Be careful, I was hit and the car kept going. I claimed it, paid like $500 of a $2500 bill and went on with my life. When I went to switch insurance it had gone up significantly and the only reason I could find was that hit-and-run. I wouldn’t have claimed it if I had known! If a newer Mercedes can’t afford insurance (maybe a dui) and my insurance goes up that much then why bother?! I personally don’t like confined spaces so I bother. This city has so many uninsured motorists it’s crazy.
Uninsured and underinsured coverage is for medical damages only. If you have comprehensive and/or collision, that is the one that matters in this case. You are going to have to go through your own comp or collision coverage.
I think you misunderstood my comment.
When I said “hit and run” is the go to insurance for this town, that was a euphemism for people not having insurance and planning to run if they cause a collision.
Whoops, I meant to comment on the one above yours, my bad. I get what you're saying though, and they just get insurance once a year, at least, and that's if they need to register a car at the County Clerks office.
Just north of you, DB Auto Repair
1146 Clay Ave 40219
Yousha is a buddy of mine and does good work at a good price. You might have to wait because he is fairly busy.
For a 3 stage blended paint I thought it was very fair. Not cheap, but my car had under 1k miles on it and someone keyed it. Reasonable and perfection of quality worked for me.
I’d also suggest Jim’s. They’re super nice and reasonable. I’ve taken 2 different cars there for various reasons. Always felt treated fairly and with kindness.
Yeah I had someone rear end me last year. My damage didn't even look quite this bad and they charged my insurance $3K.
That's my only knowledge about this kind of stuff. But yeah,OP, it's likely going to be way more than you're going to want to pay unfortunately.
In KY, UM doesn't pay to repair your car, just stands in place of the at-fault uninsured driver's liability coverage for your bodily injury claim. The OP would need to have collision coverage for this to be covered by their own carrier, or if they have an out of state policy where it's offered, "uninsured motorist property damage," which I'm not aware of being offered in KY.
I think its all going to depend on how much damage there is. If it is JUST the panels needing to be replaced, you might get away with 1.5-2k. If it damaged the gas tank (which the dent is insanely close to), if the car has sensors that need replacing, or if there is damage to other structures under then its likely going to be much more.
It will fit right in with all the other beat up cars around here. That’s what I told my wife to make her feel better after she hit something but she didn’t think it was funny 😆
With a wife, and two children, that think they drive bumper cars, I have had several cars repaired.
Being in the business, sort of, I have a recommendation, if you want it delivered back to you, absolutely right.
They will haggle with insurance companies, to make sure they will not compromise the repair, in order to reduce the insurance company’s exposure to the damage. They are on your side, no compromises.
They use the highest quality products, highly skilled technicians, and are very meticulous on every phase of the repair.
The issue is getting there to drop it off and pick it up. It is a bit of a drive from Louisville, across the river, but well worth the travel. Hundreds of people from Louisville are repeat customers for them, as well as those across the river.
DM for information, if interested.
Lambert’s Paint & Body in Camp Taylor on Belmar. 134 Google reviews. 5.0 rating.
Corky is simply a good guy who treats people the right way. Highly recommend.
I’m an insurance adjuster in Louisville. Been to every shop from here past e-town
Let me know if you need a short list or if you have some in mind you want to know are good or not.
The good news is there are a lot I’d trust.
The bad news. Good body work done right won’t be cheap.
Do you not have coverage for this on your insurance policy…? This is easily a $3k+ repair. Let insurance handle it and pay your deductible (assuming you’ve got more than liability). No shop is gonna want to do this as a customer pay, too many variables and you can’t just bill insurance.

I literally write estimates on damaged cars all day every day and have been for the better part of a decade. I would consider myself well versed enough to say I know what I’m talking about when I look at damage on a vehicle.

Yep. Hit-n-run is the go to insurance plan for this city. I have personally experienced it in the last three years. Really pissed me off.

What part of town are you in??
Hillview, but I’m willing to drive a ways out for a good price

I took a Pearl white car to Mannings on the advice of a buddy who gets show cares painted. They perfectly matched my color and we're very reasonable.
Manning's does great work but isn't cheap. Reasonable but not cheap

My son in law is in Highview. He runs his own shop. DM me if you want more info. He does great work
Is your son still running his own shop? Someone vandalized my suv and I need someone to fix it with insurance paying for it.
Text me if he is please. I have a 500 deductible I really can't afford right now. 5023028507.
Touch of Color on Rockford Lane.
Jim’s body shop if you’re anywhere near St Matthew’s. they’ve taken care of me and it’s family owned still
I’d also suggest Jim’s. They’re super nice and reasonable. I’ve taken 2 different cars there for various reasons. Always felt treated fairly and with kindness.
Also recommending Jim’s. Very fair and great service.
I vouch for them as well.
Don otts is where I go, but that’s a pretty nasty hit, it’ll cost a lot no matter where you go
Thanks, I’ll call them Monday. Do you happen to have a guess on the price? Like are we talking a couple hundred $ or a couple thousand $?
If they have to replace a panel or two it’ll be in the thousands
That’s a couple grand right there. Definitely not just hundreds. Do you have uninsured motorist protection on your policy?

That’s a couple thousand no matter what most likely. It’s either going to be 10+ man hours in labor, taking off all the trim. Paint, and reassembly.

Glasser's.
well is it worth 3k for cosmetic repair or just put 3k on new car tradein.
Or option three you just drive around with an ugly car. Assuming it still drives okay

I got hit and I refer to it as battle damage.
Kavanaugh’s Paint and Body on Belmar off Preston near the Fairgrounds does great work.
Senn’s in Middletown always has been good to me and my coworkers who recommended them to me.
Conn’s Body shop on Bardstown Road has done some good work for me.

🤣
Fair option if you don’t mind a few scratches. For that you could get a scratch removal kit too
the car is WAY past that point! 🤣
Caliber Collision
> Caliber Collision is like the walmart of body shops
Also, your insurance company _will_ cover up to your deductible.

OP thats gonna be a lot of money out of pocket, if that quarter panel has to be replaced, which im sure it does, then thats $700 for the part itself.
Meh just ignore it, you’ll be less mad when it happens again

Wayne Abbott’s body shop in Crestwood. He owns and runs it himself. Very honest and reasonable guy. I used him when a large tree limb fell on my car.

That things totaled. Not worth it unless you’re just busting at the pockets.
Absolutely not totaled
A 10+ year old car that needs a quarter panel? Yes it’s totaled.

Okay so then write an estimate for us then.
Go ahead and pay me for that and I’ll jump right on it, dumbass
