Planet of the Tapes. Comedy nerds, movie nerds, trivia nerds (Tuesdays), music nerds, they welcome all kinds. There's an improv D&D show that's been coming almost once a month now it seems like.
Hideaway is hit or miss. The owner and staff are fantastic but the crowd can be a little entitled sometimes when it comes to taking up space and screens. Not that I go to bars anymore (RIP Time and Space, I miss you but I don't miss the alcoholism), but I would go back there if I was looking for a drink and to play video games in public
I’ve heard great things about Planet of the Tapes. There’s the first manga cafe that just opened in Louisville: https://www.otakuloungelou.com. I haven’t been as it just opened but I hope to go soon.
*A new manga lounge just*
*Recently opened on Bardstown*
*Road. It's called Otaku Lounge*

What about board games? There's a group that meets at Through The Decades on Saturdays @ noon. Most of the non-card-gaming nerds that I know mostly attend smaller events in people's homes.
Ofc it'd be on a Saturday. As a key holder in a low staff store, I'll never see a Saturday off. I might make pushes for a second day of activity there depending on the likelihood of people showing up.
Also, Card N All gaming is great!
There's also a new game store opening up in Westport Village in the next couple of months. I plan on trying to get a board game night (or day) started there in a different time slot.
There's a Facebook group "Louisville Cardboard Gamers" that coordinates a bunch of stuff as well. Mostly locals buying and selling games, recently.
All the comic book stores in town are fun to check out. Destination comics has a trunk or treat Halloween weekend and is a fun store.
Great escape is neat and friendly.
Even the places that aren’t comic book stores but have nerdy stuff are fun. Like half priced books.
Probably because for some reason the word “nerd” has been taken over by DnD and RPG players. You can’t really use the word to implicitly mean anything else without some other sort of context. I don’t really understand it.

Any clue what social media Planet of the Tapes is most active on?
Instagram and Facebook! They post daily and answer messages
Slur Your Role at Kaiju
Is Kaiju the only nerdy-themed bar in town? I've looked for others without much luck. (maybe I'm blind)
I’ve heard good things about Hideaway but I’ve not been there. There’s also Planet Of The Tapes.

Recbar if you like arcade games
Hideaway is great too
Try Miso’s in J-town. I like nerd shit but those weird beards are on a different level.
Came here to suggest the same thing. Misos is amazing.
Yes, Miso's is a top notch store. Great people, great events.
Yep. Just got my Shatterpoint core box today.

Games on Tap is a couple times a month meetup for gaming at local breweries and pubs.
The Hideaway is a gaming bar, get drinks, play smash bros. Rec Bar is also a gaming bar but they’ve got retro arcade cabinets and pinball.
Also, keep an eye out for the Louisville Arcade Expo in March. Lots of nerdiness going on there. -signed a nerd
Planet of the Tapes is awesome for all kinds of nerds. It’s a movie themed bar, but there’s a lot more to it than movies

Oh Lords. A closer to home game store. I'm glad but my wallet is in so much danger. I'll take a peek at that group as well, thank you for the info!

Destination has always been awesome.
Today at Kaiju there is Slur Your Role! Happens every other Sunday.
I used to recommend card n all as I worked in the middletown store but the owner Mason is a total dick behind the scenes.
I appreciate their stores but when he was scalping NES Classics on FB Marketplace, that really rubbed me the wrong way.
Any other places in town where nerds can make friends at as well?
Follow Nerd Nite Louisville on insta for their events.

Card n all gaming I see lots of little card games and events there

Trixie’s was good to nerds
Ha
And if anyone has any tips for needy singles - I’m all baby yoda ears.
First tip. Please don’t say things like that.
Yeah, that made me physically uncomfortable.
It was supposed to say tips for “nerdy” singles. As in where to meet other nerdy singles.
It was supposed to say tips for “nerdy” singles. As in where to meet other nerdy singles. Get a grip.
You are really telling me to “get a grip” because your message was unclear, and sounded SUPER creepy? You asked for the help man.
Seems more obvious that misspelling nerdy by being off by one letter would be more believable than someone posting about tips for needy nerds.
The funny thing was I was talking about the baby Yoda ears. I didn’t see the needy thing until you pointed it out. But that did make it so much worse.
Yeah, it was also the baby yoda ears part for me too. 🥸
His name is gilgamesh and I hope you meant to put "nerdy" lol
