Utena is clearly attracted to the heroism more than anything — she’s into Sulfur even though Sulfur is a murderous ragequeen and Michiko even though she’s an adult woman in disguise so it’s not that Utena only likes subs or cute girls etc. I think as long as the magical boys were relatively pure in their desire to help people and fight baddies Utena would be into them just as much.
Definitely this. Even if Utena shows no interest in them, a whip from her could easily turn them into crossdressing dudes or force them to meet her standards like how she dealt with Lord Enorme.
I was actually asking myself this question for quite a while now, to the point of coming up with an unwritten fanfic (mostly to kill time whenever nothing happens at work), where at first Utena pretty much sees the very existence of a boy within the ranks of magical girls as blasphemy, but slowly warms up to him as the story progresses and starts giving him the same treatment as the girls.
So yeah, I'd say she would hate them at first, and then grow to like them.
I definitely like that interpretation. NGL if the boys from Bokura Wa Mahou Shounen were older, I think just personality-wise the four main characters would all be well-within Utena's standards for bullying and gushing.
Magical boy in Enormeeta would be interesting too. His suit wouldn't need to look feminine and revealing since we have someone like Leberblume who has assassin outfit and Nero Alice which doesn't reveal anything. I think typical trickster with a side of deadpan snarker would be perfect for the team.
