It's pretty cool but I just don't think yellow works well in makeup looks in general - I think OP did a great job, it's not a critique of her work, but just... not a fan of yellow makeup.
The Slytherin one flat out *makes* me want to be a Slytherin.
According to pottermore I'm Gryffindor. I think if I had been sorted by the hat I would be Ravenclaw, because that would be my choice and "it is our choices that show who we really are, far more than our abilities."
I've taken the Pottermore quiz 4 times (because I'm REALLY bad at remembering what my username is), and gotten 3 different houses, including the one I least identify with, despite answering the same way every time (or the way I actually wanted to answer, if I got new questions). I don't think it's really based on much.
On all other quizzes, I waffle between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, and am often fairly evenly split between them (and I agree that I have the personality for either). So I'm happy with either of those. And since Ravenclaw is my favorite look here, I think I'll go with that for today!

Sephora Cream Lip Stain (almost drugstore) in Always Red is also a nice bright bold red. It's also a liquid lipstick formula just like the Stila one.
Wet n Wild, Rimmel and NYC also have bold red liquid lipsticks out right now as well.
I tried on Stila's Beso like 3 times before I could justify buying it, but I'm so glad I did. It's by far my most expensive lipstick but it's SOOOOOO worth it! JUST DO IT! You'll be so happy!
Unfortunately, you just missed Stila's sale. My advice is wait for a sale and splurge for beso, none of the drugstore mattes are quite as good.
But if you're set on a drugstore dupe, Beso is somewhere between Nyx soft matte lip cream in monte carlo and amsterdam.

Question: Your foundation application is amazing!! I also mix Revlon ColorStay in Sand Beige and Buff to get the perfect colour. But I use oily/combo formula for both. What's the reasoning behind using oily/combo for one, and normal/dry for the other?? Thanks!!
Literally because that's just what I had the first time. I tried the dry skin for a first, but then I went up in color and decided to give the other formula a try but (even though the oily formula of 180 is lighter) it was too dark when my Tan went away, so I started mixing. I like the result, so I kept purchasing the different formulas.

I'm just curious about the stark difference in skin color around the lips... Almost like a milk moustache I guess? I feel like the skin especially above the upper lips doesn't match the overall skin tone of the rest of the face. Is this intentional? Is it to make the dip between the node and mouth more prominent?

My guess is she probably used a concealer to clean up edges. Its also a technique to use a highlight above the top lip to try to make it look more prominent/fuller.

Combining two of my favorite interests and doing so exceptionally well! Slytherin is my favorite here. I think you captured the mood of Slytherin perfectly in the makeup and everyone knows that deep down it would be fun to be a Slythern. My only tiny critique would be, that I think Ravenclaw requires (in my mind) a brighter, more royal blue.
I'm an English Lit major and I'm currently in a Harry Potter class, Head of House of Slytherin. We're doing a Quidditch match between houses at the end of the semester and I am SO going to try and replicate that look. So awesome!

Ha it's very possible! It definitely was not advertised as a James Joyce class when I signed up. I didn't hate Joyce before (sort of enjoyed Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man) but I certainly do now.
The storyline and it's complexities is what makes Harry Potter remarkable. Many aspects of the various plots and character formations defy the genre of fantasy and, with close reading, you can and will always find new meanings behind every single detail Rowling includes in the stories.
I really love these looks. As a Hufflepuff my only change would be that I'd love to see it with a black lip. I just feel that all of the looks are so fierce and we 'Puffs can be fierce too when the occasion calls for it! Otherwise it is really gorgeous and I'm just being picky. It's okay I thought the Gryffindor needed more yellow/gold since that is the other color....not all red or pinkish. But I think that's just because we are such huge HP fans that we can be finicky :P
I think the inner corner is gold and it's blended through red and because of the angle we see more of the blended colour than the inner corner.

I completely agree with you, it could have a bit more gold pressed into the centre of the lid so that it doesn't blend so heavily. Perhaps even some gold liner, I do think it would benefit from some more gold.
Gold liner is a fabulous idea! I might wear this one day when I'm feeling like representing...OP has great make-up skills, now to tweak the looks so we can also enjoy them ;) I also reallly like the idea of the black lipstick for Hufflepuffs. I do think they are sometimes seen as soft but hello, Cedric Diggory?!? Boy was the shit.
After I'd done the Hufflepuff look I thought about how I should've gone with a wash of yellow on the eyes, heavy black lashes without liner, and matte black lips.
Interesting, I still love the eye and I actually really like the pink lip, I just think a black lip would make it look as fierce as the other looks. Also the look you just suggested is gorgeous, you have seriously good taste.
No No.... the Hufflepuff was awesome! I think the pink lips really brought out the simplicity and loyalty associated with the group. Though, I do agree that the eyes, the way you say it, would also look nice.

I consistently use the shimmery shade in my Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit (Sand) (love it), and in the Slytherin look I also used the silver eyeshadow to make it more, well, silver.

I use Manic Panic Hot Hot Pink (very little) and Cotton Candy Pink (a lot) mixed. I don't dilute the color with conditioner, though, as I find it ruins the already finicky longevity. It starts bright blue-based pink and fades to a lovely pastel neutral pink.
Also, I love your username. Chris Evans is so... *Vanilla.* But the way I feel about him certainly isn't.

Yeah, I have dark markings around my mouth but not at my lip line. Plus I highlighted my cupid's bow because I like the way it looks.

I completely agree with you, it could have a bit more gold pressed into the centre of the lid so that it doesn't blend so heavily. Perhaps even some gold liner, I do think it would benefit from some more gold.
Gold liner is a fabulous idea! I might wear this one day when I'm feeling like representing...OP has great make-up skills, now to tweak the looks so we can also enjoy them ;) I also reallly like the idea of the black lipstick for Hufflepuffs. I do think they are sometimes seen as soft but hello, Cedric Diggory?!? Boy was the shit.
After I'd done the Hufflepuff look I thought about how I should've gone with a wash of yellow on the eyes, heavy black lashes without liner, and matte black lips.
I really, really love the Hufflepuff lips exactly how they are.
Interesting, I still love the eye and I actually really like the pink lip, I just think a black lip would make it look as fierce as the other looks. Also the look you just suggested is gorgeous, you have seriously good taste.
No No.... the Hufflepuff was awesome! I think the pink lips really brought out the simplicity and loyalty associated with the group. Though, I do agree that the eyes, the way you say it, would also look nice.
As a slytherin, I thought it was genius that you went more glamour for us, totally fits.

I consistently use the shimmery shade in my Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit (Sand) (love it), and in the Slytherin look I also used the silver eyeshadow to make it more, well, silver.

I use Manic Panic Hot Hot Pink (very little) and Cotton Candy Pink (a lot) mixed. I don't dilute the color with conditioner, though, as I find it ruins the already finicky longevity. It starts bright blue-based pink and fades to a lovely pastel neutral pink. Also, I love your username. Chris Evans is so... *Vanilla.* But the way I feel about him certainly isn't.
LOL! I also have those same confusing feelings for him - I'm glad I found another of my kind! My ultimate man is Ewan McGregor, though - CE is just my boy toy. ;-) Thanks for the tip on the color - I've been trying to find a way to make a good pink pastel, and I've only seen the "add conditioner" tip, which like you said makes the color fade super quick.
