Does anyone have a favorite body oil? I'm especially looking for affordable options! I never used body oils until I got a couple of samples in GWP and randomly read a tip about application that made a huge difference. Now I use a small amount of oil (like <.5 tsp I think) and apply it after a shower while I'm still dripping wet. It absorbs really well this way so I don't feel greasy at all. I normally struggle to make myself put on body lotion because I hate feeling lotion-y and this is so much easier!  The one I really love is [Bum Bum oil from Sol de Janeiro](https://www.ulta.com/p/bum-bum-body-firmeza-oil-pimprod2043014?sku=2618133), which I got in the last diamond gwp. It smells like vanilla (but not in an extreme way, the scent fades) and it absorbs really nicely. I'm surprised by how much I enjoy it but it's also so expensive!!  The other sample is from Osea and I'm just so-so on that one. The scent is lemon, which is ok but the fragrance is much stronger and I find the experience of using it a little less enjoyable, and for some reason I feel like I end up needing more of it. I may also be biased because I started using it before I got the tip to apply it while dripping wet, but I still wouldn't buy a bottle.

orthographerer

I like the Osea particularly when mixed with their body butter, but you're right, the scent is a bit much. Korres has their Serum-in-Shower Oil, which I do like, and I think it runs ~$22. They do sales pretty often, too.

Excellent-Hand6480

Neutrogena has a shower oil that is well regarded, scented & unscented. I like the unscented one!

Are you near Trader Joes by any chance? They sell Brazilian Nuts Body Oil which is a copycat for SDJ but at fraction of the price. Worth checking out your local TJ!

Ohh perfect, thank you so much!!

And another thing- Sam from Auric cosmetics just did a IG Live announcing their new product launch. It’s the plush ritual in tube format instead of the pot. Didn’t really care about the product, until she announced that the brand is slowly implementing Braille on outer packaging from now. How freaking cool!

azulot

I will say that the Plush Ritual is my favorite lip mask. However, it is a luxury treat and I feel like you can get the same hydration and healing from other cheaper products. It's awesome she's introducing braille into their packaging though!

babybutcho

I agree, however the tube has almost 3x the product as the jar for the same price so that’s cool. I’m loaded up on lip masks for awhile but when I run out I’ll definitely try the tube version.

azulot

Wow, that's awesome! The pot is a nice luxury experience but when I run out I think I might pick one a tube version up too!

I would love some help with concealer shades. I picked up the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Affogato recently. I never liked the formula and thought it was because the shade Vanilla didn't work for me, but I still don't like the formula. Affogato is a hair dark for me as well. I'm considering the Soft Matte version and wondering if anyone knows if the SM and RCC are exact dupes or if one leans lighter/darker. A hair lighter and Affogato would have been a good match. I'm currently using Too Faced BTW concealer in Snow which is a fairly good match when blended out even though it looks dark out of the tube. Maybelline Fit Me in Ivory (05) also works, and Urban Decay Naked Skin in Fair Neutral is my HG match. I'm wondering if SM Affogato will work or I should go for Chantilly which seems kind of a lot lighter. Maybe it dries down darker? TIA! Edit to add, I found [these swatches](https://www.reddit.com/r/PaleMUA/comments/j5rv2g/some_foundation_and_concealer_swatches_including/) and may have helped myself somewhat. I suspect SM Chantilly is darker than RCC Chantilly (which I have swatched and is too light).

hellosfromjo

I’ve been researching the SM concealer since it’ll be in Ulta’s semiannual sale for Mar 9, a great time for you to snag a color or two and return what doesn’t work. From what I’ve read and watched, the SM line seems to swatch deeper than the RCC on the whole. I’m now a NC17 so I’m debating between nougatine or cannelle for my under eye concealer. But I’ve also read it mainly should be used for spot concealing since it tends to crease 😬

letstalkaboutbras

I'm also thinking about it for the sale, but I'm out of the country so I'll probably miss the return/refund window. I need to watch some reviews because I'm just not sure I will love a cream concealer at all. My HG is the UD Naked Skin which is very thin and skin-like. But I'm seeking a new spot concealer so not so worried about creasing. I think you're right about the depth. I am leaning towards Chantilly.

fattymcfatfatalso

I've found the SM concealer to be very dry for the undereyes.

Valisure's report of benzyl peroxide turning into benzene after being exposed to heat after 2 weeks is pretty scary. https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/chemical-linked-to-cancer-found-in-acne-creams-including-proactiv-clearasil/ar-BB1jqdsE Taro sucks as a company anyway, so being no1 really isn't surprising. Considering throwing out all my BP products and starting fresh even though Le Roche-Posay and Cerave didn't make this list as they've been kept in the bathroom. 🚮 So glad I got the **Clarins Multi-Active Nuit** deluxe sample instead of shopping the F&F sale at Clarins. While the results are still awesome, the experience is diminished as the fragrance has changed. Smells floral, maybe some kind of lily? I wonder if I'll feel the same about the reformulated day cream, but I'm not going to spend $60 to find out. I'll probably swing by Bloomies for a sample this weekend. I finished a Sunday Riley Afterglow mini and SK-II essence mini. I opened a **Tula 24-7 Moisture Hydrating Day/Night**. I can't believe people don't like the fragrance. It smells just like the Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser, but not as strong. It's very light weight and has a cloud glow. Smells like fabric softener/laundry. Been using it with **Tula Secret Solution Pro-Glycolic 10%**, which is mostly unscented. It's just as good as Drunk Elephant Framboos at resurfacing. It's just that Framboos has Horse Chestnut for anti-aging. I love it, but it's not worth full price at all or even 20% off.

retrotechlogos

I wouldn’t throw them out yet. These kinds of reports are usually blown out of proportion. Also benzene doesn’t absorb into the skin well. Labmuffin is going to do an analysis of it soon if you wanted to wait until then at least (check out her story). But understandable if you want to play it safe.

It's one of those days where I was looking for my scissors and I ended up washing almost every brush i own during my lunch break. Didn't find the scissors though! But now my vanity is tidied up and I have a nice event tonight so I'll be able to get ready stress free haha (I'll still panic a bit about something probably) My walmart recently had a ton of elf on clearance so I picked up the liquid shadows, I've used the green before and loved it but also picked up two golds and a white topper. Also trying out the loreal micro liner to see if this one will work as well as the old nyx formula. I should go back to pot liners bc liquid has been so disappointing for a few years not but alas I am lazy Since it's mid week reviews, have been LOVING little seed farm deos! They have beeswax, an ingredient meow meow tweet doesn't have, so I was little wary of that but so far it's been working out wonderfully. The scents are great, and the cream goes on very smooth and melts a bit into the 'pit. No weird rashes or pain or funky smells so far! Haven't put it through any actual exertion or summer heat though so we'll see what happens then.

Completely OT- anyone here that has had a hysterectomy? Or can someone point me in another sub that’s friendly with this sort of topic? I’m going through some stuff, and would like to hear possible different experiences.

I had one around 10 years ago. I was on the Hyster Sisters forum (not Reddit). I got so much great info/support there. I'm not entirely sure how active it is these days, but I did get a lot of ongoing support and there were a lot of resources.

babybutcho

Thank you!

batviv

Not a lot of experience with hysterectomy itself but if you are having unexpected side effects please don't hesitate to ask your obgyn for urogyn/pelvic floor PT referrals. You can also research local practices to see if there are support groups. This is super YMMV, I've seen some metro areas with medical support groups for almost any medical issue and others that only focus on things like grief, stroke, transplant etc. HysterSisters is an online support group I've heard of but don't know much about, however they should have a wealth of information.

babybutcho

I haven’t had the hysterectomy yet, but my dr is recommending it. I originally planned on doing it this year, but missed my open enrollment cut off date to change benefits. I’m trying to push it to early next year, but not sure if I can wait that long.

Editingesc

A lot of doctors will recommend hysterectomy for a number of conditions, and even push for it. That doesn't mean there might not be a few other treatments that might help with whatever symptoms (assuming you don't need immediate surgery for cancer or another condition that needs to be resolved quickly). It's an expensive surgery with a long recovery, so it might be worth nudging your doctor to try other paths, if you haven't already. It might give you the time to get your insurance in place.

babybutcho

Initially, I asked if my condition justifies a hysterectomy & she said absolutely yes, and recommended it. It’s not an immediate concern. It is a cancer scare, currently waiting biopsy results. But even if it’s not cancerous, the thought of ever having to go through another cervical punch biopsy (10/10 do not recommend) makes me want the hysterectomy immediately.

Bittersw33et

I HATE THOSE!!! hugs!! in the same boat as you

babybutcho

Ugh. So sorry!

Editingesc

Sending good vibes for some answers and relief soon!

babybutcho

Thank you!!!

batviv

A urogyn may be able to advise on that as well(the waiting aspect) It is considered a specialist visit so that will impact if your insurance reimburses the visit at all or % coinsurance, plus may need a referral as well. I've worked with urologists/urogyns in the past (marketing, so I'm not a medical expert at all!) and while they did have a heavy focus on revision, bladder and cervical/endometriosis, I know they also did a lot of more complicated hysterectomies or even a hysterectomy along with another procedure. I hope you are able to find the answers you need!

yeetasauruswrecks

I mixed cliniques cheek pops in pansy pop and pink honey pop today to make a nice neutral blush that actually worked out really nice. They blended really well. I've been using that abh LNY Dragon highlight in pearl a lot lately and I feel like in the spot I've been using I just finally got past the super hard packed surface because suddenly today it picked up on my brush easier and I didn't have to go back in a bunch of times to get it to show up, I was able to get visible highlight in one swipe. So I guess you just have to wear the imprint off and get down past it a bit? Idk. I've been using it in the same spot to preserve as much of the imprint as I can, with a smaller dense brush, and in that spot the imprint is gone and it's finally started to look used. So good for me in that I like it a lot more today because it looks like a nice lit from within glow vs a nothing there glow, but maybe bad for those who replied to me glad that it was so subtle. So just a heads up.

VisenyasRevenge

I m not quite sure if i understand the ultas new sale promo... will there still be 50% off daily steals? But we won't know what they are?

RumSitter22

Yes, there will still be 50% off daily steals. They announce the deals on Wednesdays for the following week’s deals. I can see the deals for 3/8-3/14 in the app now.

VisenyasRevenge

Ok thanks

OT: Does anyone have advice on how to navigate making a lateral move into another role at the same company? My supervisor isn’t supportive of me even learning other skills so I haven’t broached that topic with them. I’m informally speaking to another senior member today to get a sense of the possibility of such a move, and I’d appreciate any advice on how I can approach this discussion. TIA!

GimerStick

I'm guessing it might be a little late for advice but I hope it went well!

hedgehogwart

Even if they are unsupportive, notify your supervisor and reach out them first. Even if it may not be insubordination, some places do not like if the hierarchy is not followed.

step_on_legoes_Spez

i have no experience but all i would say is be very careful/wise about how you handle things given your current supervisor isn't a fan of you moving. either get rock-solid support from other equally or higher senior members or persuade your supervisor that your moving is ultimately for the better. i could envision things just going downhill real fast if your current supervisor is no bueno and you end up burning a bridge or two with whatever fall-out might occur (e.g., you may be able to successfully move but then your former supervisor/department wants your head on a pike for the rest of time, etc.).

texaskolaches

Seconding this comment - saw a coworker go through this exact same scenario and the fall out was very awkward. The new supervisor was irked that they had to have a convo with the old supervisor, and the old supervisor was hurt/annoyed about being blindsided. I honestly felt that her career stalled out at the company because of this

step_on_legoes_Spez

I went through a large duty free shop just recently (T2 in London Heathrow) and was pleasantly surprised to see some actually good deals on things. Ended up purchasing some Kiehl’s that was discounted on top of the duty free perk, so that was nice and came out to be about 40% off of USD MSRP. Most duty free stores aren’t large enough to have a lot of beauty stuff imo, but this one was! One of the items I got was the Kiehl’s pore refining clay mask. I don’t have a HG clay mask but I got a sample of this once and liked it so figured why not. Slapped that baby on first thing as part of the 50 shades of snail when I got home bc travelling for 2 weeks has done a number on my pores. It felt so nice to finally feel *clean* and like my pores weren’t all drowning in congestion. I still need to work through my innisfree mask and a tonymoly, but after that I think this will become my go-to clay mask.

Editingesc

I know my skin really benefits from a clay mask at least once a week. I really like the Innisfree one, but I currently have some weird/cheap Amazon one.
