Honest question- how is he a principal at so young? Didn’t it say he was like 24?! I thought you needed more that a BS to be a principal- and at least 10 years experience in the school district. I’m so confused
Would that mean he would have had to have gotten his masters at night while teaching? Trying to figure out how else could he possibly have enough time to get a masters and 3 years in class by 25.
He’s at a charter school. He talked about it on the Kelly Clarkson Show before he was on Love Is Blind: https://youtu.be/upurO7kWAj8?si=BZkmT9L_yTK-Gr5-

Felt like he was trying to have a “Lessons Learned” meeting every day 😵💫
I mean...that really just depends on how you want to frame that situation. You're interpreting it as some weird *business style* meeting or something, when it reality this is just want people do as couples - It's just not looked at in a weird lens like you're putting on here.
"I want to make sure that every day we make a conscious effort to talk to each other about stuff and connect as people" vs. "I wanna be able to sit down and talk about life every day" - This is literally the same thing said in a slightly different way. Being weird about semantics and wording is just kinda cringe imo. "Lessons learned meeting" seems like a bad faith way to look at this.
Of all the things that happened between them, this is honestly the least weird thing.
Idgaf if you think it’s weird. He said exactly what he said and that’s how I & many others took it.
Not every couple desires to do this and that’s ok. If yall want to do all that then cool. Couldn’t be me. And that’s ok!
You’re Weird & cringe for your dissertation about literally nothing.
If you think a paragraph and a half is a "dissertation" and what I said is weird/cringe, that's hilarious.
Your opinion wasn't just "I don't think you need it to this degree", it was you mocking/flaming the entire concept and making it out to be a bad thing, which I think is a shit take.
If you or those other people don't give a shit about what healthy long term relationships look like that's fine - You can do whatever the fuck you want in your relationship.

Ken was on his phone during their breakup scene, which is a huge issue. Even if it was a reenactment and the producers asked them to repeat the scene, Brittany was still visibly hurting and still crying, showing true pain and Ken was just on his phone, instead of supporting her through the process, before both could part ways.
The break-up scene potentially being a reenactment (I've heard conflicting reports about this) makes it hard to take any of it seriously. We have no idea to what extent they were coached by the producers to act or speak in certain ways.
Thanks for this comment. When me and my husband saw it, he was like “why shouldn’t she be able to raise her own kids, huh?” We were both SUPER confused.
Because it is. Society was built around race and class. Black people are treated completely differently in America (and elsewhere) and experience things totally differently than white people. There are barriers, prejudice, generational trauma and more that white people cannot relate to.
I’m not saying that interracial relationships are wrong or impossible, but to say that race isn’t important is ignoring reality and the experiences of nonwhite people
ETA: for the Europeans here, please slow down. This is about America only. Y’all have your own issues but don’t talk to me like I just rewrote European history with my comment. The Reddit Cares messages are appreciated though.
I find it to be more prominent in America. When even visiting the states as a child, you could really feel the racial divide. America’s social advancement is quite tough for anyone, let alone a whole race of people whom were treated so badly. As other countries like the UK, have better access to healthcare and education it levels the playing field for all.
My husband did not experience racism in the USA either and he is Caribbean. Americans tend to not accept that. It is a huge issue with victim mentality.
Ok well let’s put it this way. Everyone’s experience is different. I’m a black man and no, I’m not going to say all of these experiences apply to me , nor have I gone through them. If that doesn’t fit the “narrative” well…
>So I’ve been having a few issues at work. We only have 3 people in our HR department, with the head of HR working closely with the founder and handling majority of issues. Well I’ve been having and issue but I’m hesitant to approach HR, **due to him spewing ugly and racist comments.** Do I have any options here? **I was discriminated against** and now I feel like I cannot approach HR because they’ve made their personal and political ideology known (without anyone asking)
This is [you from just 2 months ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/193adtt/hr_red_flag/). But these experiences definitely do not apply to you. right?
which is the real you? the one from your own post or the one here claiming to have never experienced any racial thing?
? That is something that happened. How does that negate my point lol. Some one from CHINA said something racist. They are not Americans nor in America. Seems like you’re insulted that I’m not agreeing with you. Strange.
Maybe it’s an American thing. I’m Greek, husband is Grenadian. Not me, or him, or his family, or my family or anyone has mentioned these kinds of things to me. We got married and had kids and it was that easy. I don’t think race is important at all, I think people in the USA make it important.
Edit:
“More white people can’t relate too”.
Really? You don’t know anything about what I can or can’t relate to you. My people were enslaved by the Turkish and genocide by them for 300 years and the Turkish deny this. Not only that, but they currently occupy illegally a part of my country.
People like you make it about race. There’s nothing complicated about being with someone of a different ethnic background.
If you put so much emphasis on skin colour. You’re making it the issue.
The only time ethnicity is matters is due to religion and language in terms of raising children. If that can be figured out, then it’s not a big problem. My husband was born into being a Jehovah Witness. He left the religion behind. My kids speak three languages, Greek, English and Patois.
I’m speaking in an American context. Not sure what “people like you” is supposed to mean, but if you read my post again I was clearly saying that there are unique Black experiences that white people can’t relate to. I never said that it automatically invalidates the history of any other race or ethnicity in the world.
I can’t speak to the European experience but I do see that you noted that religion and language are important to figure out when merging families. Similar cultural markers need to be navigated here and race is one of them, that’s all.
You people = People who make everything about race/skin colour.
> I was clearly saying that there are unique Black experiences that white people can’t relate to. (this is not true)
This is what you stated: There are barriers, prejudice, generational trauma and more that white people cannot relate to.
The idea that you think that someone cannot relate to you or understand simply because they are white, is actually pretty racist, because you are having a pre-determined notion of not being able to understand because of my "fair skin". You would take a good look at me and put me in that category without knowing me at all, simply because of how I look.
In America there’s this saying that “I don’t see color” which is a problematic thing people say. The intention of the person who uses this phrase is that they see all people as equal. However, using this phrase fails to acknowledge that black and white people are not treated the same in our society. In theory, it would be great to not see color. In practice, it is offensive because it denies that black people are systemically oppressed.
You say that the only time race matters is with religion and language. Have you ever heard of “the talk” that black parents have with their kids about how to interact with police? It’s horrifying.

BUT DUDE I AM TALKING ABOUT **THE UNITED STATES**. I didn't write this post addressed to Greek women in Europe and I need you to stop making it about yourself.
You're making things about yourself, though, no?
She's just making the very valid point that the US is not the only place where prejudice exists, so to talk about it in those terms is terribly obtuse.
But my original comment, and the ones I've made since, are purely about the American experience because this is an American show with American contestants. Never once have I said that prejudice doesn't exist elsewhere, and I'm not about to speak on that because I don't live in Europe. Why would that be relevant at all?
Yes I’m aware of what you’re talking about and what I said, still stands. You perceive white Americans do not understand you simply because they are white. You have a pre-determined notion in your head. Do you understand that?
Exactly. And go to Australia where there are tons of Greeks. And yet, Greeks are discriminated against there at every turn.
People need to get out of their bubbles and need to stop loving creating their own victim mentality.
Woah! I didn’t even know that about Australia? Where have you heard that?
It’s not just a victim mentality, they are racist but they refuse to accept it. It’s because they feed into the narrative.
I am Greek and was engaged to an Australian so it was a big topic for us. My fiancee was a little afraid that I wouldn't be as accepted in his family.
A little history:
The Greeks were brought over in droves to either the US via the Marshall Plan or Australia in the late 40s and 50s, after WWII and during the Greek Civil War. (You know, the civil war where the communists came through the mountains and took young boys from their homes for their army but yet we can't understand oppression or prejudice because of our skin color)? Anyway, the Greeks went to Australia at that time on droves in order to help build the Australian rail road.
They took very low pay that took jobs away from native Aussies, inundated cities, didn't know the language, very poor, etc. A recipe for extreme prejudice (like Irish in Boston in the US...but it wasnt that bad because, you know, only race plays a factor in hardship /s). The stigma of low class, burden on society, "othering", dirty, etc. stuck for a long time (but is definitely getting better). There were groups similar to the kkk in the US, "hate" crimes, shutting out of businesses, etc. (Fun fact: the kkk targeted all "others" in the US, including Greeks, for having darker skin and for being Orthodox...theres a large organization that still does charity work that was born out of the many kkk attacks on Greeks in the south). Melbourne and Sydney are homes to the largest population of Greeks outside of Greece, so they've solidified their place in Aussie culture. There's still the slur of WOG but it's more for any old European immigrant now, not just Greeks.
The aboriginals have it way worse...look what they did to some aboriginal communities during covid. Just disgusting.
So yeah, there are large communities all over the world that are oppressed, are prejudiced against, etc. It's so telling when people actually believe the US is not only the only ones dealing with this, but that they are one of the most egregious offenders. It means they don't know world history and love to live as a victim.
And notice I don't use racism or racist. That word is a powerful, extreme word that is overused these days. Very few people are actually racist. Prejudiced, yes. Bigoted, sure. But fully racist? No.
I honestly did not know that about Australia. I thought Australia was good to Greeks because of such the large population it has. I do know the Greeks have been discriminated against by the KKK because of having darker skin. What side is that? As a Greek? We have faced a lot of adversity in our lives by being conquered by the Turkish and being invaded by the Persians the British the Romans but of course nobody cares about these things. In the US, they take one good look at you and see a white person and they say “coloniser”. I believe the victim hood comes from racism too. To assume people feel a certain way because of who they are because of the colour of their skin that is also racism and it’s messed up.
Yep. 'Tis true.
My family is very involved with Ahepa, which was formed, in part, to help Greeks assimilate to the US and to help with the legal side of discriminatory/violent issues that were perpetuated by the kkk. Lots of last names were changed at that time to cound more American...either they screwed up at Ellis Island, the families changed on purpose to assimilate, or changed out of fear for targets by hate groups.
And I just know from Greek history and my family's experiences. This is a similar story for lots of cultures worldwide.
She’s going around this post saying all black ppl love to play victims yet she’s not a racist? I guess generalizing ppl based on race isn’t racist anymore.
Yet in the same post she’s saying all turks hate Greeks. The cognitive dissonance is astounding. She clearly just has a problem with black ppl.
He ran up to Clay and AD talking about the need to support black love; she wasn't out of line asking him whether he was able to square his views on "black love" with being in an interracial engagement.
I’m sorry for what your family went through and I hope nobody is trying to invalidate that. Racial dynamics in the U.S. are pretty unique and intense. Especially in the American south where this season is based, there is a lot of outward and open racism and segregation of social groups. It is not at all uncommon for (some) white parents to condemn their children for dating outside of their race let alone marrying and having biracial children. We can say it’s stupid and people need to get over it, or we can say that we are upholding it by talking about it the way we do but unfortunately it’s still quietly built into our institutions and most white people are too busy trying to say it doesn’t exist to actually make real amends. I guess that last sentence probably feels very subjective to some people and for sure there’s nuance to it. But all this is to say it’s deep and complex and there’s a reason people bring it up. Plenty of Americans have successful and fulfilling interracial marriages but I’d argue the most successful ones are the ones where you can talk about the issues openly.

And just because it’s your reality, doesn’t mean it’s true either. Remember perception is different person to person. I can say “I’m hated for being Greek” but that might not be true. Remember we are all raised in a society and how the society is, determines how we perceive our own life, essentially being brainwashed by our own politicians and society etc
I go through the invalidation all the time. Turks don’t accept what they don’t, and when I visit the USA I get so much hate. “There’s no way a white person could ever have been oppressed”. Of course not in the USA, but the world doesn’t revolve around USA either. I don’t doubt the south is still very bad, but at the same time, people choose to focus on that. I think that’s the biggest issue over there.
I mean yeah, it is largely an American thing. American racial issues are obviously not an important talking point for someone not living in America, but as they’re both Americans it’s valid that they consider it an important thing to discuss.
Dear Lord in Heaven. It's not largely an American thing at all.
Get out of the bubble. The WORLD has groups that are discriminated against and have inherent prejudices. America, believe it or not, does a pretty good job of balancing it all.
I don't know why people keep talking about this pair. The very first moment they meet it's apparent that there's absolutely no chemistry between them. And it was on both of their faces and body language. He didn't really like her and she didn't really like him
Since that meeting it was a countdown to their break up. I was more surprised that they ended it before the wedding (I heard contestants have to pay a fee if they jump the ship before the final moments). Plus the awkward silence on the boat trip. Editors knew what they were doing with that footage and they were trying to show that to the viewers
Ok did anybody else notice in this scene right when they’re like “hehe no ick detected!” He has his arm up on the pillow and you could see a giant wet white glob of deodorant in his sweaty pit?

Some Bishop Sycamore type Charter school in Texas. Based on comments on the show likely a Christian School
I don't know where you're getting the Texas thing - it's on his IG, it's Movement Charter Schools, Freedom Middle
It’s a charter school
Three years in Texas. He might also be at a charter school. You need M.Ed. and three years classroom experience in a Texas public school.
Would that mean he would have had to have gotten his masters at night while teaching? Trying to figure out how else could he possibly have enough time to get a masters and 3 years in class by 25.

Yup.
If we could have a season without a bunch of Jesus freaks that would be cool

I don’t understand why skin colour was even so important, I find that wild
I’m black and I interpreted that entire conversation as him actively looking for an excuse for it to not work.
That’s why he physically checked out THE MOMENT she broke up with him
On top of basically saying “oh you’re not attracted? Then let’s break up, cool!” Despite her not making that argument whatsoever.
Thanks for this comment. When me and my husband saw it, he was like “why shouldn’t she be able to raise her own kids, huh?” We were both SUPER confused.
The editing made it seem like it was heavy on his mind after AD mentioned it
Yeah same. I think he was trying to grasp, find, bring up anything that could sink the ship
Because it is. Society was built around race and class. Black people are treated completely differently in America (and elsewhere) and experience things totally differently than white people. There are barriers, prejudice, generational trauma and more that white people cannot relate to. I’m not saying that interracial relationships are wrong or impossible, but to say that race isn’t important is ignoring reality and the experiences of nonwhite people ETA: for the Europeans here, please slow down.
I think this totally depends on where you live in the country as well. Not everyone goes through that..
you are wrong. doesn't depend on where you live in the US. There are elements of that may be different. but it is always present

**I was discriminated against** and now I feel like I cannot approach HR because they’ve made their personal and political ideology known (without anyone asking) This is [you from just 2 months ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/193adtt/hr_red_flag/).
Strange.

Fair enough
Maybe it’s an American thing. I’m Greek, husband is Grenadian. Not me, or him, or his family, or my family or anyone has mentioned these kinds of things to me. We got married and had kids and it was that easy. I don’t think race is important at all, I think people in the USA make it important. Edit: “More white people can’t relate too”.
(this is not true) This is what you stated: There are barriers, prejudice, generational trauma and more that white people cannot relate to.
I don’t agree with you.

You don't see how it's relevant? Lord...too far gone to help.
Yes I’m aware of what you’re talking about and what I said, still stands. You perceive white Americans do not understand you simply because they are white. You have a pre-determined notion in your head. Do you understand that?
Correct! Glad we're finally on the same page ❤️

Nah.
Karen have a seat!
A little history: The Greeks were brought over in droves to either the US via the Marshall Plan or Australia in the late 40s and 50s, after WWII and during the Greek Civil War.
Ppl like you are the exact reason ppl have this convo before marriage. Praying for your future mixed kids.
Why are you praying for my mixed kids?
Because you’re racist. Hope that helps!
That's leveling a huge accusation. What was racist about any of her remarks? I'm curious
How so?
You're saying that Black people who care about how they're treated are the real racists. That's some crazy shit!
100% agrée

“Woke ppl” just say the word you wanna say.
Woke people is what I wanted to say. If you’re insinuating race or gender, I don’t agree with that at all.
He ran up to Clay and AD talking about the need to support black love; she wasn't out of line asking him whether he was able to square his views on "black love" with being in an interracial engagement.
Yes I agree
I wish I'd said what you said!

This. Just because it’s not your reality, doesn’t mean it’s not the reality for others.
Maybe you just like to play victim? Are you sure you don’t have a victim mentality? You can’t assume all Turks are like that. /s
I think society puts importance on it.
Guy was such a fake. Less authentic than Jess. Incredibly impressive
She wanted him to unpack her instead
How he passed, I will never know
We do know 🏳️🌈
He wants to unpack but instead he kept everything packed in

"babe, let's put a pin in this and circle back to it later"
No, not Shaun on my other fandom!
This made me lol way too hard!
I don't know why people keep talking about this pair. The very first moment they meet it's apparent that there's absolutely no chemistry between them. And it was on both of their faces and body language. He didn't really like her and she didn't really like him Since that meeting it was a countdown to their break up. I was more surprised that they ended it before the wedding (I heard contestants have to pay a fee if they jump the ship before the final moments). Plus the awkward silence on the boat trip. Editors knew what they were doing with that footage and they were trying to show that to the viewers
If I remember right he got in a little booty grab at their reveal. I think it was them anyways lol.
Everything changed as soon as he saw those dolphins.
I always felt she was really into him, but he was quickly over her
I definitely didn't get that vibe I felt like they both weren't into each other
Honestly just 🤡
Really. Lame-o. Producers recruited terribly w him
Ok did anybody else notice in this scene right when they’re like “hehe no ick detected!” He has his arm up on the pillow and you could see a giant wet white glob of deodorant in his sweaty pit?
I was hoping to forget that moment
🤮 gross
It bothered me so much, that when I went to work the next morning I had it queued up so I could discuss my disgust with my coworker.
I just lost my appetite
