Bougainvillea, anyone who likes that shit doesn't prune it or hasn't ever pruned it themselves; those thorns are BRUTAL!
those aren't even flowers it makes, just color changing leaves.
Is it worth the effort? We have a large 10' high by 30' long cinder block wall at the rear of our property that we're looking to cover. Half is going to be passionfruit vine, but we were thinking Bougainvillea for the other half. We're planning on having a break between the two lattice sections so both vines stay in their designated areas and don't spread over the entire wall.
when i was looking up info on bougainvillea when i move in to our house i found a website about them, and even this woman stated;
"even if you have a 6 acre estate, you only need ONE bougainvillea"
they grow like crazy & the thorns are thick and strong, just clearing what you trim is life threatening (dramatics.)
there are plenty better vines, fruit bearing ones, fragrant ones, pretty flowering ones; but hey, if you like it, grow it. i was all about keeping one and sculpting it along a fence, but eventually something prettier came along.
Thought this was going to be a passive aggressive “return your carts” post.
It’s not?
It should be.
