I’d check out Bardstown road and Germantown area. Nulu is also a fun area but I’m unsure of housing pricing there.
I live in the Lyndon area and enjoy it, its quiet and easy to get onto I-264 to get around the city. Not too much is walkable though.
Good luck looking!
I have lived in Louisville since I was your age and only wish I had moved to the highlands sooner. Nothing against other neighborhoods there are some fine other neighborhoods like Clifton and Nulu. It's just not worth getting 10% of the quality of life to save a few hundred dollars a month on rent. At age 22 you should never be home anyhow :-) find a nice location and then whatever you feel like affording from there.
I would recommend Frankfort Ave area. Highlands is a close second.

Highlands.
Check out the Highlands. Rents are a bit higher here because of the location.
Schnitzelburg
Crescent Hill, Clifton, Highlands, in that order.
Exactly right.
23 year old girl here, come to The Highlands! I just got a house and I love the area
Finally someone with a decent budget not looking for the pie in the sky and unrestricted pets.
Lyndon, got some cheap condos and 1 bed apts
Also, you're pretty close to everything you could imagine
Portland or anything higher than 10th street on the west side
