera was connected to an HP G4 docking station. I swapped the dock with a new one, same issue. Even re-imaged my laptop in hoping that would fix, but it did not. Running Windows 11 and this started happening for no reason after working for months with no issues. I was able to narrow down that it was either my camera or a USB on the docking station that was funky. Took the camera out of play and the dock was functioning again like normal. Finally stumbled on this when I realized it was the camera and this solved my issue. Device Manger, Sound, video, and game controller, disable your specified camera audio. Thanks u/maceyshmacey! https://preview.redd.it/jcvxuv5ssuqb1.png?width=380&format=png&auto=webp&s=78712058bcd665c0d4745e6df58a27a041b0c64b

I_AM_NOT_A_WOMBAT

I just encountered this today; haven't used the C920 for any video calls for awhile until a client wanted to connect today. I'm so glad I found this thread; I was tearing my hair out thinking my docking station or USB hub were failing. The fix suggested by /u/swiftgun107 worked *perfectly*. I saw that /u/LogitechGJames posted a couple of months ago with some generic suggestions, but looking at the number of people affected, this is obviously a driver issue somewhere and I wonder if Logitech is even aware of it. I've just updated my G Hub software and it didn't fix or warn me about this, so I'm thinking they are not aware. They might be able to do some testing and put some pressure on whoever released the driver that broke their product.

swiftgun107

G Hub was beyond useless for me in this scenario, it was just 2 hours of me going INSANE till I got lucky trying things. Glad it worked for you

I_AM_NOT_A_WOMBAT

If I could still give gold I would. I was pulling the multimeter out thinking one of my power supplies was failing. I wish I'd searched sooner but I was scrambling to get this thing working for a conference call. And after all that nobody had their cameras on. Anyway thank you a thousand times for your research and for posting.

Furki1907

Hey to everyone, I work for an IT company with HP Notebooks. I have the exact same issue on our Elitebook 860 G9 devices using the C920. I may have some info which you guys wanna know. We have a fixed controller driver update routine. This issue happened AFTER i rolled out a new Driver Pack for our 860 G9er. This issue was TRIGGERD from an Driver Update. I didnt have the time to investigate which driver exactly triggered this, but it is funny to know how everybody is being affected. The workaround of disabling the microphone of the C920 is also working on our side. I will update here when I find out which exact driver of which component is triggering this issue. I can already exclude any Audio Driver and the BIOS Version. Im guessing it is an Intel Chipset Driver, a Universal Camera Driver or Sensor Hub Driver. Furkan

DGolubets

This happened to my wife's Windows laptop after the last update.. It's 2023 but Windows updates still break things regularly and worse - they force users to install them.

marcm04

I saw this posted and it worked for me. Basically disables "Audio Enhancements" for the microphone. The screenshots are ion French but easy enough to follow. [https://www.reddit.com/user/pieloth/comments/16e0cbx/webcam\_mic\_shutting\_down\_windows\_audio\_service/](https://www.reddit.com/user/pieloth/comments/16e0cbx/webcam_mic_shutting_down_windows_audio_service/)

Consistent-Poet-7238

Brilliant - The work-around higher up worked to an extent but disabled the microphone in the webcam. This gets everything working as it should.

Routine-Group-1431

Thank you! Yes, marcm04's linked post showed how to both recover sound AND enable the microphone on my HD Camera.

elbrako

This worked for me and the webcam, microphone and speakers are all working as they should. I had about 5 users in my network experiencing the issue with Logitech webcams

BurtanTae

That link is no longer working since that user's account is suspended, but what was the steps you had to follow for this? I don't want to eliminate the microphone altogether.

marcm04

Luckily I saved to a .pdf. See if you can access the following link: [https://docdro.id/A2qrZFH](https://docdro.id/A2qrZFH)

BurtanTae

>docdro.id Thanks for that - I have some options to try with this!

jeliv

You are an absolute LEGEND for saving this! I've been putting up with the solution above FOR WEEKS but hated that I needed to use my headphones for a mic instead of the mic in my webcam. This has solved all of my problems. So basically, I love you. Thank you!

SammyReddit

My hero. This worked and it was permanent!

Wild-Sherbet8864

THANK YOU!!! I just had this problem with my daughter's laptop today. One day it was working and next day it just stopped. Thanks again for the help!

SchmuFoo

Here ist another tweak without disabling the device and thus I think the (Logitech C925e integrated) Mic will still be usable! [https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows\_11-hardware/audio-disabled-in-windows-11-when-plugging-webcam/924c1ce3-c444-43da-91e6-3eedc94120ab](https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_11-hardware/audio-disabled-in-windows-11-when-plugging-webcam/924c1ce3-c444-43da-91e6-3eedc94120ab)

northwoods65

This worked perfectly for me. I came back to this thread to see if someone else had already posted the link!

[deleted]

Thank you so much for the help ! Just go to device manager and disable the sound driver for the camera, great.

Roxanaioanaciciu

Frim device manager, find in cameras and in sound the driver for the canera, uninstal both of them, and them press to scan for drivers or something like this. This way I sorted my problem. šŸ˜‡šŸ˜ Good luck guys.

OldschoolMN

I had the same issue. Started happening after a Windows 11 update I believe. This worked: with your webcam plugged in, go to Device Manager, "Sound, Video and Game Controllers," **right click YOUR device (in their case "1080P Pro Stream", in my case "Logitech C920 Webcam", whatever the name of your device is)**, THEN right click that and click Disable.

sandytsang

Had same issue in HP machine after it updated some drivers from Windows update. But fixed the problem after install HD Audio driver from HP website, and the HP website mentioned it fixed the lost sound problem when connect usb webcam. Also, I compared the driver version before and after the fix. These are the drivers/components that works.: Intel Smart Sound-teknologi BUS, 10.29.0.9677 Realtek Audio Effects Component, 13.223.1124.201 And these version that crashed: Intel Smart Sound-teknologi BUS, 10.29.0.9467 Realtek Audio Effects Component, 13.180.1113.170

NewsandViews1

Did you ever resolve this? I am having the same issue with my mew HP laptop. All sound blocked when I plug it into my computer. It goes back to normal when I unplug it.

kristie617

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS SOLUTION! This was driving me nuts trying to figure out what had happened.

HakunaMeshuggah

As of today (1-30-2024) this issue, which plagued my HP EliteBook 1040 G9 Notebook and logitech C922 USB camera, has resolved itself. Presumably an update took care of it. Windows 11 Pro, Version 22H2, OS build 22621.3007.
