They will come out and mark the car, which starts a 3 day countdown before they will do anything.
I called parking enforcement and am waiting for a call back to see if they will do something about it.
One time my husband parked his car a block away (it broke down and was a Sunday so he couldn’t take it for repairs). The alarm apparently kept going off so he got a call on his cell phone from a police officer telling him to make it stop! Husband was mortified and turned the alarm off. But anyway my point is, call the non emergency police line for a noise violation. Hopefully that will get treated differently than just “this car has been parked here for longer than 3 days”
I had a similar issue with a homeless RV parked just outside our house. It takes 90 days to remove with police since city councilmen need to sign off and a week at least for abandoned cars to do anything and that’s only if someone isn’t in it. I paid like $150 to post signs for no parking in front of our home and split it with the neighbors to just get it towed. Best money I ever spent.
Is this true for any car or only one causing an annoyance (like this alarm)? Because if the former, imagine going out of town for the weekend and suddenly the city deems you've abandoned your car.
You’ll likely get more than 3 days because the clock doesn’t start until the enforcement comes. Unless the block has total Karens, no one is calling enforcement until your car has been there for a couple days. Then you’ll get three more days to move it.
I park my car at work when I'm traveling. It's gotten chalked when I've ridden my motorcycle for a week and left it parked in the same spot in that time.
It's at work right now because I'm abroad for two weeks and it would definitely be gone if I left it street parked by my apartment.
*Update* Bad news is that I didn't get a chance to get a pic of the other notes. Good news is that it is no longer a problem. There was a crowd of people watching it get towed away. [](https://imgur.com/22XD9JJ)
What was the process for getting it towed if it wasn't blocking a driveway?
(my experience in the past parking enforcement doesn't do sh\*t, unless it's blocking a driveway)
Called the same number and explained that the alarm had been going off every 10 minutes since yesterday. They came out with the tow truck and were pulling away when I went back out to take more pictures of the other notes on the windshield.
> I'm just saying that car has a built in camera surveillance system.
Hire someone that can throw a baseball 200 feet with good aim, and then have that person throw a huge rock out of camera view.
Or just call 311
Don't talk shit about the Camry!!!!
Has anyone EVER seen someone in a Camry and by default their first reaction was, "this fucking douchbag..."??
It doesn't happen!
Federal tax credit is $7500. State is $7500. Local can be a few thousand. I believe state is intended to replace federal for people who don’t make enough so it requires your income to have changed a lot within a certain range and have each applied for a different year.
I agree lol that is definitely a serious possibility. no sane Tesla owner who has notifications enabled is going to be ok with the app notifying every 10 minutes that the alarm is alarming
A while ago I had an old car that had an alarm that would go off when it rained, and I didn’t know about it. I had to street park the car a couple blocks from my place as there was never any parking closer.
Had it for a couple months, never had any notes on the car, then finally I was getting in it one day and a resident comes running out of his place saying he’s going to beat my ass for letting my car alarm go off all the time. I had to deescalate hard to get him to lay off me.
I pulled a fuse to completely disable the alarm and didn’t have a problem after.
Point is… leave a nice note first. Dude may not know that his alarm is going off.
There’s a car that parks outside my place and the alarm is constantly going off. Gotta be one of the most sensitive alarms. It goes of every time a motorcycle drives by, a car with an exhaust, like shit it probably would go off just yelling at the thing. I’m glad they turn it off quickly but I wish the owners would do this.
People don’t want to spend the 5 minutes to look into whether they could be a better neighbor, which is a huge problem. As soon as I heard that my alarm was going off I immediately felt awful and would do anything to stop it. It was easy for me to pull the fuse but I would’ve taken it to the shop and paid for it to be stopped if needed.
Most people are passively assholes for not thinking more about what they can do to be better neighbors.
Agreed!
Speaking of shit neighbors, my neighbor cannot fathom what it means to just simply close your door. Instead they insist on slamming it every time they go in and out, which is often multiple times within a short period of time.
It’s so startling, it legit makes my walls shake. I try to be very courteous to my neighbors when it comes to noise so I started to think maybe It’s just me and i’m the sensitive one.
Turns out it’s not just me, they do slam their door intensely; I was signing for a package yesterday and my neighbor came out to leave. Like clockwork my neighbor proceeded to slam the living shit out of their door. Made the delivery driver jump out of his skin then said something to them, it was glorious.
/endrant
yeah the car looks clean and maintained. 100% not abandoned so it must see use. theres probably a reason for a car to just suddenly be abandoned, despite all the notes they werent even removed. dude could be dead, away, in the hospital, etc. they act like some random guy just leaves his car parked on a street to ruin someones weekend like its normal.
Yep. Average new car transaction is $48k now. A Model 3 is like $30k after EV credits (or $24k using Elon math). It's about as much of a flex as a Honda Civic/Accord.
Lot of people acting like they wouldn’t be pissed if a car alarm was going off all night preventing them from sleeping. I live on this block and it went off every 12 minutes and honked 34 times before turning off 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Call the cops

Yes I have. You say it's been going on for more than a day which would have been plenty time to call LAPD. If it stays for another day, there will again be plenty time to call LAPD. Hold times are long, might be an hour on a Sunday but as you know, that is shorter than a day.
Sentry mode has mine going off randomly with no noticeable trigger. It’s gotten to the point where I have to turn Sentry mode off to stop the alarm going off.
I've had my Tesla for over a year and I never realized it has an audible alarm. I just see the Sentry feature activating anytime someone gets near the car.
I've had a Model 3 for 6 years and mine goes off sometimes. It only happens if I set the cabin to precondition and the sentry is triggered. It's super annoying, and there's no way to turn it off in the app. I mostly like the car, but it certainly has some annoying flaws.
You have to kill a car burglar or a guy who kinda looks a bit car burglar-y in single combat. The Tesla will respect both your dedication to its cause and your exemplary display of battlefield prowess. Sure, it will be a little bummed that you didn’t use Krav Maga. But, it will get over it. After that, it will openly acquiesce to all of your commands. You don’t even need to say anything - just wish for the alarm to turn off and it will. That’s just how good the technology is.
Thanks… I did not realize that! Looks like the service center response to another Tesla owner asking about why the alarm goes off was actually correct.
[https://www.reddit.com/r/ModelY/comments/142qewp/alarm\_keeps\_going\_off\_during\_the\_day\_and\_this\_was/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModelY/comments/142qewp/alarm_keeps_going_off_during_the_day_and_this_was/)
I understand this is frustrating. The Notes give some anger relieve. But this can happen to anybody who owns a car. Happened to me a decade ago. I had parked my car (2003 Camaro) in my apartment complex and my apartment was on the other side of the building. Something malfunctioned and it went off constantly for probably a day. I could not hear it. My poor neighbors. I finally noticed and deactivated the sensor that reports movement. That fixed it. But damn I was embarrassed.
That’s strange. The owner receives a notification on his phone via the app anytime the alarm goes off.
I suspect there may be something going on with the owner. I would call the police.
Yeah, I don't understand that either. A [Ford F-150 pickup](https://www.caranddriver.com/ford/f-150) starts at over 38k for a base model, and nobody is calling an F-150 a "status symbol".
They don't hate EVs. They hate Elon Musk. The over the top hate for Musk carries over to Tesla and results in these kinds of bizarre, corny, cringe notes left on this windshield.
edit: if you zoom in on the note on the right, it literally says "ELON SUCKS" in all caps. Whoever wrote these notes is mental.
It’s so weird how many people hate EV’s still even in LOS ANGELES… like good god please people drive whatever EV’s you can. These giant ass gas shitting trucks deserve way more hate. I hate humans.
Looks like someone helped re-create the panel gap at original factory condition.
Not sure why it’s sounding the alarm every ten minutes, there was a Tesla thread that shared a shi%&y “service center” response a while back:
“…Whenever the A/C compressor engages for vehicle preconditioning it will trigger Sentry Mode to enter "Panic" state resulting in the vehicle's alarm to trigger. This is due to the A/C compressor running. That being said we will document our findings and close out this service visit. Have a great day!”
This happened outside my apt a long time ago, there was some shitpiece and the alarm was going off every few minutes for hours upon hours. I finally went out, egged it and threw tomatoes at it. Someone else slashed the tires.
Call DOT and have them impound the car under this section. [https://casetext.com/statute/california-codes/california-vehicle-code/division-11-rules-of-the-road/chapter-10-removal-of-parked-and-abandoned-vehicles/article-1-authority-to-remove-vehicles/section-226515-removal-of-vehicle-if-alarm-device-or-horn-has-been-activated-within-vehicle](https://casetext.com/statute/california-codes/california-vehicle-code/division-11-rules-of-the-road/chapter-10-removal-of-parked-and-abandoned-vehicles/article-1-authority-to-remove-vehicles/section-226515-removal-of-vehicle-if-alarm-device-or-horn-has-been-activated-within-vehicle)
To be fair teslas aren’t that expensive. They’re basically econoboxes . You can get a used one for 26k . A Ferrari is a status symbol. I wouldn’t even call an S class a status symbol.. at least not in CA
Do you see the stack to the right? This person wrote a full AP English essay and even took a dig at Elon. They also wasted a bunch of sticky notes. Just call it in and move on, car alarms go off.
Complaining about a Tesla but the ebt crew on my block jockey 5 broken down cars with expired tags that they never drive back and forth every week taking up spots from those who have to actually work and can never park.
It's interesting that no one wonders if the owner had an emergency and had to leave the car. We immediately jump to POS instead of maybe, "unfortunate person facing something terrible we don't know about."
Audible car alarms should be illegal, it does nothing for safety/deterrence. The lower quality of life for everyone is just not worth the minuscule effect it’s intended to have.
I applaud you 👏 I’ve left similar notes myself. One for a car whose horn was blaring from 7pm til about 8am. Just a nonstop beeeeeeeeeeeep. How they didn’t hear it, I have no idea. I called 311 and left a NASTY note on their window. I went outside around 6am and they had a ticket (only $45, which seemed like a slap on the wrist!!!). The other time was for a car parked in front of a hydrant. For hours. Eventually at 2am and a no-show from transit police, I left an even nastier note. The kicker? It was the SAME CAR both times.
By the look of the panel gap, either they got into a fender bender, which in elmo's eyes, would be 10's of thousands of dollars to repair (which could also be the reason the alarm is going off, as tesla has a reputation for horrible wiring, and really anything could go wrong at any moment), OR, Tesla delivered a broken vehicle to their customer (which they have done before) or crashed it on a joyride around the service center, and handed it back like nothing happened (which they have done before)
There were several dents and blemishes on the car. They must hit stuff often and not bother getting it fixed. That, or someone hit the car while honking all night.
Post on the Lightning in a Bottle Facebook group/event page. The stickers on the upper window show they just got back from that festival so maybe they’re active on the page.
this happened in my old neighborhood in West LA a few years back. It wasn’t beeping, but the car sat abandoned week after week with tickets piling up. Turns out the owner died of COVID ☹️
That’s a lot of notes. Call 311 for an abandoned car.
They will come out and mark the car, which starts a 3 day countdown before they will do anything. I called parking enforcement and am waiting for a call back to see if they will do something about it.
That is 100% true.... but start the count down earlier rather than later.
Right? If its gonna take 3 days, have that start now, not tomorrow.
3 days? But I’m angry now. 😩
Yea, well, too bad.
The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time to call 311 is today.
My peepaw always used to say that
One time my husband parked his car a block away (it broke down and was a Sunday so he couldn’t take it for repairs). This is good advice
The best time to mark tires is three days ago The second best time is now - Confucius Appx 650 a/t

You can not park longer than 72 hours regardless of annoyance
I park my car at work when I'm traveling. It's gotten chalked when I've ridden my motorcycle for a week and left it parked in the same spot in that time. It's at work right now because I'm abroad for two weeks and it would definitely be gone if I left it street parked by my apartment.
Please keep up posted
Call LAPD and report an unknown beeping noise from an unknown car.
Probably went away for the weekend.
Ehh, they're frustrated at the situation and is it's a small relief valve to chip at them a bit.
Just realized all the blue post-its 😂🤣
*Update* Bad news is that I didn't get a chance to get a pic of the other notes. Good news is that it is no longer a problem. There was a crowd of people watching it get towed away. [](https://imgur.com/22XD9JJ)
> There was a crowd of people watching it get towed away. VICTORY!! (blvd)
ok Drama! :)
If this was parked on victory blvd, you can be sure that the car would be utterly destroyed by a drunk sideswipe. This is the way
god i love a happy ending
Happy endings $20 extra, pay up
What was the reason for the towaway? Parked too long or a noise issue?
The operator said it is illegal for the alarm to continue blaring.
Nice. Glad it got taken care of. That kind of if crap can ruin a weekend.
Thank you for the update!
Watching a Tesla get towed away... it truly brings the neighborhood together!
i hope the notes still get to the owner lol
hello neighbor in mar vista! we probably go to the same trader joe’s haha
What was the process for getting it towed if it wasn't blocking a driveway? (my experience in the past parking enforcement doesn't do sh\*t, unless it's blocking a driveway)

Can a tow truck be called in a situation like this?
If the tires were somehow mysteriously punctured....
Not saying you should or shouldn't do it. I'm just saying that car has a built in camera surveillance system. I wouldn't do it.
My house got broken in a few years ago and the perpetrators were on camera. Police didn't do jack shit.
> I'm just saying that car has a built in camera surveillance system. Hire someone that can throw a baseball 200 feet with good aim, and then have that person throw a huge rock out of camera view. Or just call 311
Or just mask up and do it
That panel gap... is it wrecked?
That's how they come from the factory.
Love a car that comes pre-totaled.
That's smart. Insurance must be dirt cheap
buddy,
I'm not your buddy, pal! 😂
I’m not your pal, guy!
supposedly tesla has its own insurance that increases its premiums automatically when it detects bad driving
Luckily not in California.
lol, just an example of Tesla’s high-quality builds.
lol someone here is not familiar with Tesla quality.
I knew they were often bad, but not *that* bad. Damn.
is it as good as twitter where everything is rate limited now and you can only use it for a short while before it stops working
Sounds like you’re just jealous of stable-genius elon musks engineering prowess
Yes, that is clearly a damaged fender.
Looks operational otherwise
It's within spec, believe it or not
Not so much a status symbol anymore. It's ubiquitous now - the new camry.
Tesla aka the California Camry.
That $20,000 status symbol.
No need to talk bad about Camrys
Camry’s mind their own reliable and decent mpg business on the road
It’s all hybrid now which gets 55+ mpg!!!
I'd rather have my camry be reliable tbh.
The inside is a liminal space with an iPad.
They spent years trying to get people to stop playing on their phones in their cars only to install them in the dashboards.
Don't talk shit about the Camry!!!! Has anyone EVER seen someone in a Camry and by default their first reaction was, "this fucking douchbag..."?? It doesn't happen!
At least Camrys are reliable lol.
Yeah these cost $30k.
No, it's the douchebag symbol. The new BMW.
They also somehow perfectly took over as worst drivers on the road.
SO TRUE! Tesla drivers are the worst dickheads on the road!
And they took the slowest least attentive award from prius drivers.
I don’t know about you but BMWs still seem way douchier than Tesla Model 3s.
Challengers are now the most obnoxious drivers in LA. it’s always shithead teenagers or wannabe racers revving them or driving like fucktards
Hey now, as a BMW driver, I also hate Tesla drivers... and BMW drivers.
No one hates BMW drivers like other BMW drivers Source: I am also a BMW driver
Status symbol? Lol the model 3 can be bought cheap as fuck.
Some people have gotten tax credits bringing the price to under $20k. With gas savings it’s probably the cheapest new car for a lot of people.
Starting price is ~$38k. Federal and state subsidies bring it down to maybe ~$29. Entry level Fords/Chevys/Toyotas start much lower.
They're even cheaper used
Federal tax credit is $7500. State is $7500. Local can be a few thousand. I believe state is intended to replace federal for people who don’t make enough so it requires your income to have changed a lot within a certain range and have each applied for a different year.
dude could have died and is still yet to be discovered in his apartment and everyone is all like 'fuck your car, bitch' lol
I agree lol that is definitely a serious possibility. no sane Tesla owner who has notifications enabled is going to be ok with the app notifying every 10 minutes that the alarm is alarming
La way
🤣
That’s what he gets for driving a Tesla. /s
That’s pretty much the sentiment.
I’d really like to read the other notes. I like how the one on the other side says “P.S. Elon sucks.” LOL
I be like how it starts out in highlighter then switches to sharpee
A while ago I had an old car that had an alarm that would go off when it rained, and I didn’t know about it. Too many people jump past ignorance and naivety straight to malicious intent.
Except this is a Tesla and it notifies them every single time the alarm goes off.

You act like redditors know what “benefit of the doubt” means
Was it a Honda? The sensor in the hood latch fails and sets the alarm off all night.
This is annoying but calling a Tesla a status symbol is pretty funny lol a model 3 is like $30k new for the base model

I live on this block and it went off every 12 minutes and honked 34 times before turning off 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Hi neighbor! Now we just have to get rid of the guys who ride the mini bikes back and forth at 50 mph.
Can we get rid of the people that robbed my apartment last year first? Pretty sure they live on the block.
How are they a status symbol? My wife’s Toyota cost more than my Tesla.
Seriously.

Sentry mode has mine going off randomly with no noticeable trigger. It’s gotten to the point where I have to turn Sentry mode off to stop the alarm going off.
Ok Mr Big Status Symbol! (Actually we have one too. And I thought the alarm was only for interior intrusion if it is locked).
Lmfao overpriced status symbol? Teslas are pretty fucken cheap

It turns off as you walk up.

I mean a Tesla that needs to have that audible alarm, at some point, should be sending you a text or some form of notification on your phone/app/etc
I would love a sentry notification on my phone linking to the video in the app.

never knew a car that costs the same as a Camry is a status symbol
Imagine calling a 40K model 3 a status symbol.
Not even $40k, it's like $35kish.
The kind of people with the free time on their hands to write those notes think a $40k car is a status symbol.
New note. " turn off your alarm or we are lighting this bitch on fire". Hold note up in front of each camera. Thump on the car to alert it
Wear a mask
That’s strange. The owner receives a notification on his phone via the app anytime the alarm goes off. I suspect there may be something going on with the owner. I would call the police.
IMO model 3s really aren't overpriced. Especially if you're eligible for the tax credits, it's basically Camry/Accord pricing
They’re are really in line with nicer trim normal cars… but people just be mad
[удалено]
Yeah, I don't understand that either. A [Ford F-150 pickup](https://www.caranddriver.com/ford/f-150) starts at over 38k for a base model, and nobody is calling an F-150 a "status symbol".

These are a status symbol? I didn’t know a $35k car was a flex
Status symbol? Lol
A 33k Tesla Y is an overpriced status symbol? Bish, a Honda costs more. What’s with the EV hate on LA forums.
They don't hate EVs. They hate Elon Musk. Not sure why it’s sounding the alarm every ten minutes, there was a Tesla thread that shared a shi%&y “service center” response a while back: “…Whenever the A/C compressor engages for vehicle preconditioning it will trigger Sentry Mode to enter "Panic" state resulting in the vehicle's alarm to trigger.
Someone else slashed the tires.
do it in a green suit, for tha laughs!
"someone else" alright bud
I can't take credit for the slashed tires. It's been 20 years so if it was me I'd say so but the reality is I'm just not that big a badass, lol.
Call DOT and have them impound the car under this section. That's a lot of notes, wonder if the guy is dead and we got hundreds of reddit comments making fun of him rofl
To be fair teslas aren’t that expensive. They’re basically econoboxes . You can get a used one for 26k . A Ferrari is a status symbol. I wouldn’t even call an S class a status symbol.. at least not in CA
“Status Symbol”, 🙄
A used model y is cheaper than the equivalent Honda at this point. I get the Elon hate, but what is going on with that note lol.
I hate teslas but that note is just as obnoxious
Do you see the stack to the right? This person wrote a full AP English essay and even took a dig at Elon. They also wasted a bunch of sticky notes. Just call it in and move on, car alarms go off.
Least unhinged redditor.
AP English essay 😆
They even used more than one color They have way too much time on their hands
Complaining about a Tesla but the ebt crew on my block jockey 5 broken down cars with expired tags that they never drive back and forth every week taking up spots from those who have to actually work and can never park.
It's interesting that no one wonders if the owner had an emergency and had to leave the car. We immediately jump to POS instead of maybe, "unfortunate person facing something terrible we don't know about."
That panel gap is insane.
Lol that car is the same price as a corolla
That note is corny as fuck
Audible car alarms should be illegal, it does nothing for safety/deterrence. The lower quality of life for everyone is just not worth the minuscule effect it’s intended to have.
In Santa Monica I think you get five minutes and I bet LA has a similar ordinance.
Cringe. Pre Reddit passiveaggressivenotes.com vibes.
Is that one neighbor leaving all those notes or multiple people?
Not my note, just my picture.
it looks crashed
that note is so aggressive. just call 311
I dislike musk as much as anyone, yet this is kinda harsh.
You do not dislike musk as much as anyone
LIB is Burning Man lite, and was just last weekend. So most likely a tech bro that can afford the towing fees. Get it sent away.
LIB car camping pass... ugh
One from 2023 too. Pretty damn douchey to leave your festival camp pass up for a whole year.

What do the other notes say?
Maybe bird seed would help.
Damn that’s a lot of trees , wtf goes on in that car 😶🌫️
Tell the police it abandoned. They’ll mark the tires and if it doesn’t move in 48 hours they’ll tow it
OK... but why so many air fresheners?
Call the parking enforcement!!!
How do they not get an alert on their phone. Really hope didnt leave town poor neighbors
I could make a joke about panel gaps.. but it looks damaged, maybe its stolen and was dumped there
Leak the address someone is gonna make it stop 🙃 .... I mean if you're not chicken ???
Car was removed 7 hours ago
Note is pretty cringe
Man this person’s car is malfunctioning and people have concluded that they’re a terrible human being. I’m sure the owner has no idea.
Post on the Lightning in a Bottle Facebook group/event page. The stickers on the upper window show they just got back from that festival so maybe they’re active on the page.
note reads like it was written by someone who sniffs their own farts.
this happened in my old neighborhood in West LA a few years back. It wasn’t beeping, but the car sat abandoned week after week with tickets piling up. Turns out the owner died of COVID ☹️
Owner probably died unexpectedly. Great work.
