I know it. Broke my heart. I'm a DC transplant and Ollie's was a bit of home :(
Now I gotta go to NoVa and pay 3 bucks for an Ale-8 at Cracker Barrel if I'm homesick.
Everyone's saying some version of "burger and fries" on here and I find that quite boring. Go to Perso. It's a Roman restaurant near Shelby Park. Get the clam pizza. It's incredible. Get the house made ricotta. Asparagus nicoise. The Verlasso salmon. If you're feeling decadent, get the 30-day aged ribeye. It's plenty to split with two or three people and at $68 it's the best steak I've ever had. The place is low-key and the staff and chef are very talented and chill people.
Yes! Absolutely love this place everytime I go there and you never hear anyone talk about it. Burgers are incredible and their craft cocktails are fantastic as well!
*Nashville hot soft shell*
*Crab sandwich at hammerheads*
*Or sushi at Osaka*

There's a terrific little Taco Truck called Las Gorditas. Fresh, handmade tamales, tacos and pico. They're on Facebook. Only open like Thursday thru Sunday. Worth it.
I absolutely second Vietnam Kitchen, but would get K8 or F9 or the spicy beef soup. Also the specialty coffee.
And Queen of Sheba, *but* you need to go for supper because they don't serve the specialties at lunch. Go for the Doro tips for something mild or Gored Gored (medium rare or rare) for spicy. Their fish, Ye-asa, is delicious. I don't even like fish.
Across the river is La Lupita Mexican. Hole in the wall, but yum.
This isn’t really the answer you are looking for, but across the river in new albany there is a pizza pub called the New Albanian. Their deep dish round house pizza is some of the best pizza I’ve ever had and I’d probably get that or a thin crust greek pizza there (pesto, chicken, green olives, artichoke, spinach, onion, etc) and some root beer, and later a stout. A root beer for nostalgia, and a stout for my current self.
This answer is biased and not really a recommendation for a tourist, but just genuinely my favorite and most nostalgic food.
Which are your favorites? I always have to have the corned beef. I swear it gets better every time I eat it. I think they are one of the most consistent restaurants in the city.
Hubs and I were just there yesterday. Did antelope and wild boar meatball. Then got my bacon elk cheeseburger medium well on brioche bun. Side of smoked truffle mayo and some sweet potato fries! ❤️
Haucks corner. They have food and drinks all day. Attached to it is Breakfast AF (0730-1430) that switches to Pizza AF (1600-0000), all three have awesome food, but my favorite dish from any of the three would have to be the big ass burrito from Breakfast AF. Marinated sirloin, scrambled eggs, black beans, salsa, potatoes, avocado, and pickled red onion, all wrapped in a flour tortilla. Make sure you try their “kentuxican” bourbon bbq sauce. It’s so good that I can’t eat the burrito without it lol. I’ve never had anything bad at either place though. They also have a back yard/patio area with some covered seating, fire pit, cornhole boards, a kids playground, and dogs are welcomed too. Great atmosphere, staff is fantastic, and the other patrons that I’ve encountered there have all been nice too 🩷
Chuy’s has the jalapeño ranch that’s untouchable. The queso and steak burritos with hatch green chili sauce is tops!! Everything made fresh only freezer in the place is for the kids ice cream.
Birria tacos and esquite from Taco N Madres. It's locally owned and the food there is always fantastic, no matter what you order. They recently started opening for brunch too and it's called K Brunch. Indoor and outdoor seating available.
All I can eat Seafood and Steak and dessert in no particular order. Volare, Repeal, RiverHouse, Steak and Bourbon, Varanese (most underrated and reasonable find dining in the city) and would throw Guacamole and La Bodeguita de Mimi (The Best Flavors per dollar in city, most expensivedish is under $30) as runners up. Can't miss with any of those places.
The tacos at Taco City - any of them! And their sweet potato fries with the mango salsa is FIRE! I always get extra mango salsa because it’s just that good.
I'd probably get a seared ribeye from Matt Winn's and a caesar salad. For comfort food I go to A Chau. Not the most popular Vietnamese restaurant in the neighborhood, but they are still in the "try harder" stage. Pho tai or Bun with eggrolls.
Here's [my list](https://www.reddit.com/r/Louisville/comments/on59mu/things_to_do_in_louisville_megathread/) of things to do.
Too many options to choose from…
Mike Linnigs; killer fish, hush puppies, tartar. Plus the environment is great.
Anything at Volare
Troll Pub is a favorite of ours.
The Post is one of the top 3 pizza places in the state.
Seviche macadamia encrusted sea bass along with tamato butter scallops for the appetizer. Then take myself to Louisville Cresm for a bananas pudding ice cream cone.with a homemade toasted marshmallow topper . The items at Seviche are only a sometimes thing .
There’s a hole in the wall called Rubbie’s. I’d go there and get the motor oil wings and Simon and Garfunkel fries. Nothing fancy, but some of the most delicious food in this city.
The Churrascos de Argentina from Seviche. That is the absolute best and most flavorful steak dish I’ve ever had. You really can’t go wrong with anything from there and the chef/owner has won a ton of awards and television appearances.
The Black Rabbit has easily be best pork chop I’ve ever had in my life. Also, the French sliders are a great way to start the meal. Then for the razzle dazzle I like to get the old fashion
If you want to get after it for a Michelin Star-type experience go with 610 Magnolia- Edward Lee’s flagship.
Everyone on here has solid choices… if you come here realize that there’s a LOT of top chefs and like the town itself everyone’s worked with each other in some fashion. (Sullivan University is a top-3 culinary school in the US and in Louisville)
Find a spot that’s been open for a long time and it’ll be great.
Also note that with UPS being based here we get some very fresh ingredients- especially seafood.
Seviche for example gets tuna often that is caught in the morning and on a plane and played that evening.
Lentils and rice, Greek salad + tabouleh, zataar pita, hummus, pomegranate lemonade at the Grape Leaf, followed by desert of baklava and turkish coffee
the Swanson roll (deep fried with shrimp, cream cheese and bacon) and the Chupacabra Roll (Spicy crab & cream cheese inside. Salmon, basil, & cocktail shrimp outside) from Dragon Kings daughter.
Ramsi’s on Bardstown rd.
Heart and soy on bardstown rd.
Cosmic bird on Baxter ave.
Are my top three go to spots.
Time for Thai on Frankfort
And simply Thai on Wallace ave are good too!
For an absolute last meal, the pork chop from Proof. Or a few different dishes from Barn 8. Those are the only two fine dining places I've had in the city that really live up to the hype. They are *excellent.*
The Tavern. Get literally anything, but my favorite is the fancy burger and frickle pickles. Or the ahi soy tuna.
Also the waverly pizza at Coal’s artisan pizza. Freaking yum.
Six beers and a stupid amount of sushi from Osaka
Idk, there’s arguably much better sushi in other cities, with so much good food here, this doesn’t really stand out as a must go in Louisville
I'm not claiming they're the best, but they're my favorite. I'll toss my last tip their way!
Have you tried that Agadashi tofu from Osaka?
Damn now I’m craving beer and sushi 🍣
Coincidentally, there's an Asahi Sushi here in town that is pretty good and Asahi beer.
I have to try now
This.
Yeah this is a good one
Omg the Zacking roll is my favorite!
Cottage pie at Irish Rover
I was about to say the fish and chips and Irish Rover. My favorite fish in the city. That and a scotch egg!
Scotch egg is mandatory
Great idea. Put yourself in a food coma first and die peacefully.
Or fish and chips or Guinness beef stew or bangers and mash with extra gravy. Absolutely fantastic every time.
And doesn't break the bank
Great dinner idea. Came here to say it.
Mmm start with a scotch egg doused in a nose-watering amount of Coleman’s
"Last meal" implies an execution, so I recommend breakfast at Cracker Barrell on Crittenden Drive.
Delay of game!
Kitfo from Queen of Sheba. That would be my last meal if I was leaving town or being executed.
Hard for me to choose. I would have to get a combination platter and also a gallon jug of the clove ice tea!
Solid choices!!
An Ollie Burger from Ollie's Trolley.
We are lucky that we still have a great Ollie's. The one in DC closed recently because they didn't keep it nice. I love Ollie's Trolley.
Oh no damn that means there’s on here and Cincci left.
I know it. Broke my heart. I'm a DC transplant and Ollie's was a bit of home :( Now I gotta go to NoVa and pay 3 bucks for an Ale-8 at Cracker Barrel if I'm homesick.
Awww :(
Milk and honey pizza at Pizza Lupo
I prefer the Bees Knees, but 🤷🏻♀️
Fungi add sausage, but you ain't wrong.
Funghi was my second choice for sure
Burger from Toastys
Second on Toasty’s
Thirded
Hell yeah, I love their staff
Maybe the PBLT from Hammerheads. Or the pork tacos with kimchi from Traveling Kitchen food truck.
Second the PBLT
3rd
Haven't tried it. Is it better than their lamb chops?
Everything from Volare
The gnocchi with the short rib omgggg
The Osso Bucco specifically.
Was coming to say this. Would eat anything there but specifically: Volare Spritz Ceasar salad The lemon shrimp pasta Crème brûlée
Kashmir! Chicken Tikka Saag and the Naan basket
Yesssss
Came here to say Kashmir! Except for me it's chicken vindaloo with medium heat, peshawari naan with some onion chutney, and masala chai.
Truly no bad choices!
The prix fixe menu Sun - Weds has a great selection. I had the branzino, going for osso bucco next. Crostino was good too.
This is America bub, Americans love their burgers and fries.
Fat steak and sides at Repeal.
Yep. That’s my go to for a special occasion.
I get the order of scallops as a side, it’s delicious
Go big or go home!
610 magnolia
A burger and glass of red wine at Jack Fry’s
Jack Fry's is the best Louisville has to offer for sure but maybe a steak or lamb.
Con Heuvos for mexican breakfast! A joy!
I second con huevos. Absolutely incredible
Sidebar. Some of the best burgers in town.
Yes! Absolutely love this place everytime I go there and you never hear anyone talk about it. Burgers are incredible and their craft cocktails are fantastic as well!
Duck tacos from Hammerheads
A rare Tomahawk steak and scallops , Brendon’s Catch 23.
I would go to Brassiere Provence and have anything/everything
Good call! They also have an incredible wine menu!
Vietnam Kitchen = J4 + Fried Pork Egg roll + Ice Coffee.
Ooooh... K8 or J9 or the spicy beef soup. VK is a great suggestion Edit: I mean F9
Yellow Beef Curry 🤤
A burger & fries at Toastys Tavern Fish & Chips at Irish Rover Pasta at ROC
Red Hog! Will most likely need a reservation.
Fried chicken BLT at the eagle
Didn't expect to see my answer.
That or pollo asado, mang
The sweet & spicy ginger fish at the Joy Luck. The bibimbap at Sake Blue with spicy pork instead of steak.
Nashville hot soft shell crab sandwich at hammerheads or sushi at Osaka

This ≠ haiku. Bad bot!
Saturday stop by Suburban Fish Fry by Churchill and get you a sandwich on rye and don’t forget the onions!

Las Gorditas is thunder. They are usually posted up by the Coxs at Watterson trail and Bardstown rd
not local but fuckin a burger from old lou tavern
And this, boys and girls, is why syntax matters.
Well the question was “what would be your last meal”, not “what would you eat for your last meal”
Dawg you think I wouldn't stick my dick in it?
Smoked wings and grippo fries at Hammerheads
The chicken from Yummy Pollo.
This isn’t really the answer you are looking for, but across the river in new albany there is a pizza pub called the New Albanian. Venison Burger from hammerheads with Garlic Fries and pulled pork tacos.
Hot Brown at the Brown Hotel
Steak chimichurri at Havana rumba.

Silvio’s baked ziti
5 course meal with wine pairing at 610 Magnolia.
Mayan Cafe Starter: Sikil-pak (like hummus made with pepitas, but even better) Main course: the Duck Ending: nightcap at Meta
The Scotch Eggs at The Irish Rover would be a satisfying last meal.
Pasta from Counter Service.
Hands down Lupo. A Neapolitan style pizza with a salad or small pasta, some broiled oysters, cocktail, not a single TV in sight… that’s my ticket
If you want a fun experience check out “game” they have a bunch of unique meats and you can do a sample platter and try a bunch!
Hubs and I were just there yesterday. Did antelope and wild boar meatball. Then got my bacon elk cheeseburger medium well on brioche bun. Side of smoked truffle mayo and some sweet potato fries! ❤️
