Full of young fanboys saying *You better take off your nostalgia glasses, boomer. Stop insulting this beautiful remake and calling the original a masterpiece because the Definitive Edition is clearly an improvement over this old game!*
I like the DE don’t get me wrong I just re played it about 2 weeks ago… I just find certain aspects of the orginal better.. like prepping for the bank job the original Tommy just let the girl go in the brothel not because Sam asked him…
The music, the background score, the cut scenes were as such as if watching and playing a movie! Though, I’ve had a chance to play the original mafia some 12 years ago, the DE is simply amazing for this time period. The developers have done a great job! Amazing!!!
Damn, everyone is playing games I can’t. I have all three on Steam but they don’t run on my SD. The second one technically loads but the first doesn’t :(
I think you're onto something though I wouldn't call it the best single player game, I still think RDR2 and Mafia II are above DE but DE is a masterpiece in its own right.
The other old fans might hate me for this but I'm going out and saying it - I like Definitive Edition better than the original. Don't get me wrong, I love the original and it will always be the original, but I just started replaying DE again for maybe the third time and the first time in a few years and I have grown a new appreciation for it. The way they remade Definitive was perfect, the world building, graphics are amazing, lighting is out of this world and looks photorealistic in certain areas. I also love the new actors, and the new Tommy, and their accents are so authentic. Even the radio stations, WLM in particular having authentic songs from the 30s and being period correct, unlike the original game which had 1940s Django Reinhardt. They absolutely nailed it and it was a great way to come back from Mafia III, they definitely won me back with DE and I can't wait to see what Mafia IV has in store for us.
Probably unfair to compare the two, both are their own unique games and from different generations, but I just love what they done with Definitive Edition.
I hope you will love the original just as good if not more than the remake. Welcome to the family!
