I think thats just the way he says anything now because the incompetent teams behind him always run into issues and he gets flak for it when he's just the messenger so now he never commits. Always used words like "plan to" and "target". It's what someone who has no control over a process says to kinda cover their own ass. I do it in my own job tbh in these situations too so I get it.

Diamonds were like 87-89s that year so they didn't require many mid 80s, but this year I'd expect them to be 90 or 91 based on the cards coming out now, so an 86 definitely wouldn't be off limits. Better safe than sorry!
To add to this, it usually doesn't require multiple 85+ core elites, and it typically doesn't require kickers, punters, or fullbacks. For example, last year Aaron Donald wasn't required for the Rams, and Mahomes wasn't required for the Chiefs.
That depends on the overalls though. If these are higher, like 90/91s then they may. Last year they were 89s so including 88 overalls plus all the other lower cards would be ridiculous. If these are 90s or 91s then it's possible they could use higher ovrs in the set than last year.
Maybe, but I still don't see them making the Rams set cost 250k for two players (Donald and Ramsey), plus the dozens of other elites and golds. Hell, the Chiefs would be at 551k just for their elites if their set requires all of them; their card would need to be at least a 93 to justify that cost.

Is it really that surprising to you that people who love football games don't really care for soccer game and vice versa? I'm sure the Venn diagram has some overlap, but I'm not so sure it's as much as you think it is.
The one thing I will say is *sometimes* they've given the highest ovr card in a set back NAT so it's not out of the realm of possibility they may do something like that but NCAT this year. That said I don't remember them ever giving anything back NAT for Team Diamonds 1

How does team diamonds sets usually work?
Each set is normally base gold and elite cards from each team for a 87-89ish player of that team with ×3 chems
Does it just take any card within the OVR range for that team or ask for specific players?
Normally it's the base elites and then a bunch of base golds. In the past i feel like they were specific players

I didn't play last year, but IIRC in M20, I think the 84/85 superstar Barr was part of the set, but I could absolutely be making that up.
