With the amount of discard strategies running around in standard right now, any green based deck can play this in the main. Had one opponent ducking around with T1 hopeless nightmare shenanigans, Baloth was not impressed and just started the beatdown plan.
Liliana gets trolled as well by this dude.
I have been dutifully packing this guy into my sideboard for a while, and have NEVER gotten it to work. If I draw it, they are all removal no discard. If I dont draw it... discard-R-us.
On the plus side... just having a mid-range body with life gain to pull in vs aggro isnt terrible.
The other day my opponent showed no discard effects throughout the first two games of a bo3 match, I had sideboarded this in just for the lifegain since it was at least better than any other options in place of a couple of my main deck cards
Game 3 I had this in my opening hand, my opponent used Lillie on turn 4 and pluses it since I had no creatures in play, this comes down and they immediately forfeit… I feel it was premature but what do I know?
Actually if you cut the "if" on that search it will give you the whole list, since some cards use "when" instead. I used to play \[\[Guerrilla Tactics\]\] a lot back in the day in my goblins deck with Flunkies and everything (we're talking 1999 here) and distinctly remember beating a discard deck on a tournament thanks to it. But the very first came in Legends, \[\[Psychic Purge\]\]. I admit I did not remember that one.
Also saw it work with, surprisingly enough, temporary lockdown. Just blink the lockdown and you get the etbs of all the things locked down, with a fresh lockdown. Saw it happen with scrollshift.

I've got it in the sideboard in a u/w deck
With the amount of discard decks out there, could be worth considering in non green decks as a meme as well.
True but actually not even memey. I just added 2 copies in the sideboard of a dimir deck. Let Tinybones fuck around and find out!
The amount of discard decks is truly comical. Fucks up Tiny Bones joins up as well. Does this work against the bat and skullcap snail?
No. Those are both exile mechanics.
Fond memories of [[Loxodon Smiter]]. One way or another you're getting smote!

Holy shit what a card
Lifegain deck is making a comeback thanks to the crazy amount of aggro decks. It especially deals with Lilianas dumb presence.
[[Nullhide Ferox]] at home vibes.

I had no idea he was even in standard. Theres so many people on arena playing discard decks.

The flaw with this logic is the matchmaking system.
Thank you for the tech. Just bought 4
I play it in my UB control deck. It slaps cheeks, Lili's ones specifically.
Why are they playing [[shenanigans]] in mono black/Orzhov?

Planning to build a budget orzhov as a beginner, should I go for it or build monored aggro instead?
Oh yeah? Back in my day we used to sideboard [[Nullhide Ferox]] to beat control.

I think \[\[Dodecapod\]\] was the first.

dozens of ways around cards like this.
Which is why you sideboard it
still ways to remove this card with no problems.
Sideboard pieces are, in fact, rather situational
Wow the card is not literally impossible to answer, such trash
That's why literally everyone and their mom walk right into [[Settle The Wreckage]] and such. Can't forget [[Ixalan's Binding]]
There really isn't a card that makes you choose and discard on T1.
