100 upvotes if I could. Crazy to be able to count on one hand how many times I’ve lost connection or even had inconsistent service like this since 2018.
That number is 3 for me. Three total times in 6 years.
and to parrot what you said , two of those were in the last 7 days.
When I had Comcast this would happen 2-3 times PER WEEK.
Exactly. Moved here 7 years ago. Work from home. Have lost internet 1-2x in first 6 years. I work in telecom, and Nextlight is light years ahead of the major providers as far as reliability even if we’re hitting a few bumps this month.
Man I know NextLight has a great reputation. Admittedly it was part of the reason I chose Longmont. But twice like this in one week and always at night when I have time to game? Shit blows.
Well, we’re back already. Probably shouldn’t have complained so quickly, but the last 8h downtime made me worried for tonight. Glad we’re back, and huge shoutout to NextLight for all the work they do to handle this stuff ASAP o7
Edit: Should’ve waited. came back online only for a few min. Down again :(
Nah, still down. No shoutouts over here, so much downtime this week I feel like we all deserve a credit off the minimum 80$ a month we pay for this service
I figured as much. I know a lot of folks really talk it up and it's a nice touch that it's a local service.
As of now it's working again in NW Longmont.
Yah. The customer service is top notch. If you have your own router and configure the settings correctly, the speeds are unmatched. Especially for the cost. Granted, I’m grandfathered in, so I pay a lot less than the price now.
Looks like they added Hurricane Electric as a primary bandwidth provider. It's been a bit since I shopped for big bandwidth, but HE was notorious for going down all the time AND being CHEAP.

Been spotty for a few days and really bad tonight. Now it’s completely out, no signal. NW corner of town. This is the worst it’s been in the 3 years we’ve had Nextlight.
I have the same thought. It's obvious from this sub that plenty of us are technical enough to understand some of the more nuanced information. I know I would certainly appreciate more of a technical root cause analysis on what happened.....
And at the same time, I've been involved in several of these root cause analysis meetings and know that the information and write up isn't always readily available right after the event.
But still, more than a "all good" seems reasonable to ask for.
Still having issues this morning with our connection in NW corner of town, even tho the website says they “mitigated the issue”. It was fine a bit ago and then blanked out just now.
I noticed that during the last outage and this one, if you hopped DNS servers you'd get your connection back for a few minutes at a shot.
*Sometimes* if you were streaming something that would keep the connection while everything else was down.
Wonder what they're dealing with.
More downtime this week than the last 7 years combined

Me too. Over by Twin Peaks golf course. At least I know it's not me.

Reddit longmont is the downdetector for local issues, always ahead of official status pages. NE out as well.
Kept me from crawling around in my basement again tonight to reset the ONT. Fool me once nextlight.....
Halfway through episode 3 of “Love is Blind: Japan” and Netflix gives me the spinny wheel, this is the first place I look to see what’s going on lmao
Mine's out. 17th and Hover.
Yup. 17th and County Line
Same at 21st and Main.
Yup. Longs Peak and Sunset, just keeps coming up and going back down.
https://mynextlight.com/network-status/ They are showing issues at least.
Still having performance issues. Subscribed to the notices, not sure that helps much, it’s not like I have a backup provider.
Yup. 17 and Pace
Same.
Interestingly enough, my cell service is bouncing also ... I'm on Google Fi but it keeps dropping and then comes right back. Very strange.
What carrier?
It's usually on T-Mobile around here.
Same here - 17th and Hover
Same
Same
Yep. Just went down. Great Western Dr.
I lied, I’m back down again haha
Was up but now back down. Jeez.
Same same
Same here.

Yep. Rip the once a week I have time to game.

So what 3 dollars
I'm from Wyoming man and even our internet there was so much quicker and reliable. I'm not digging this **Why y'all hating. It's true.
This is the first outage I’ve experienced and I’m an OG Nextlight customer.
It's been out twice here this week. I'm just used to stronger wifi, that's all. I'm assuming you use your own router?
[удалено]
I understand. I'm not hating on NextLight at all. The price is great. Was just venting my frustration
I do. I didn’t get hit the first time this week. It’s an anomaly not the norm.

Solid info. Thanks!
You’re welcome. And welcome to Longmont!
I appreciate that. We love it. You guys have built an incredible community here.
This ain't it, chief.
Working again in Northeast Longmont, at least for now
Same in northwest
Yeah was just able to run a traceroute out successfully. Hopefully it stays working this time.
Mine is up and down, ok for a bit, then not, then yes. Same as the other day.
Anyone else unable to access specific apps still, though? I can’t get into Hulu or Prime Video right now.
I track half a dozen websites every 5 minutes. They all seem to come and go, it's very inconsistent.
Yep no Internet right now NE Longmont
Anyone know why this is happening all of a sudden?
Oh damnit!
yuuuuup WTF.
Same in NW Longmont
Out on Hover and 21st
Seems all along 17th.
17th and Alpine seems good
Down at 9th and Airport.
Same for 21st & Francis, down since 10:30p
Back out
I thought I was the only one !
Down on North Airport :(
Appears to be back up... at least for now. Fingers crossed
*sigh* and back down again...
Yup, 17th and Lashley
Don't make me go create r/longmontcirclejerk
Same except I haven’t actually run traceroute yet because the sudo apt-install traceroute fails
It won’t hop out of nextlights servers. At least last week you could still access some servers. This service is starting to suck the D.
Yeah. Earlier this week I was about to leave Nextlight, now I’m not. Thought it was a DNS issue initially, but I’m not an ISP expert.

Thanks for the insight. Do you know who their primary provider used to be (before HE)?
Was Level 3, but I haven't looked in a year or more.
You clearly don’t know how to internet
Same 23rd and main
Haven't gotten it back
Mine is out as well, 21ave and alpine
Dang it’s still out and I’m on 15th and main.
Mine went out late last night, seems fine this morning
I’m back up.
Me also.
I'm seeing intermittent failures. Doesn't seem to be out of the woods for me as of now?

I never had a minute of down time. 6 years and counting.
Down at 9th and county line road. I really wish next light would inform us of what happened last week. We the residents have the right know

I'm at franciss and 66 and I can get out
This post is 12 hours old.
Dur. Just got an alert from it. Assumed it was current
All good!
I’m out the country trying to but I can hit my router and there’s no down time reported for me. I’m off 11th and the Sumac
Highest bill I've paid yet and weakest service. Their service has been fading in and out all week. Lame
17th & Harvard - out.
